Woot woot!

I used ConnectBot to do some work on a supercomputer, then watched porn while my code was running. Not the entire time, of course.

Net surfing, music, video. Sometime - games.

lets do last sunday as a good example. control tv and Comcast (smart remote, LG TV remote, Xfinity TV remote) , read newspapers (press reader), GPS navigaton (Sygic), email, calendar (Splanner), beam video and audio to tv (netgear push to tv 3000 adapter, this does both widi and allshare, very cool), journals (Zinio), books (Kindle), comics, (comic reader), surf (internet or dolphin), cooking timer for stuff on grill (kitchen timer), night alarm clock (clock ics), weather channel.
During the week add note taking at meetings, rpn calculator if needed, weather channel, edit pdf documents (ezPDF or RepliGo Reder, or Adobe reader or Quickoffice HD).
In addition depending on interest star gazing (the night sky, goolge sky, star chart, skeye, sky orb).
Do I like this tablet, I would say yes t that .

I agree so far on the root. I have rooted my phone (HTC HD2) and HP touch pad (now gathering dust) and do not see a need to root so far. Wish the update to 4.2.2 or 5.0 would come in soon.

Yeah I would also like to receive 4.2/4.3 update. Mainly because of Multi-User (if Samsung includes it). I have rooted because So far My note 10.1 4.1.2 with a MultiWindow hack had enabled me to write movie scripts and to draw storyboards (with apps I use), while surfing Youtube/Internet for ideas. Pretty neat feature. :good:

I use it every morning, while having breakfast, to check the front page of the daily newspapers and check some feeds with Feedly.
I also use it daily to watch tv while having lunch/dinner and also browsing, playing some games.

Used it to read The Walking Dead comic

I am using it as a portable second monitor with AirDisplay

To play asphalt 8!
The game is damn smooth even on local wifi with multiplayers. My son used the transformer prime and he beat me as well.
I will use my tablet with bluetooth mouse and keyboard from next week as I am on a business trip and I can't carry a laptop weight with me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

Read some comics, played Asphalt 8, streamed some Young Justice from my Plex server.

I always use it as my cellphone because I'm weird that way. I will probably draw on it using Sketchbook Mobile Pro during my lunch break later.

To look at funny pics (loldroid app) while running backups on an Exchange server.
To take notes at a customer site and pics of receipts that print funky.
To browse the intertubes.

Your use with TF

Hello guys
just wondering what do you use your TF for?
i use it mostly for movies and browsing the web
and another question
are you using track pad or external mouse?

I used it as a travel device for watching movies, web browsing and email. Last summer we took a 12 day trip out of country and it was great having the tablet along. Play games in the morning; or check email at the hotel - stuff like that. I mostly watch movies when on the plane.
-
Kind of wish the display was a bit better - figure I'll upgrade to one of the new 1080p devices in 6 or 8 months. Right now I'm thinking that galaxy tab 7.7 will make a good book-reader.
I use the pad and dock quite often for school work.
Other than that, reading news mainly and browsing through forums and the web.

90+% of my time on the tablet is spent either browsing, or catching up on feeds in Google Reader, and sometimes both (opening up articles for further reading from the reader feeds). I'll do that while I'm sitting on the couch watching TV, etc. The other 10% is occasional light gaming basically.
I am an IT Manager / Network Administrator and I use the TF constantly at work for managing the network, servers, client machines, etc... as well as for browsing, games, instant messaging, and other personal uses as well. Generally speaking though, I could do my job entirely from my tablet from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection (or cell service)... unless of course is one of those odd days where I actually have to pull a cable or physically move a computer...

Web browsing and a lot of reading. As a budding developer, I read a lot technical books and its easy for me to learn new things and then rdp into my home system and do try them right then and there. Also used to do sys admin stuff when I can't be bothered to get out of bed.
i have just about replaced my laptop with my tf, i swear its never more than a few feet from me and very honestly in my hand at least 50 percent of my day doing everything from checking my emai and texting, to schoolwork and media consumption. and playing games of course,,,lol
i dnt however see a problem with this thread even if there was another thread that asked the same question... it was older and answered by different people. i dnt see anything wrong with asking a general question in the general or q&a i thought this is where it was supposed to be posted...meh whatever
I use it for pretty much everything... My HP ProBook 4510s has left my house like 2/3 times in the past 6/7 months XD
As an IT student, I use it in college the whole day, without having to worry about the battery, I can do everyting... and since I run my own virtualisation servers, I don't even have to use the computers at school anymore... I just need an internet coneectin, and I can use all the power of my servers if I need more power
But like I seaid, I use it for everything, reading/writing, browsing/getting the latest news, watching movies/clips, messeging............. What can't I do on it?

What do you use your xoom for?

As the topic speaks for itself, what do you guys use your tablet for? Been several months since I bought it now it seems to be of a bare use. Gaming device, multimedia( movie & photo collection) or education? I wanna use my device at its best

My wife has complained how much I use my Xoom. Maybe i'm a tech junkie, but I love this thing.
Most favorite uses:
1. Watch movies/tv shows
2. Read books
3. Read comics
4. download torrents
My primary uses (and the apps I use) are:
* Web browsing (browser, Chrome, Boat)
* Reading Comics (Komik)
* Watching saved movies (MX, RockPlayer)
* Streaming movies (Netflix)
* email (Gmail)
* Twitter (TweetCaster)
* Backup (second string) laptop using keyboard case (Splashtop, iTap)
I have plenty of content/apps/etc. to (but don't necessarily want to): Read books (Google Books, Kindle), Read magazines (Play Magazines), Do light gaming (Madden, Crosscourt Tennis, Temple Run, Angry Birds, etc.), Attend lectures for online classes (Flash Player), Listen to music (Mortplayer), Edit images (Photoshop Touch)
Mine gets used for everything at the moment, as my laptop destroyed itself lmao

I use my Xoom for just about everything these days. It lets me get away from my desk. Most important uses are e-mail on the go, connectbot to log into and administer servers from the road, web-browsing, callendar, contacts list, note taking, etc. The only thing that I really wish it had was a better word processor, but I even use it for editing documents when I am away from the office with the apps that are available.
The other thing it is good for is eating up a day or two of time every now and then when I decide to try to upgrade to a new rom. I don't do it often enough and it atkes me a while to catch back up on what is going on in the rom world :silly:

I'm trying to use mine as a desktop replacement, but I find there are some limitations that hiner that, in particular I seem to have issues with dropbox sync and quick office pro seems to have a number of limitations when working with large documents and spreadsheets. Great for kindle, evernote and wasting hours on Great Little War Game though
Unfortunatelly I did not use my Xoom much, so I just sold it a couple of weeks ago. I only had it for about 7 months.
Thought I would use it for surfing the web from the sofa or while travelling. Indeed I just wasted some time with crappy games or left it switched of for days. Some of my tasks required a pc so I did all my surfing and stuff there. I was a little sad giving it away but it was just too expensive and has a too high loss of value for leaving it in the box. Now I got an ultrabook wich fits my requirements better.
Reading books, gaming (CS FTW!), surfing the web, watching movies and soon to be used in university
I use it to look at p0rn LOL!!
Ok on a serious note, I barely use it. Only when I read manga, which the XOOM outdones itself for that simple task.
Gaming, YouTube, and browsing/emails.

Use my xoom for everything;
browsing,
email,
GPS (can mount it in my 4wd)
maps (live in outback Australia and go bush a lot),
videos,
movies,
work (download, fill in and upload about 150 pdf files a week),
lately getting into e-books,
the list goes on but I won't ,
my laptop is gathering dust in the corner (only used when I need to use adb).
Because of the great work of Team EOS I also get to update roms and this satisfied the geek in me.
Also love the portability; on a flight last week I could hold the xoom up to the window and get a GPS fix and then see what we were flying over on a map.

Hi Everyone I'm thinking of trading up the Transformer Prime for a Nexus 7. I got one for my mom, and I just like the size and feel in my hands vs the larger 10.1". My plan is to use to quickly take notes at meetings and the web.

Using which App(s) ?
Mine gets used for pretty much everything, web browsing, films/tv, music, games, I've even done some java and python programming on it.
I use mine for email and bedroom internet surfing when at home.
When away, I use Google Wallet and games.
Google News/RSS reading via "Reader HD" app (Awesome!!)
Browsing
IMDB app lots while watching TV/movies
Kindle app reading books
A bit of Gmail, though I also do that on my BlackBerry
That's about it I think
EDIT as for location, I use it at home on my couch, bed, patio, etc. Also use it at my mom's place when I'm over visiting. That's about it.
I mainly use it to kill time on the tube/trains. Read books, listen to music, study my notes and play games. When I have a connection, I also use it to check emails, bus timetables etc.
I use it for internet browsing on the couch, watching youtube vids, playing games here and there, bringing to a friends house to play music from, using as an e-book when on lunch at work, setting alarms at work, etc.
Books music fun toy games and of course...

1% - Other stuff
My most common daily use is for reading news. Specifically the Currents app (love it), Reader HD, Reddit and Pocket. That, plus a bit of social network and gaming and it pretty much consumes me. As for productivity, I have a Personal and Work homescreen that each has corresponding Gmail and Tasks widgets. Love this device.
Flipboard (no need for browers, look very nice)
Tunein
Movie
Game
Book
Use most in order from top.
Believe it or not...work. I do some IT consulting on the side and I needed something to allow me to work in an emergency but was small enough to carry with me anywhere and everywhere. I own a full license for Teamviewer which works well on Android. I also have email addresses at 4 client locations so this is my "central hub" for work and personal mail. I love that I can VPN into the sites, access file shares, remote into servers and workstations, etc. (Just made a hell of a lot more sense than an iPad) I also do my accounting on it and can print my invoices right on site as I have the printers setup with Google cloud print and with PrinterShare it's no problem to send my PDF invoices right to the printers.
Oh, and the other usual crap...Netflix, web browsing, and browsing several forums with Tapatalk. Before I forget, I also manage my stocks with Ameritrade.
There's more, but that's the gist of it.

Using it for music via bluetooth, taking notes at work meetings, video chat with my girl when I am traveling, access work cpu via Splashtop to write up orders, etc.

I mostly use mine passively for media consumption, web browsing & casual gaming. However the split screen pane in gmail when using a Nexus 7 means it's pretty good for emails too.

What do you use it for?

I'm thinking of purchasing a 32Gb Nexus 7 primarily to backup a lot of my photos and as a viewer for them. Obviously I'd be using it for other things such as web, email, maybe a few games etc.

Taking notes at work. My boss is a micro manager so I can take detailed notes with my stylus, 7Notes + Evernote and share that folder with him. He can see what I'm doing without the face time and I can get more real work done.
Watching recorded TV shows: I have a MythTV box which record shows to watch whenever I want. With using Handbrake I can schedule the transcoding of the MP4 files MythTV creates for me. Then copy them to my Nexus 7.
Playing games, right now addicted to SurvivorCraft.
News, Forum and Twitter reader: The Nexus 7 actually is a more comfortable platform to do casual reading than a desktop pc. I love the form factor, it's light weight so easy to hold when on the couch or in bed.
Music: Pandora and my MP3s. Only keep the top 20 albums I have on it though, not all my music.
I haven't gotten into using it for photos yet, as the camera on it isn't that good. I'm an amateur photographer, have a NIkon D40 + lenses and stuff. I prefer to view my pictures from an online source, or on my Myth box which is in the living room.
If you want to use it as a media backup device I would recommend a OTG USB cable and external hard drive with it's own power source. I think I read in another thread the Nexus7 doesn't have enough power for a hard drive via USB.

What kind of stuff do you do with the nexus 7 v2

I remember seeing a similar thread in the Nexus 7 2012 section. Cant seem to find it so hope its ok to start another topic on this subject. Aside from the regular stuff (Web,Movies, music, reading, etc) what else do you use it for? Any interesting exploits or cool stuff that might not seem obvious to most?

I haven't yet gotten into it on my 2013 model but, on my 2012, I used a PS3 controller to play emulated NES and PS1 games. I'm planning on getting a Slimport adapter so I can bring it to friend's houses and play with them on their TVs. Aside from that, it's handy for controlling my Linux media PC via VLC Remote and it also works for controlling YouTube on my PS3. Pick a video and tell it to play on the PS3. It's handy because it makes searching for videos a lot faster.

sent through space time.
This is my first tablet (I know I am very late to the party). I am still getting to how I want to use it and where it is a better option then my phone or laptop.
So far my main uses have been (in order of importance to me)
Digital notpad (with google keep) - goodbye paper! I have to take notes all day to keep track of what I am doing, been looking to get rid of paper for this for a long time but the phone was too small, and I dont want to carry a laptop around. This is perfect!
Youtube/TV on demand - A lot easier on this then laptop, nicer to the eyes then the phone
Facebook/Email/XDA/internet - again nicer on a bigger screen then phone and more comfortable then using a laptop.
I have tried a bit of gaming on it and do like it for this purpose, but I have a lot more to try. Oddly a lot of game I have seem to be very much aimed at phone size so are a bit unwieldy on a tab.
Real test as a media device will come when I next travel and load it up with TV and movies (this was one of my main motivations for buying one).
I am also yet to try it for writing and editing office documents, I think I want a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse before I start up on this though.
One thing I probably wont do with it is use it as a GPS. I use Strava and Mytracks on my phone all the time when cycling. I also use tracknavigator to give me turn-by-turn directions on my routes. I can get the tab in a jersey pocket (I have been when commuting without my backpack) but its too large to use as a sports device really. That said I want to get it working with the ANT+ sensors on my race bike and see if it can be a good indoor training tool when I'm in the house on the turbo trainer over winter.
This is the first tablet I've ever owned. So far I use it for media consumption and Web browsing. I have a few games on it also

My first tablet too. Had it for around 4 days. Use it for:
Movies
TV Shows
Youtube
Browsing
Notepad
Video Calling
Controlling my NAS server
Remote for laptop
Some games
Some document editing
Emails
So pretty much everything I did on my phone. So much easier to do on a bigger screen, and the resolution is brilliant for movies. Also helps my phone battery last a little longer since I am not using it that much.
surf the web/forums, and stream radio tune in pro app mostly, and download chitload of apps
It's an excellent book reader device, in some cases it may be better than eink i have around 20+ hours of screen time while reading, fine enough for me.
Everything online media (its useless without data connection) & of course my easily accesible porn bank n_n
How does remote control on this tablet works? Any special apps needed?
