no, i am only using franco kernel. it also happens on stock kernel
Well franco kernel does, afaik, oc the gpu, but if it happens on stock too it's probably not that.
This is probably something you have already thought of, but maybe try reflashing a completly stock rom with no extra apps installed and see if the problem still persists. Best of luck.

thanks, i'll try reflashing now hope it solves it.
one question though, what do you mean on "this is probably something you have tought of?" sorry for the dumb question
I just meant you might of already tried it.
btw, just checked and franco's kernel indeed doesn't oc the gpu.. good on franco.

i tried just that and after opening certain apps there it goes again
still hoping that its not a hardware problem
I am having this exact issue, and I haven't rooted or OC'd my phone at all yet, so it's not that. It's either a hardware defect or a graphics driver bug.
I also have an Iconia A500 tablet, and ever since updating it to ICS, it has had similar graphical corruption issues, which leads me to believe this is a problem with the way the graphics are being implemented in Android. Why it only seems to affect some users is a mystery though...
It seems to capable of occurring in any 2D app (including system menus), but I have yet to see it in a video or a game. Pulse (the newsreader) seems to be particularly susceptible.
I noticed this glitch too. I saw it in different apps, but I think, it only occurs when the keyboard is shown.
I have seen the same issue on my phone but a lot worse, the whole screen is scrambled. I've seen it happen while using the browser and also while using the camera.
I'm completely stock, never rooted. I've only had the phone for a week.
I get the same exact problem.. Even fully stocked
Software issue

Hi,
I currently use a ROM based on Google Edition 4.3 and it is fast and stable. I hear that the new stock 4.3 is also much faster.
My question, has anyone used both? How do the speeds match up? I would expect GE 4.3 to be faster due to its smaller foot print, is this correct?
Your advice and comments are appreciated.
For me I m very impressed with 4.3 GE I m using it in 9505. I also used galaxy nexus with stock 4.3 for few days. I must say my 9505 giving same feeling with GE 4.3

Google Edition will always be faster because, compared to touchwiz it is much lighter. Although I have stuck to Stock because I love some of Samsungs software such as MultiWindows, Air Gesture (show notifications by waving at the phone) , AirView.
These are all the reasons I bought an S4. I can't justify installing another ROM so I install a custom launcher and keyboard

I prefer touchwiz..amazing custom kernels available..lots of mod to give it complete makeover..i debloated my rom using rom cleaner leaving only s-stuffs..and, i find battery life better on tw
Tried GE..it sucked for me..missed tw featues and camera...i actually use some of those "gimmicky" features...only advantage i see in GE/AOSP timely updates..
Great feed back guys, thank you.
Come on guys, think about it. It would be so fast.
Has someone made a GB ROM for the Nexus 4? I bet it would be wicked fast and smooth compared to other ROMs with higher Android versions. Is there anything that holds it back from getting GB?

This is ridiculous. KK is more optimized than previous versions. JB is faster on my vibrant than when it was on older versions. My N4 is significantly more responsive on KK than JB. Going backwards will fix nothing.

Is kit kat on your N4 not messing up the responsiveness of your home and back keys? It lags so bad for me, and location services take longer on 4.4 for me. Idk why.

It'd be slow, the newer version are much more optimized, you can test web browsing with GB vs JB.
If you want to use GB, get an original Galaxy Note and use Odin to flash it back to Gingerbread. That was one of my favorite phone and one of the last phone Samsung made with decent build quality, imo (here come the Samsung fanboys).
If home button lags for you, try a different browser.

You don't think the Galaxy S5 has good build quality? The Galaxy note was more of a square brick than a phone imo. I think GB would fly through every benchmark and be way better in real world performance than JB or Kit Kat.

KK most optimized? do thell me, that home button that takes 3 times more to do the thing, ahh and those god awful lag in Dungeon Hunter 4,i got back to 4.3.
PS: yeah it would fly, about ics is so easy because of lgog, im already making changes in some cm9 roms with those libs, but i dont know why lg uses adreno 200 blobs O_OO(or atleast is what says on logcat, it fails to create the buffer :/)

First off, going back to GB is just silly. Not only will GB been slower than kit kat, it is also ugly as hell in comparison, with half the functionality, plus many google apps need android 4.0+ to get their full functionality.
Kit kat runs faster than anything else on the nexus 4, especially with ART on. If you get lags/issues, then something else went wrong, most likely in the way you upgraded. I suggest you flash the factory images through fastboot.

ics from samsung?, the wors optimized android is 1.6 on htc g1, it was 2x more slower then 1.5 on dat device
Ps: is not lag like u running android on a 200mhz device, but its some little lags like samsung roms have.(who used s3 with ics knows what i mean).
Ps2: "Kit kat runs faster than anything else on the nexus 4, especially with ART on. If you get lags/issues, then something else went wrong, most likely in the way you upgraded. neither me dont know why, but yeah, i got better wifi speed(some ppl are complaining that) but lags on screen buttons, and on some simple things like recent apps menu. :/.
Lag is always relative to the individual person. Something that is considered smooth and "lag free" may seem the opposite to someone else.

It was behaving erratic for me too until I started with a clean slate. Backup your data, let the factory image flash do its job and voila, fast Kitkat.

I installed the new official rom v50020a and are disappointed with performance especially in games. That performance was superior v18a. This rom seemed to me the most powerful than all roms, since the battery is emptied very quickly, especially in stand by. In AnTuTu benchmark 18a give almost 27,000 and v20a less than 24,000. In Real Racing 3 feel the difference. V50020a is final rom for OTA? Performance and battery worse than the first official rom. I think I'll go back to 4.2.2.

The problem is that the rom v18 of battery empties very quickly in standby. I have to install a custom rom based on v18 with another kernel.

What do you call 'very quickly'? I found it emptied slower than with 4.2.2 in standby with WiFi on.
I set the wi-fi to be turned off when the tablet is in stand by. It is among the settings after installing a new rom.

I overdid it a little with unloading the battery. Battery runs exactly I was wi-fi settings on standby.

Did you notice any difference on the screen brightness, gamma values and 7 spots on the bottom?
Jessooca said:
The battery life is actually better,by nearly 2 hours. I have tested and ran it for 5 days, it's all about your settings. If you have the screen on 50% one day or 65% another day it's always going to fluctuate.
Theres no complaints about the battery life with 18 here, easily I get 2 hours more. Some days 4.

The fix for Watching Amazon Prime is in a thread by, i believe it was Surviveland....
Make sure that you have UNinstalled the flash player installed in your device if you have one installed first and then install the hacked one for compatibility reason.
1) Download Dolphin Browser from the Play Store
[/B]You MUST have Dolphin Jetpack on in the settings to enjoy it.
As far as I have noticed, Dolphin Jetpack better solves the compatibility with flash player, such as crash issue & freeze issue in full screen.
2) Download the hacked flash player HERE: http://goo.gl/MuU9SU
If your device refused to install apk outside Google Play, you need to change your settings in your device (Settings> Securities> Unknown resources) to allow installation of apps from unknown sources.
3) Make sure that the flash setting in Dolphin Browser (Click Menu>Settings>Web Content>Flash Player) is on.

After seeing many different comments. I wanted to get a general idea on whether to update LG G2 to 4.4.2 Kitkat or stay with the 4.2.2 JellyBean version?

Oh no. One of the reasons why i ditched my nexus 4 for lg g2 is because nexus 4 had bluetooth connection issues with my car. Looks like it has to do with google 4.3 and 4.4+ roms no matter what phone you have. I have heard only sense and touchwiz didnt have this issue in KK. As i drive a lot, i need this feature. Looks like 4.4.3 fixes bluetooth - hope we get it for lg g2.
Other than that only things you will loose going to KK is
flash wont work with stock browser even if you use hacked flash player - works with dolphin+jetpack though.
stock browser inverted rendering wont work - dolphin night mode is great though.
Battery drain difference between the versions are minimal. I tried both in my nexus 4. If you experience a drain, it might be due to play services. some versions keep the location services running even if you turn off the location. I use appops to turn it off and i get good battery in KK.
What kind of issue you have with bluetooth? Not connecting? or not auto connecting with paired devices?
Edit: Bluetooth working fine for me with kitkat stock. Same car with which i had problems with nexus 4, works with lg g2.

I'm really thinking of going back to JB. Battery was heaven on there. I used to go 30 minutes SOT before it dropped to 99%. Now, after 12 minutes it drops. Battery life is not bad but once you taste batter, well, who doesn't want to stay at better. I just underclocked to 1.5Ghz for the day to see battery usage. First time underclocked with any device.
