If your phone is rooted you can try to flash a kernel which supports slide to wake (e.g. Franco, etc) and install the App "Touch Control (Nexus 4)" ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101488). Then you can wake your device either by double tapping or sliding over the screen. No need for buttons.

Center button dysfunction.

The center button on my SGS i9000 is not working. Pressing it has no effects. Service center says that they need to replace the entire screen to fix the problem which is very expensive for me.
So I installed a jb ROM and activated touch button panel. It works fine but the issue now is that the center button is dysfunctional and it gets pressed on its own. It wakes up phone from sleep and keep the screen on for hours. Also, during use it brings up recent screen which is annoying. I want to know is there any ROM or mod possible to disable the center physical button completely. I really need help on this.

I ffound this guide for fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601003
but many people tried and broke their screen. I tried to open the phone. But couldnt open the screen without risk of breaking it as it was glued quite well.. so i left it.......
The problem is without button i can use the phone but the button keeps the screen on during lock which drains battery.. so i wanted to disable battery awake by center button.

Power off after unlocking the screen ONLY?

Hi guys!!
I recently installed Cerberus anti theft to protect my Nexus 4.I noticed that you can easily power off the phone altough the screen is locked.
Is there a way to prevent this?I mean that you have to unlock the screen first and then you have the right to power off the phone.

Are you worried about someone getting access to your phone? I have Cerberus and if my phone goes missing, I just use PIN lock from the Cerberus website.

The point he is trying to make is that if anyone got the phone they could just shut it off and none of your commands from Cerberus would be received.

You mean the hold power for 10 seconds? That's a hardware feature you cannot disable.

Not only the continuous hold of power button but also when you press it for 1 second it gives you the option to power off the phone.I don't want to stop this but I want to happen only when the screen is unlocked first.Isn't there an application for this?

That does you no good if the phone is powered off. He is looking for a way to disable the power off feature at the screen lock swipe/pin/pass (whatever it is you happen to use). When you correctly input your secret swipepin/pass you can then power off the phone.
I too am in need of this. would have helped recover a lost phone that I am looking for that would be easy to locate if the thing was actually powered up, but since it can be powered off without first unlocking the main screen I think I may be **** out of luck.

If your rooted, you can try ''Touch Control''
It's on the playstore. It enables to lock and unlock your device just by sweeping the screen.
You need to be rooted and have a kernel which supports modules (franco kernel for example).
I can provide more help if you want to go through this process.
If you really want to have the power button fixed, replace it. It could be the outer part, or the switch (small circuit board).
Both can be ordered from eBay.
you can also use volume rocker to wake... but you need a custom rom
I have the same problem.. It started becoming worse after the 4.3 update... Guess it's a software bug... I'm expecting a fix.. Let's hope so..

Spen only working with capacitive buttons

So a few days ago I downloaded and flashed a kernel (accidentally) that wasn't meant for my device (Tapatalk error). After flashing my display was so off that I barely could use the phone, and literally was inches off on every touch. So I factory reset and then went back to stock with Odin. After this didn't work I read about hidden menu 2663 and after a general FW update my screen was usable again (yay!).
But now my issue is that the Spen stopped working. I changed the tip and no luck. Oddly enough, it works on the capacitive buttons, but not at all on the screen. Any ideas how I can get it back are much appreciated.
EDIT: Got it working. Required flashing a newer RON and running 2663 hidden code that had additional FW settings.

You might want to try recalibrating your device's internal hardware via the hidden options. Which should fix everything from the touchscreen accuracy problems to the capacitive buttons.

Hmm...Then go ahead and run the sensor hub update. Does the pen work on the capacitive buttons? Have you tried changing the tip (phone comes with spare tips for the Spen)?

Yes the pen work with the capacitive buttons.
Now I haven't spare tips, but I probe the same pen with another phone (note5) and work fine.

My T-Mobile Note 4 also has capacitive buttons that do not respond to finger touch, but does respond to the Spen. I have tried restarting, changing the light timeout, factory reset, the secret menu updates talked about above, and have yet to find a fix. Any other ideas?

Prior to the problem that you have mentioned, did you open your unit to say replaced boards or display assembly? Because if you do,the problem might be with the connectors not fitted well. One of those connectors from the display assembly was for the LED and Digitizer(capacitive) and the other was for the S-Pen.(It has this metal film that recognizes it)

I did replace the screen and LCD. I double checked the ribbon connectors, but it can't hurt to check them again.
I have also this problem with screen..the bottom didn't work, but I solve problem with that code *#2663# I update those 3 things and my screen is back to normal.
I also have t-mobile sm-n910t ,and it was on stock rom.
Now I have custom rom so,these code dont work anymore..

Tip: I used to have a hard time placing together those ribbon connectors in place. What i did was to placed a tiny slice of eraser to lift up those in place connectors so the motherboard could fit with a little amount of pressure. I hope this would work for you.
Best of luck!
