[Q] Slide to unlock with password/pin - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to use slide to unlock on my Nexus 4 but I'd like to put a password on it too.
Any ideas/ways to do this?

Get rid of lock screen?

Is there anyway I can get rid of the slide to unlock and go just with the pattern lock? As of now I have to have the slide to unlock and then have the pattern unlock which just seems pointless to have two unlocks...

Click to collapse
Yeah, I don't understand why that is like that. When you enable the pattern lock the slide unlock should be disabled.
Yes, they seriously need to resolve this. I do not have any security turned on now because I refuse to do two different things to unlock my phone. Come on verizon/motorola!

I think it's perfect as it is. Set your security settings to enable after 10 minutes, then it wont annoy you.
If your phone went straight to pattern, you wouldn't have access to the quick slide-to silence, media player controls, (if you use a custom lock screen, other shortcuts) and you'd have to enter the pattern every time it turns the display off, even if just due to you reading something on the screen.
Sussed. Took me a while to get familiar with my Dext to come to the same solu
tion. Good to find a forum for such..am old and mid-tech tho want to learn.
I've never used the pad lock deal you guys are talking about, but there is a free app called "No Lock" that will disable the slide to unlock. I'm pretty sure it would probably take you straight to your password screen.
This is another thing Motorola changed with their version of 2.2. Stock Android takes you directly to the security screen if you have it enabled
Stock Android goes straight to pattern unlock. That's how it should be on this.

Using pattern lock now so how do I disable the basic lock?

I am using a dot pattern for security to unlock my phone now so how do I make the initial drag/slide lock go away? I want the dots to show as soon as I turn on the screen, rather than having to slide unlock first everytime.
Thx
You can't do it. I managed to do it by keeping a titanium backup file of Settings Storage from version 2.1 u1. I restore it, set my lock pattern, and it completely disables the slide to unlock.
bummmer
is this still the case? no way to turn off slide to unlock and keep pattern?

[Q] Howto answer a call with pattern unlock instead of slide unlock ?

In ICS, how can I answer my phone with my normal unlock settings (pattern) instead of slide?

Screen lock unable to disable

How do you disable the screen lock? I can switch between the different methods (pattern, pin, password) but I can't figure out how to get back just having the quick lock.
I think this might be an oversight bug.

In Setting/Security/Choose Screen Lock I have the following options:
None
Slide
Face Unlock
Pattern
PIN
Password
EDIT: Misread your problem. Select "Slide" to get the default lock screen back.
Okay I got it now thanks. I was looking for "None" as an option like on my HTC One X. I selected "Slide" and that did it.

Which unlock screen do you use?

Just wondering if people use any type of security or just a slide to unlock.
Usually it's just a slide for me. But now since we can slide right into the camera even with a pattern lock I wouldn't mind using that either.
No lock screen or extra steps to access my home screen! Unless the N4 left my sight which doesn't happen much!
Pattern. My Google account credential is way too important to leave it unlocked.
