Android 4.3 - Galaxy S III General

I've been doing some reading on various sites and came across information on the new android 4.3 and it said it comes with new open gl es 3 which the galaxy s3 isn't compatible with so I was wondering where the future is with the s3 now that new phones will be able to handle the 4.3 and the galaxy s4 was the first phone to be compatible.
There are videos of the gl es 3 android on youtube and it looks so much better and some developers are working on gl es 3 games.
Also I read that android 5.0 won't be coming out for specific phones and tablets and the compatible list will be changed from what previously was leaked because of compatible issues

OpenGL ES 3.0 advertized as feature of Android 5.0 KLM, not 4.x.
Do you have any official spec of 4.3 where it's clearly written that OGL ES 3.0 as a feature of 4.3?
Looking into I9505G 4.3 release, i don't see any files related to OGL ES3.0. I see OGL libraries for 1.1 and 2.0, and nothing for 3.0.

ok. I see that libGLESv2_adreno200.so actually supports OGL ES 3.0.
Btw, i see someone ported I9505G 4.3 ROM for I9500 (it has glitches but works somehow) which has no libraries for 3.0 of course. So, most likely OGL ES 3.0 is not required but optional. I doubt UI requires exactly ES3.0 extensions on 4.3. It should be just addition for future games.

I have no idea what you're on about? The 4.3 I9505G rom has the following OpenGL libraries:
libGLESv1_CM.so (CM doesn't stand for CyanogenMod in this context)
libGLESv2.so
libGLESv3.so

Google I/O 2012 - Android 4.1 - All Jelly Bean Discussion here

Hello XDA World!!
Google I/O 2012 started and we know about new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean almost everything, but let see. The new Android version is FASTER, MORE STABLE, MORE BEATIFUL. What does it mean ?? That means NO brand new Android like 4.0, just some improvements and new features but its have new Tripple Buffering (Rendering speed is 60 frames per second) feature and system is lighter and faster so my opinion is that maybe in the future, about 6 months, we can get this version on our X8. I think that this Android looks pretty good and the new features are awesome. First OTA Update will be next month (Galaxy S & Galaxy Nexus) so nAa will get this version of Android and brings us new experience to our lovely Smarthphones.
If you know something hot about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean share it with us.
Sorry for my English

Guys I have one off-topic question. Cause you are phone masters when I can find some good smartphone for good price ?? I mean like used Galaxy Nexus with few scratches for max $200?? It can be another phone but no Nokia 3310 if you know what I mean... Just some good smartphone with bigger screen and better hardware at least 1GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM. Thanks
EXAMPLE: I found brand new Xperia U without scratches and with 2years warranty in full pack for $150

I am not sure what region-specific changes could be in a kernel! Guess I will need to download and have a look. I wanted to add some governors to the kernel -- lulzactiveq mainly, from Gokhan's sources, because I was getting great performance with that on the S3.

Sorry to disappointing you, but codeworkx (Major CM developer) has publicly announced that he's not going to do anything with Exynos based devices because Samsung didn't release a proper documentation for it.
Source:

Source compile fine out-of-the-box btw (not always the case with Samsung). No device yet, so not sure if it boots (not always the case with Samsung )...

From an AOSP perspective : This means that if anyone is willing to take the effort it should be possible to have a CM10 build up. Unfortunately, the kernel is not the only thing needed and the CM devs are disillusioned with Samsung.
Don't hold your breath, but actually the learnings from S3 which has a decent working build should help if someone wants to do it.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
If anyone is trying to compile the Samsung source drop, a heads up: the Cypress touchkey drivers are missing from the source. Use the driver sources from the I9300 update 5 (/drivers/input/keyboard/cypress). Works fine with that.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
So I don't really understand anything about sources, I have to ask: Is this the Exynos source that devs have been upset about not being able to access?

Only ROMs based in stock will have touch less. Check the dev section. Read the opening post. There's only a few, so won't take long.

Make sure your phone is compatible with ROMs before doing anything.
And do a nandroid backup in recovery first.
Maybe the CyanogenMod11S made for the OnePlus will have that feature, though I'm guessing it's made for Snapdragon 800 architecture.

I've been wondering the same thing since the One was announced. When developers started working on ROMs, it was my understanding that touchless controls didn't exist because they couldn't figure out how to make them work. Maybe the One will give them the information they need to make it happen for us.
