I just dropped my wildfire and now it has a weird mark on its screen, Ive rooted it and I' running Cyanogen so i think my warranty is void.
It looks like some kind of watermark in the center of the screen
Please look at the attached image and give me any suggestions of what it could be and how to fix it.
Its about to give up from what it seems. The best bet in my view will be to change the screen. Since this comes under accidental damage, I am pretty sure it is not covered under warranty anyway, but, if you wish to try your luck, Unroot your phone by flashing a RUU from Shipped ROM's which will give you your stock, unrooted phone back.

what would putting it in rice do?
Dry out the water. Rice is said to emit heat when stored due to which it is also used to ripen fruits.
see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8-0ugigDKs for why
Ok, my story. I`ve dropped my phone on the floor about 2 months ago. After that there were stucked pixels on the screen. I`ve run JScreenFix to try to fix them, but in result i`ve got more stuck pixels + some black stripes. Anyway I was running that JScreenFix software just to checkout what will happen next and unfortunately while phone was running program i`ve put it on external hdd with the screen on the bottom. As result i got less those stuck pixels and stripes, so i`ve decided to put my phone on the radiator and run software. After some hours my screen was like new and still it is
Happy end
I hope that my solution will help.

Just now. I was on xda app and suddenly the screen started having a titty attack (its happened numerous times before on froyo)
i wasnt worried cuz i figured my processor was just being overworked so i downclocked it to 400mhz.
Usually this happens in miren or dolphin. Then it clicked. It MUST BE ALL THE ENERGY BEING USED TO RENDER THE WHITE! cuz i always use my [phone at or near max brightness....
the thing was, i lowered the brightness and it stopped, but then it just shut off....i had to unplug it and plug it back in for the charger to even start charging it again.
So my question...is the screen dying (which means it has been for a while.) or is the processor dying (which means it has been for a while lol)
just wonderin are you using a stock battery or a cheapy from ebay? i had this happen too, and it turned out to be neither the screen or the core. it was only happening when i was using my aftermarket chinese battery.
im using stock battery
maybe its not getting enough juice anymore? i do plug my phone into things alot...lol

I had a screen crap out on me. I had similar symptoms leading up to it. The next thing that happened was the touchscreen became unresponsive unless keyboard was open. Then it stopped altogether. Thank goodness for my insurance because it did die. When I took it to a Repair store they had to open a new one to replace it because it is not a common issue.

How bad is it, I know we can all experience the screen f'ing up just by raising the brightness all the way and go to settings>display>and uncheck power save mode then go to any screen that is white. Its a problem with the super amoled.
But if you have the power save mode thing checked I think ur f'ed

This has happened go me before. But it was because I was trying to flash roms over a custom stock rom and I didn't know. I suggest you Odin back to stock. Leave it for a week or 2.

My screen flickers really hard on all white pages when the screen iks on full bright and power save off. Not all the time though, only when my battery is under 20 percent or so.

Similar experience but usually only when under 10-15% battery left and full brightness. The screen just can't draw enough current I guess.

Ohhhh, well that's interesting. Because if you OC or if your phone heats up enough data corrupts and your screen spazzes out. But I wonder if weather could play an affect towards that.

My screen goes glitchy when its on 100% brightness, and I go to a mostly white app(like google search), but its cause mines a refurb.

Phone vibrates 5 times and has a green LED light that stays on. I was running Dark Unicorn v2 before this. It was on Safe Mode. I rebooted into recovery, and now the phone vibrates 5 times and a green light appears. VOL DOWN + POWER does not do anything besides that green-light five-vibration thingy.
Any ideas?
From what I read before, it's not dead. It put itself on some kind of mode. I don't remember where I read about this but let me do a quick search. In the mean time, have you tried adb?

I've been reading a lot about it. There was something called safe mode. From what I've read, it seems to be a problem with my volume button (perhaps the phone believe the volume up button is being pressed).
I cannot use ADB as the computer does not detect the phone/SD.
Does your volume up button feel like it's going out? Also try a battery pull then Vol down + power

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "going out", but from the outside there doesn't seem to be anything physically wrong with it. I also never had any problems with it while I was using the phone normally.
The battery pull and VOL DOWN + POWER gives me five vibrations, and then a permanent green LED. I can't get the phone exchanged because I'm in India, and my warranty has already expired.
Well sorry but I'm out of ideas man. I'll keep searching for an answer and if I find something I'll let you know. Hopefully someone else sees this and has a solution

Thank you for the information. Guess there's really nothing I can do to save my phone then...
Well, at least I will be out of the T-Mobile contract in February. Then I can get a new phone, and use a temporary crappy one until then.

This happened to me and I kept trying to boot into clockworkmod recovery. No matter what I did, it wanted to either do as you stated above or it would immediately try to load off the sd card my pd15img. I simply turned off the phone, pulled the sd card out, and when the phone went to the hboot screen with a volume up and power, or volume down, I then put the sd card back in and selected recovery. I don't know if this is what's wrong with yours, but I definitely had that 5 vibration flashing light issue.

What does the phone do when its plugged in? I only ask because mine was doing this same thing and it turns out it was a problem with my battery. I got a new one from Ebay for about 5 bucks but I also convinced T-Mobile that it was my phone and got it replaced. I had Insurance on it of course.

I had that happen once also, I did the following and it booted up.
1) take battery out for at least 15min, (I don't know why, but it worked)
2) then do the volume-down+ power it should come right back up.
3) If I remember right, the battery that was in the unit giving me problems, was less than 20%, that very well could have been the real issue. Find a way to charge the battery then pull it.

Problem is, my phone doesn't even go into recovery...or hboot.
Any solutions yet? I've been reading this and have done everything here.
I've bought myself a new replacement battery off eBay. Charged it over night and still nothing. Powering up the phone, it vibrates. After powering up the phone and left it on for 5 min, I waited to see if it'll recognize my phone through the computer so I can check if it's the phone or the lcd, but still nothing. Any suggestion will be really grateful! And I have no insurance. Bought it used over Craigslist.
Sorry, I'm not trying to jack anyone's thread. Just didn't want to start a new one with almost the same problem.
I think your volume button is stuck was reading somewhere that someone fixed it by taking his volume button apart and it was stuck pressing up I think and that's y it was doing that not sure if this would help u at all but you might wanna try that

Read that post it shows that the volume up button is stuck. The vibrations happens to me to if I power my phone down and then hold the up button and try and power on so I think that's the cause of all this

This might be caused by either connecting Ur phone to a faulty charger or a faulty laptop(power surge). It happened to me once. By then I was using a Nokia e75. And I was charging it at a friend's place.it was connected to his laptop which was using a charger which had a low voltage than what the pc needed, whenever the laptop was disconnected from the power source it just goes off, reason being the charger is unable to charge the battery. So the electricity went off and came back and before I realized, there was that line on the screen. It was just a line at first but continued to spread. So I guess u have to change the screen or LCD .

The flashing green LED keeps going off, yet I have nothing. No email, no SMS, no missed calls...nothing. And it's sort of driving me crazy. Any way to figure out what's causing this?
I only have this happen to me if I use the quick reply for sms. It goes away if I open the drop down menu.

The first time it happend it was in bootloop for 20 minutes as i messed with it trying to get it to turn off, i finally fig out how to turn it off but it would loop every time i turned it back on so it was crazy hot so i put it in the freezer to cool it down and bam it booted up, every time it has looped that is the only way i have been able to get it to fully boot
