I am a java programmer. im trying to develop a free yahoo messenger for android (and maybe java SE/ME) i dont know, how i can connect to yahoo servers and send/receive messages... and also i dont know yahoo messenger servers and ports...
i searched in the net a few monthes ago. i find 3 libraries for doing this:
1. jYMSG: a library for java SE, but i thing i can use it for android programming.
2. OpenYMSG: based on jYMSG Library.
3. aymsg: i dont use it yet!
about the yahoo messenger servers and ports i find something (csc.msg.yahoo. , etc.) but know, i asked my questions in yahoo forum! i thing this way is better!
so:
- How can i connect to yahoo messenger for login/receive messages/send messeges/get contacts/...?
- Are there any official library for developing a yahoo messenger app for java (android, SE and ME) like jYMSG, OpenYMSG and aymsg?
- Please tell me best yahoo messenger server(s) and port(s).
If i can develop this app, i will upload it in net as a free messenger.
thank you.
Have you tried Yahoo IM API?
http://developer.yahoo.com/messenger/
http://developer.yahoo.com/messenger/guide/ch02.html
It supports JSON, so I guess you shouldn't have problems. Remember to get your API key.

You could easily use the API said above along with an Android Framework such as Android Query to make the app ...

Am trying to set up Yahoo Messenger on my Exec, but keep getting message that browser does not support this version of Yahoo Messenger with BT communicator...it requires IE 5.5 or higher. Is it possible to install Yahoo IM and if so does anyone know how? Many thanks
I dont think Yahoo is supported on the pocket pc platform at present.
Agile messenger would let you use the Yahoo contacts list and instant messaging but I think thats it.
Some one posted this recently, might help. It's not the official Yahoo! Messenger tho :

You also have Agile Messenger. Not using it at the moment myself, have done in the past and it is quite good.
Its another multi-messenger application, does yahoo and msn and a few more.

try this messenger
I am looking for a messenger to run the above, as I would rather have an intergrated client for all the messengers than the one included with the ROMS, just for MSN (or do they do yahoo now too?)
This is basically a repost - as I asked the same over a year ago - and had been using Agile, which was suggested then and was OK, but is no longer a freeby.
Ideally I would like one supported by linux too - as I have been using GAIM on the ubuntu machine I am setting up, and would like to shift away from Gates' behemoths, and there are plans for mobile ubuntu soon.

It seems GAIM may now be Pidgin if that encourages a reply from anyone.

palringo.com
Slick
I use Slick for my AIM, but it also handles Yahoo, ICQ, MSN, GoogleTalk, & Jabber. Very nice and it's free.
Slick doesn't allow you to message peoples cell phones from your AIM account but Palringo and the new AIM Mobile Beta do.
yahoo go for pocket pc.
also beejiveIM is free right now cause it's in alpha/beta testing. It is my personal favorite of the IM apps.

palringo is the best. i tried almost all of the im in your list and found that palringo is the least complicated, has descent looks and it connects faster even when using gprs. and yes, it can handle multiple yahoo accounts.
i get that Palringo Transfer All Data (For example username and password) in a not encrypt text file, so i think it's not secure and by the way i found that anyone can register in palringo with any email address and there isn't any confirm for email address!!!
now what do you think?!
if live messenger get connected with yahoo and we can chat with our yahoo add list with live messenger isn't better that we created MSN account and use Live Messenger?!
If I Import My Yahoo Contacts In Palringo Does Palringo Send An Add Requst To Them Or Just Import Them For Me With Out Their Permission?
is there a way to sign in two location on msn messenger like aim?
I usually use builtin MSN and IM+ together.
i mean, if i sign online with the default msn messenger for the xperia, my desktop would sign out. was there a way to remain logged in both places.
i didn't think you could do that with msn the only place you could do it is with aim and gmail i believe
but i believe msn and yahoo signs you out when you sign on from a different location
Hi there!!
It is possible with messenger.. you go to the messenger on your'e desktop and you will find there a option thats say's: Don't log me out if a mobile device logs in. If you can't find the option it will be availible on Messenger 9.. That already is availible in beta version.
Hope this will help you

Guys! I have a litle (big for me) problem: I really miss a few java apps and I wanna know how the heck can I port those on my beloved optimus 7? This phone doesn't support java, but I believe that some apps can be ported! Can I find a tutorial about this??? I will atach a java file that I wanna put on my phone, maybe a kind gent developer may look at it and tell me at least if is possibile! Thanks in advance and please, don't let a poor noob to stay in the dark!
I'm sorry to disappoint you but there's no way you can run java on wp7. There is no java runtime in wp7.
The only thing that would be possible is to build the app from scratch in silverlight. It shouldn't be that had if you know some C# and you have the source code fro the desired java app. But i think building a sinaxar app it's pretty easy if using some specific web services or API. Maybe you should look into building your own simple app instead of porting the java one. You can find many tutorials on wp7 developing and it is easier than you might think.
PS: Have you searched for Orthodox Calendar on Marketplace?
PPS: I have an idea that might work: Search for an orthodox holiday calendar in ical format. You should be able to find some online. Download the ical and sync it with your exchange calendar. Then sync the exchange calendar with your phone. The calendar should be on your phone this way. So you don't need a sinaxar, because you have the orthodox holidays in your phones calendar. I think this should work with google calendar or msn calendar as well.
Orthodox calendar is more about russian and not romanian! Already tried it! I've syncronized my windows live calendar with an .ics one, but now I'm facing another trouble: yahoo mail account not working! Keep asking me for the correct password! Tried to delete it and create another one, but does not work. I've tried with advanced settings and on INCOMING mail had pop.mail.yahoo.com, tried again with imap.mail.yahoo.com, but nothing seems to work!

Hey,
I would recommend using google calendar or exchange (if you have one) for sync. Yahoo is known for issues, and Hotmail... i have no experience with that. But with the first two it works great.
Problem solved. Imap was the problem. Thanx a lot, but I still miss a lot at least a java emulator
