I currently have a Nexus 4 8GB on the Paranoid Android ROM, with Franco Kernel (Faster Binned CPU), the CPU temperature never seems to go below 45 degrees C works out to around 113F, When I'm using the phone for basic use this is just texting and using messaging apps no gaming whatsoever its on about 50degrees C. I tried to reduce the voltages by 150mV has no effect on the temperature what so ever.
This is my second Nexus 4 after the first had dead pixels, Do the temperatures seem fine, I mean a friend of mine has the same device rom/kernel and his device stays in the 30's ...
so whats the issue? your cpu temperature is smack dab in the middle of normal. your friend is either making up stuff, never leaves the air conditioning, or lives in a place thats cold. yesterday i was taking photos outside in the summer heat, and my phone hit 55C, also normal.

Thanks that's comforting...
just remember, human body temp averages about 37C, which is not hot. a quad core cpu can get really hot if being pushed, and still be "safe".

i think i have a problem.
i can only get a max of 1800 points in quadrant standard with revolution hd rom and setcpu with autodemand 245-1228.
why is this happening? i've done a factory default and the same.
Don't pay attention to these benchmarks... they tell you nothing. And noting wrong with that score, it's high enough, upgrading to ARHD 3.x might help.
If you are dumb enough to rate a phones performance on such bad benchmarks then..
Turn setCPU to performance
Restart your phone and kill all apps with task killer
Turn off sync/wifi
and update your rom maybe..
AR 2.0.11? AR 3.3 is already out...
quadrant scored really doesn't say a lot for the ROMS. you may have high 2000s scores but your battery lasts only have a day.. doesn't really means a thing
For me it was difficult to get consistent results with Quadrant.
Upgrading the app changed results dramatically.
You can run a benchmark now, and again in 5 minutes time and the results can be way different.
It was great at first but frustrating after a while.
For example: (on stock rom)
Original (2053)

Then I updated the app (1773)
Then 12 minutes later (1813)
Obviously many factors are involved but as Foladko and Baste07 suggest - I wouldn't pay too much attention. It's not as cut and dry as for example overclocking a desktop PC.
Decided to steam a movie last night from Xfinity. Started about 80+% battery. Running Paranoid Android, Trinity at 1400 cpu. And about an hour into the movie, I get the batter warning!
I thought I'd have plenty of time to watch a movie. BUT I was streaming, using wifi for it, and screen, etc. Is this kind of draw normal?
Any way to expand the time/duration? I would think I could watch more than one movie on battery?
EDIT: I put the device in AIRPLANE mode, and watched a two hour video, and lost 20% battery. I'm now watching it again (just running it actually!) to see how much more drop I get. Perhaps the issue is the streaming? My next test may be to lower my cpu speed, and watch again to see drain. Then stream again........ wow, I"m learning something!
EDIT 2: Watched a second time, battery down to 54%. Lowered CPU to 1100, give or take and starting to watch a third time. After about half of the movie, I only lost down to about 48%. Seems like big difference. An early conclusion might be I fell in love with CPU / High Q scores - and didn't need the juice for what I was doing. AND wifi streaming is a hog! We'll see how many times I can watch this before having to juice up. I'm curious how steaming at low CPU behaves. As I don't play games really, this may be the better choice.

So I know the phone gets hot but I was watching a flash video on Firefox and the audio got garbled. I closed Firefox immediately and took this screenshot.

Everything else about my N4 is excellent. Well, except battery life. That aside, is this a hardware issue? I hate doing RMAs but I'd hate for my phone to die even more and can't be without a phone.

I'd crack an egg on the back and have breakfast.

How many hours do you get screen on?
You could try a kernel w/ undervolting available and see if that helps.
If your phone is rooted and have busy box installed then I'd recommend Bricked kernel. I used to have issue with heat too but after using bricked kernel I have never seen it goes up past 105. Its even rare to see it goes up to 100.
So this could be a kernel issue then? Hm. I'll think about it then. I wanted to keep the phone stock but maybe I'll try the kernel.

from my experience flash always makes the phone run hot. hell anything that uses the CPU at a high utilization for a long amount of time makes it hot, games like GTA Vice City for example

He's right. It's flash.
Are these normal temps? I think otterbox defender is making my mxpe hotter.

A case will keep heat in more, but it doesn't create heat... Your temps do seem high depending on what your doing, I see 107F CPU temps with average use (42C) which seems pretty normal to me, and I see it shoot up towards 120F (50C) sometimes during very heavy use, but by that time thermal throttling is starting to occur (~48C) and the big cores are taken off-line.

Web browsing and top of the screen was getting hot. so I checked cpuz temps, and seen quite a few sensors high so tis why I ask. And it was only 74f out I think.

Hey,
so I did research for like 3 days but I can't find any solutions relating to my problem. My G6 ist running on v30b so its updated to the newest version. But at easiest tasks it is so laggy and stuttering. Playing games you can forget about, also apps like Snapchat are a disaster. I deleted or disabled all bloatware I could find.
So I tried this CPU "benchmark" and it seems like the CPU is kinda locked or limited at 1GHz. The performance is dropping to red but the CPU still stays at the excactly same level, why? (Screenshot) The max CPU clock also says 1,59 GHz there first. The G6 wasnt hot at all ans not charging.
I was irritated and like 10 minutes later I started a new test. Now the Max clock was correct and it also started at 2Ghz but after 1 minute it dropped all the way down to 1GHz and stays there at the same level. The performance is completely red. I really cant unterstand why this is happening, hoping some of you can help me.
Thank you so much in advance!

Second test
Virus/trojan - run bitdefender or kaspersky scan.
Some adware/bitmining program. Full backup, then full reset of phone to factory fresh.
Something broken with the hardware - eg the cooling pipe inside the phone.
