Is it possible to download Yahoo Messenger? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Am trying to set up Yahoo Messenger on my Exec, but keep getting message that browser does not support this version of Yahoo Messenger with BT communicator...it requires IE 5.5 or higher. Is it possible to install Yahoo IM and if so does anyone know how? Many thanks

I dont think Yahoo is supported on the pocket pc platform at present.
Agile messenger would let you use the Yahoo contacts list and instant messaging but I think thats it.

Some one posted this recently, might help. It's not the official Yahoo! Messenger tho :

You also have Agile Messenger. Not using it at the moment myself, have done in the past and it is quite good.
Its another multi-messenger application, does yahoo and msn and a few more.

AOL Instant Messenger on WM 5.0

So I've tried using the latest (albeit quite old) AOL Instant Messenger on WM5.0 and it doesn't like the soft buttons which renders the program useless. What are people out there using for AOL IM clients on WM5.0? I tried Agile Messenger, but you cannot check away messages with this software. Thanks for your suggestions!

messangers
ya ive had this problem...
ive looked into some diffrent messangers and fount that agile is the best,
not just for aim but you can login for many ims,
i also find the tabed messages useful,
but i do find that checking for away messages can be a pain, b/c u have to message the person,
but apart from others this is still the best i have found...
if any one else found a better messanger plz let me know

yahoo messenger?

I have tried the webmessenger tool hich seems to connect to msn fine but has probs connecting to yahoo. is there any free messnger tools i can use to IM on yahoo at the moment?
try imov from www.movsoftware.com
the only proviso is that you need a Jabber account somewhere.
this is a list of jabber servers:
http://www.xmpp.net/
I think mail2web runs one as well

cheers.. will look into it..
if only yahoo had their own app like they do for series 60
they used to.
you can still download it:
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/ce/ymsgr-ppc.exe
might still work
also forgot, agile messenger works quite well:

rgds
thanks will try those tonight..
Agile Messenger works very well, BUT after entering your account details, it tries to log in.. and tries, and tries, forever.
The solution is to press Next, then go to Options - Preferences, the last tab, and disable "Secure connection" or so.
After this, it worked flawlessly.

Cool... has anyone tried this yet? Is it WM5 compat? I would just download and test, but have just got my Uni the way I like it, don't wanna hard reset again!!
Regards
its a very old version of YM written for PPC2002. For some reason Yahoo stopped the project to support PPC. A big mistake as ICQ, MS and AOL do support it.
i heard that tmobile dont allow IM apps on their handsets as their current data deals for net browsing and email are not meant to be used for MOIP bummer

I heard they're looking to change that, based on the low bandwidth probably.
Tried Agile Messenger and it works great. Thanks.

Messenger Application that can run Yahoo! messenger

Are there any mobile messenger application that can run Yahoo messenger other than Agile or IM+... freewares? My agile trial expired and i dont have any credit card to buy the full version (even tho its not that expensive anyway)
try java applet from mig33.com or nimbuzz.com

Forgive my idiocy, but was Agile at some point "free"? And when did it become not free?
agile was free for ages, they called it a trial but it never expired.
noticed it wasnt about 6 months ago or so i guess they decided to start trying to charge people for it.
also try http://www.ebuddy.com/ which is a web based messenger app allows MSN and yahoo on most wap enabled mobiles.
i still prefer IM+ but thats not free.

Search For Slicks Im
I think this is a good program to try
EQO Mobile. It's a messaging app that lets you connect with aim, msn, gmail, and I think yahoo. It's free, and it looks pretty nice. Again, it's called "EQO"
I've been using palringo and it plugs into 6 IMs, including msn, yahoo, aim and google
nice interface too.
Also does voice and picture sending
IM+ is a good application as it has all the usual suspects including MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, etc etc, and it works on WM5, WM6 & WM6.1
Last time i checked palringo isn't freeware.

I was curious about a couple of the programs in this thread, so I started looking, but haven't installed yet. I was also wondering if palringo was free. I hit their faq website and found:
How Much Does Palringo Cost?
Palringo is free and will remain free for non commercial users.
Commercial users may be interested in the benefits of an Enterprise account. See here for more information.
Palringo connects through the internet so if you pay for data usage, such as on a mobile phone, check with your network operator for pricing information.

But it looks like you have to sign up on their website http://forum.palringo.com/faq.php?faq=gettingstarted#faq_gettingstarted_signup
I might have to try it to see how it goes.

I loaded palringo, and it does seem very cool. I like it better than slick. And it has some features that look really cool. Like, groups with group chat and voice messaging. Now I just need to get some buddies to load it up on their windows mobile and blackberry phones so we can give it a good workout.

Palringo FTW!!

Messenger application

I know there was an old thread on here but I could not find it, so, forgive me to ask again:
What is the best Messenger application for WM5 / WM6?
I love the look and work of AGILE MESSENGER but the price is way too high for a program like this! Also: users get routed through their own servers to 'validate' the lisence. This causes time delay and additional data trafic each time you connect and in a long run you pay more than you would have to if you pay per data volume.
It would be great to find a program what does at least the main 4: AOL, ICQ, MSN, YAHOO. What do you guys use?
You could try Octrotalk.
Useful info here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323654
you can try look for IM+.
this messenger can connect to msn, yahoo, google, jabber, etc...
if i'm not mistaken they also have a version which can connect to skype. but i'm not sure with this.
fring does all of them with the exceptio of Yahoo. Very light weight and supports voice on all. www.fring.com
im using im+ i can send it to you just PM for me

Dual MSN Messenger Login

is there a way to sign in two location on msn messenger like aim?
I usually use builtin MSN and IM+ together.
i mean, if i sign online with the default msn messenger for the xperia, my desktop would sign out. was there a way to remain logged in both places.
i didn't think you could do that with msn the only place you could do it is with aim and gmail i believe
but i believe msn and yahoo signs you out when you sign on from a different location
Hi there!!
It is possible with messenger.. you go to the messenger on your'e desktop and you will find there a option thats say's: Don't log me out if a mobile device logs in. If you can't find the option it will be availible on Messenger 9.. That already is availible in beta version.
Hope this will help you
