Is there a BEST Boot Loader? (4 5 6 7)?
As I know 7 has some problems in some roms
Im actually in BL4 with my defy red lense, and I've just read that upgrading from BL4 to BL5 or 6 can remove some bugs but is this true?
Should I upgrade to another BL? If so, which one? Im actually on
JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005_NORDIC_SIGN_SIGNED.sbf
which sbf do you reccomend?
Thank you
There's no "best" boot loader version. Only issue arises if you can't run 2ndboot roms, and the fix is to upgrade to bl version till it works. Changing the boot loader version does not enhance any aspect of your phone

I noticed that the focus here is more on the Motorola Defy than Defy Plus (+). I need some help with a defy + that was purchased for my mother.
It is currently running on Stock 2.3.4 (build: 4.5.1-134_DFP-891 , Ver: 45.0.891.MB526.Asiaretail.en.03) Rooted.
However, they prompted me to update my firmware to Ver: 45.0.1321.en.03 recently.
Wondering if i were to update, will i lose root?
I rooted Defy+ with superoneclick 2.3.3.
Also, any good Custom roms to recommend for Defy +?
Will the procedures be the same as Flashing a Custom rom on HTC Sensation?
Where CWM or 4ext can be flashed to boot into as recovery and flashing firmware?
Thanks a million in advance for the help..
first of all, read this.
If you upgrade, you will lose your root, but as far as i know, the 2.3.6 can be rooted too with the latest superoneclick.
the best custom rom is definitely cyanogenmod (cm7), which can be used with 2.3.6, just install 2ndinit for defy, and there you go!
im not familiar with the flashing process of htc sensation, so i cant help you with that. flashing a full stock rom can be done with motos program rsd lite, while flashing a custom rom is done via cwm.
Hey guys,
I have a red lens defy, completely stock.
Its running android version 2.2.2 and the kernel is 2.6.32.9
(I'm from New Zealand)
I was thinking of flashing wiui and it all makes sense to me except the part in the instructions that says:
-1. Flash 2.2 CEE ROM or Nordic
Does this mean I need to flash I different sbf? or does it not matter?
Many thanks, and apologies if this has already been blatantly answered.
Respect.
anybody have an idea? I dont wanna do it wrong haaha.
Not necessary. Your stock 2.2.2 should work with wiui without problem, so try and if you have problem then just flash the Nordic one.
Awesome, many thanks
Have a great day.
Hi,
I read your thread where you responded to details about downgrade.
I have one question for you, which may help me in unbricking my defy?
I used RSD lite to flash a official or full sbf (nordic froyo)
but the phone did not boot despite pass message on RSD lite
The phone does not go into boot loader or recovery. Though it is recognized on RSD and i can flash a ROM.
I do not know the BL version of my last froyo ROM.
Is the only reason for this to happen is a higher CG version. Should i try BL6 froyo?
regards
Moved to Q&A.
Recently I've wanted to remove cyanogen mod. I've found this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176753
But, the problem is that the cyonagen mod gave the phone 4.1.2. If I use these files to flash back to stock: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=27 , they are all 2.x.x.
What I'm worried is that this is downgrading the phone so will I brick the phone if i flash it using those files?
Also will flashing back to stock automatically remove Cyanogen mod?
Thanks.
Bump.....
No problems there. You can downgrade from 4.1 to 2.2. But, if you flash the 2.3.6 Defy+ SBF or any BL7 SBF, it won't be possible to downgrade to 2.2. Basically once you go a higher official Motorola android version (upto 2.3.6, which is official), you can't downgrade to a lower version.
I want to rollback my motorolra razr m (rooted) to jellybean and want to unlock bootloader so i just downloaded a stock rom of it and start flashing it with rsdlite when i started i just got an error saying gpt_partition_failed and then my phone got brick i fixed it back but i want to downgrade it. my razr m's build version is july 29 2014 please need help . Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated.
you can't downgrade if you have a locked bootloader, according to your build version, you can't unlock your bootloader
