Hey there.
First off I'd like to say that I currently own a LG O2X but I'm planning to buy a N4 as soon as it's available again.
Now, to my question:
Let's assume that the phone freezes and it doesn't restart or react to anything you do. You can't take the battery out to reset the phone. What can you do to reboot it? That kinda makes me worry, as I haven't used any Android phone besides my O2X yet and I encounter this issue sometimes and fix it by taking out the battery and putting it back in.
Thanks in advance.

Does that cause the phone to reboot? With a freeze I mean a complete freeze. Touchscreen not responding to anything etc. That includes no power menu when holding down the power button.

Yes holding down the power button is like basically doing a battery pull. Take like 6-10 seconds.

Okay. Whew. Now I'm relieved and can't wait to get my hands on a N4. Thanks alot.

I hope that's a somehow hardware implemented thing that can't go wrong no matter how ****ed up the software is.

Yeah same here. Otherwise that would be disappointing and annoying at the same time.

Are you doing it simultaneously? Give it like a second or two before releasing

press the power button first and the the volume down button...and then wait for your INSTANT WIN!!
need to press them the same time. its a little tricky at the start but you'll get used to it.
or you can just get an app that will do it for you

no point in installing useless apps that consume memory when its in the OS natively. its not that difficult to press two buttons at the same time and getting it right. once you do it once or twice, you'd get the hang of it and all is good.
either that or flash a custom rom and u can add the screenshot button on your long press power button menu.

It works for everyone. All you have to do is push them at the same time. Power + volume down. Hold for like three seconds. If it doesn't work hold for five seconds.

It's very tricky. I said the same thing when I was doing it on my galaxy Nexus but got the hang of it.
Place your hand on the volume down and power button before pressing them and then hold them both at the same time until your phone makes a screen shot animation.
I will give Samsung this though the slide to screen shot is very intuitive on the touch wiz platform.

Oh so that's why. Since the new diztronics cover the buttons, it's probably not being pressed correctly.

Tell that to the people who had difficulties
It is tricky at the beginning but like I said over again and again, once you know how to do it. It's not tricky and is very easy to do. I understand depending what case they have on it may be trickier because the case covers the buttons that all of us overlooked

Try first powering off your phone. I had a little issue and i could not get the shutting down menu after several attempts, the phone restarted it self and after it was up, I was able to take screenshots without any difficulties.

Hello guys my power button seems unresponsive most of the times...I'm kindda worried about it since i dont have warranty also
I am using touch control and stuff to reduce the usage of it as much as possible :good:
My question is, will replacing it cause any problem?? Will it be noticeable that its replaced??
Thanx in advance :good:

It may not be a power button hardware problem. A few members, including me have experienced bad power button behavior ever since the 4.3 update. At times mine seems unresponsive, or acts as if I press it twice. Like if I push it once to lock my phone it'll quickly go off and back on as if I pressed it twice. Also when pushing it to wake the screen it doesn't seem to respond at times and have to push it again. It happens very randomly. I'd say about 2 out of 10 times or so. I even flashed back to 4.2.2 for a few days and I had no issues whatsoever.

Seems to be for some. It's odd that only a few members have reported the issue. I'm sure there are others who do really have a button hardware problem, but I've pretty much ruled that out for myself.

I have the EXACT same behaviour!!
I didnt notice if it was because of android 4.3 but I have read about others saying the same thing.
Im about to leave the house to go the service centre and I found this
Im taking it anyway. Lets see what they say.
But its not 2 out of 10 for me. More like 7 out of 10
Really doubt that is the OS it had to be the power button get it replaced from the service centre that should solve the problem.
Facing the same problem but the service centre in my area does not have the power button in stock had asked me to wait for a week so that they can arrange it.

I went to the service center. The lady told me the engineer was on leave. I'll have to go on Monday again! She said it was nothing. He will only have to open it and clean the button and it will work. She said it was a common problem.

This has been accidentally installed (Chainfire3D) on my Rooted SGS4 AT&T 1337 MF3 - Now it is stuck on boot. Anyway to remove it?
Thanks in advance.
One would have to go through the process of clicking yes a few times and starting/setting up the app after installing. This doesn't sound like a full blown accident unless you had no idea what it does. The only way to remove it is through adb.

Yea, that's a hell of an accident. Sounds like the worst case of suicide I ever saw. Guy shot himself 6 times in the chest with a shot gun. And the shot gun only held 2 shells.

You're going to want to delete the chainfire apk (I don't know it's exact file name) from /system/app.
There is also drivers from it that need to be deleted. Google will tell you.

Did you have enable usb debug checked in the developer options on your phone. If not adb it's not going to work.
That is only to access adb while in the OS if I am not mistaken. Download mode and recovery are not part of he OS and therefore do not need debugging turned on.

If it was... I would have already been done.
Well I figured you wee trying everything possible before resorting to that.
There are 2 methods to get into recovery.
Power+volume up
When the splash screen shows, release power.
When the blue text shows in the upper left corner you can release the volume button.
If that method does not work
Volume up+home+power
When the splash screen shows, only release power.
When the blue text pops in the upper left corner you can release home and volume up.
Maybe this can help if you are having trouble getting to recovery.
