Which unlock screen do you use? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if people use any type of security or just a slide to unlock.

Usually it's just a slide for me. But now since we can slide right into the camera even with a pattern lock I wouldn't mind using that either.

No lock screen or extra steps to access my home screen! Unless the N4 left my sight which doesn't happen much!

Pattern. My Google account credential is way too important to leave it unlocked.

Get rid of lock screen?

Is there anyway I can get rid of the slide to unlock and go just with the pattern lock? As of now I have to have the slide to unlock and then have the pattern unlock which just seems pointless to have two unlocks...

Yeah, I don't understand why that is like that. When you enable the pattern lock the slide unlock should be disabled.
Yes, they seriously need to resolve this. I do not have any security turned on now because I refuse to do two different things to unlock my phone. Come on verizon/motorola!

I think it's perfect as it is. Set your security settings to enable after 10 minutes, then it wont annoy you.
If your phone went straight to pattern, you wouldn't have access to the quick slide-to silence, media player controls, (if you use a custom lock screen, other shortcuts) and you'd have to enter the pattern every time it turns the display off, even if just due to you reading something on the screen.
Sussed. Took me a while to get familiar with my Dext to come to the same solu
tion. Good to find a forum for such..am old and mid-tech tho want to learn.
I've never used the pad lock deal you guys are talking about, but there is a free app called "No Lock" that will disable the slide to unlock. I'm pretty sure it would probably take you straight to your password screen.
This is another thing Motorola changed with their version of 2.2. Stock Android takes you directly to the security screen if you have it enabled
Stock Android goes straight to pattern unlock. That's how it should be on this.

Froyo Changed Security Lock?

EDIT: Just realized I was in the Dev section and this should have been posted in General, sorry.
Never had Froyo before, just wondering if this change is just part of Froyo itself or just the update we received.
Just seems that I can't turn off or modify the Security Lock. I used to just have my pattern, but now you have the unlock it and then do the pattern. Not a huge deal...just an extra step.
Thanks!
I miss my slide slide lock
The 2.2 update dropped that feature which also prevents us from having a slide only unlock. You have the option of pin lock, pattern lock, or password lock. No more just the standard android slide to unlock. Please tell me I'm missing something here. Hope its just hiding in plain sight =/

No, you can still have standard slide unlock. Just disable screen unlock security in the settings.
Maybe mine is messed up. If I turn off security it has no unlock feature. I press the top unlock button and it takes me straight to the home screen.
Hmm yeah, that's weird. It actually got me thinking, if I were to disable lock screen completely, I don't see an option there except that Security unlock option. Which is set to None for me right now.
Yeah I checked with other fellow x owners and they have the same problem. Any one else having this issue? Or maybe a fix?

It's not just the ota I've had this issue from the very first 2.2 leak. I miss that option.

Not sure this applies to anyone, but I noticed I now have an enforced security policy from the exchange server my X is connected to. I have to either use the pass-code or password. I can't use none or the pattern unlock.
So, if you have a corporate exchange account they can enforce specific security requirements. They can also remote wipe your phone if you loose it, which seems nice for the corporate world.

^false information. Myself and 3 coworkers with the OTA 2.2 all have the same issue with this redundant unlock process. You are no longer able to ONLY have to slide to unlock or ONLY have a pattern/pin/passowrd to unlock. You have to make this redundant slide to unlock then enter pattern. Not a big deal just an annoying extra step for no apparent reason/benefit. This is my biggest complaint w/2.2. Everything else is gravy!

I'm not on OTA, but 2.3.15 Leak. Should be the same. I can set it to just Slide or Slide/Pattern. I can't set it to just Pattern.
Edit: Hard reset makes the stock slide unlock come back.
My co worker did the upgrade and has access to the slide only unlock. I'm thinking about a hard reset to see if that will fix it.

[Q] Cyanogen 7.03 - Disable Unlock Slider when PIN security is enabled

I have Cyanogen 7.03, and I have enabled a 4 digit pin in "Location & Security settings". The pin works fine, but I don't need the unlock slider anymore. At present time the unlock slider comes on, and then the pin. I am trying to figure out how to disable the slider but leave the pin screen enabled.
The best I have been able to figure out is to enable "trackball unlock" with "disable unlock slider" option in Cyanogen Lockscreen settings. I can double click the trackball to unlock, but since the slider is gone and the slider screen remained (it just shows the current time) the power button can't get past this time screen, forcing me to unlock with the trackball, but lock with the power button.
Interestingly, if I enable pattern lock instead of the the pin lock then the "slide to unlock" screen goes away, which is exactly what I need to happen when PIN lock is enabled. Can this be done?
Can someone help with this please?
Easy, settings<cyanogenmod settings<tablet tweaks<disable lock screen

Actually I'm not absolutely sure this is what you need but let me know
Edit: that doesn't work, it disables the pattern screen as well

It disables the pin screen as well, so that doesn't work.
Well I hope you find a solution. I was having that problem and ended up using an application lock app instead

Thanks. I switched to using a pattern lock in the mean time. It's not a bad alternative. What application did you switch to?
removing slider for only PIN entry
settings-lockscreen-unlock options-disable unlock slider
choose trackball unlock or menu unlock for the option to appear.

Lockscreen option?

Hi guys
I realised everytime we off the screen, and when we turn it back on, no matter how long, the lock screen will be activated. And i cant find a option to set a time before it locks.
Any help on this? Im on stock rooted KF1

If let the screen turn off instead of lock then the lock after time setting in the settings is vaild. However if you lock the screen then thus setting is bypassed and the unlock screen will be shown after you unlock the phone. I use delaylock from the market to bypass this and have the lock screen disbaled for my custom amount of time no matter how the display goes off.

Use no-lock to bypass the lock screen. Its best and free.
Market link - https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock

[Q] Swipe and pin lock?

Is it possible to have both a swipe lock and a pin lock? I want to have a pin lock if the phone hasn't been used or unlocked for 30 minutes and a swipe lock to avoid accidentally unlocking the phone. The pin lock is a requirement for accessing a corporate Exchange account.
It worked on my old Nexus One with CyanogenMod 7.2. But I haven't figured it out on my Nexus 4 with CyanogenMod 10.1 nightly
I'm sure this would be possible using tasker if you have any experience with that app. In fact tasker allows you to pin lock only certain applications which may come in handy for you. You should look it up if you haven't heard of it before.

I was able to set a pin lock with Tasker using Secure settings. But I'm not sure what will happen if I disable the pin lock and switch to Swipe lock a hundred times a day. Perhaps the corporate security admin will wipe my phone :silly:
Could it be solved by using another lock screen than stock?

Installing Widget Locker solved my problem :good:

Switch between swipe and pin (or pattern)
Has anyone found a possible solution?
I LOVE swipe lock, dashclock, and quick apps etc. But at work, I would prefer a pin. When I don't want the pin anymore, instead of diabling a lock screen all together, how can I set it to revert back to a swipe lock screen?
***side note unrelated (don't hate me) ****
share a related thread?
I have been searching forever for a way for Tasker to realize im driving and change settings etc because Im going say 20mph (even just for a few seconds) would indicate that I am likely driving.
*********thanks for not hating me***************
Here are some resources for lock screens:

Possibilities:

Thanks!
IDEA: at location 1 --> enable pin at location 2--> disable pin
A toggle as listed above for random situations like a baseball game etc.
