This morning i woke up and there was a pink line on my screen. I did not drop the phone or water damage, It happened while phone is staying all night. I called the samsung and they said i need to send the phone and they will fix it. I do not know why is that happened. Representative told me maybe because of after market chargers.

Hi. Just out of curiosity was it an LCD fault or hardware problem as I have the same problem on my i9505. I am about to order a new screen as it isn't under warranty. Just wanted to find out before I spend out.
Thank you.

Any idea what did they do? Did they replace the LCD or did they somehow fix the one with the pink line?

Ok so somebody made me accidentally drop my phone, it landed screen down and ever since then I have been getting random dead pixels (they are always white though) and my sdcard will randomly dismount from the system. I've used pixel fixer and it did work but only for about a couple hours or sometimes a day. I was wondering though if I bring it to the store and tell them it was a phone thing, like a bug in the os or something, wouldn't they kind of have to give me a free one?

Hmm, depends what they find. If you give it to them and they find that theirs broken plastic or anything indicating physical damage then they'll charge you. If not then yes, they would give you a free one. I think though that you have to call in, can't confirm this but when I've done warranty on phones with t-mobile it's always been over the phone and they send out a new phone and an empty box to send back the broken one in.
thanks

Thanks, but do you know roughly how much they'll charge if they do find physical damage, I remeber my blackberry pearl got wet and I had to pay $120 to replace it WITH INSURANCE
if you call warranty and tell them it is still inside warranty and they say it's not then it's $180, i called them a week or so after i got the phone because i missed a step in something i was doing the the phone wouldn't boot. fortunately i got it up and running like 5 minutes after i called and just sent the replacement back to them
Anyone out there on Bell having the problem of dust under the screen?
I know it doesn't affect function now, but it will definitely be a major problem with time if something isn't done about it.
I called Samsung Canada but they told i have to call Bell.
I called bell and they told me Samsung does't repair such issues so there is nothing they can do about it.
In other countries at least from a forum on modaco. So if there are a number of us facing the same problem here maybe we can put together a petition and get it repaired by samsung. Since from the forum on modaco it is definitely a defect in the manufacturing that is causing the problem rather than improper use or care.
yeah, it realy seems to be a problem!! i am lucky! 5months no dust ohh mine is unlocked-unbranded from singapore, maybe that has something to do with it?

Yea maybe. For all you know samsung used cheap parts since Bell probably wanted it cheap. Interesting to know that yours has no dust issues. Lucky you.
I have also dust under screen after 4 months. Mine is from orange, and many many peoples from my country have the same problem. I wrote to samsung an they say that if dust is located near bottom left corner it will be fixed for free under warranty.
Yep.i also have dust under the screen.mine's from t-mobile.i'll pay the t-mobile shop a visit soon.

Right, good to know. How interesting to know that samsung says its covered under warrenty in some countries but in others its not. i am guessing you are in the UK since yours is from orange. Maybe i should also send an email instead of calling. Thanks for sharing this info
Mine from Starhub (Singapore). I also face same problem, dust under screen. I already went to their service center and they said they will take 2 days for that cleaning. Too bad!!

was your reply from Bell or samsung?
It is really getting worse n my phone by the day and now the entire left side of the screen on my phone has dust. and there are dusts diagonally up to the middle of the screen.
Well for me thats it with both Bell and Samsung.
I am never going to buy any other Samsung product in my life. And i am going to try and get someone to take over my contract from Bell then i will certainly move to another carrier. If i dont find someone to take over i will pay that ECF.

Screen Dust - Don't bother repairing!
I had paid "Bell" to have mine cleaned and the dust returned within days. Lost cause unless someone can suggest/explain how to clean it yourself and seal it properly!
It doesn't seem like HTC asks you over the phone. Do they just get the phone and then charge you if it is an unlocked bootloader?
My phone isn't rooted, but I was asked if I'd rooted it in one of my two warranty swaps.
I'm in the process of doing that now. My rooted phone has been with HTC for a few days and I have not heard anything yet. I'll update when or if I do.
many people on these forumns have without issue.
they charged my $55 for a replacement because of my unlocked b/l.. good for the pople who got away with it though

What was the process that was executed for this? Did they call you? Say something? Did you try and get out of it?
nope. i got my inquiry a couple days after i sent it in and it said that my cost was $55. i called them and they said it was "something i did". but the only thing i would have done was unlock the bootloader. i hadnt dropped it or scratched... basically brand new. so.. much luck you. hopefully you dont get flamed for trying to rip HTC off, like me in the other thread i started haha

I'm not trying to rip them off. I will not hide it if I'm asked and I haven't been so far. What do you mean you got your "inquiry"?
I'm sending mine next week just for the dust under the screen problem. why are you guys sending yours?
Because of my atrocious battery. Although, they offered to send a free battery if I thought mine was bad.
Has anyone returned it for a full refund (or minus $55) with an unlocked boot loader? I wouldn't mind doing that and picking up the Milestone instead.

First (new) phone had a problem with the g sensor and an ill-fitting bottom plastic bit.
Second (first swap) phone had a blue tint to the screen, and a very noticeable blue tint in the bottom fourth or fifth of the screen. Also a dead pixel.
Third (second swap) phone has a much better screen, but still a bit of noticeable blue tint along the bottom edge. Also, the horizontal g sensor is off by quite a bit, and it has the same ill-fitting bottom plastic issue the first had, only much less annoying than the first.
I'm calling tomorrow to do a third swap, hoping this one won't have any issues. If it does, I'll keep whichever is better, and wait a few months before doing another swap. Maybe some of the later AT&T batches won't have the same kinds of problems.
Even with all that, this is the best phone I've ever had. I'm just being super picky after forking over $530. The swaps have been easy; I get a new one overnighted and then send the old one back in the same box with a fedex label htc provides. I have zero complaints about the service, I just wish I'd gotten a perfect phone in the beginning. =)

The Milestone also has the dust problem. I came from a Telus Milestone because it got a speck of dust and I was afraid more would get in. Now I have a speck of dust under my Nexus but it is really small and no more has gotten in.

Well, if battery is an issue couldn't just have replaced your battery? That would cause no concern over the phone itself, so maybe they haven't checked the bootloader yet...

Hmmm.. I'm having trouble with my N1 as well, but I'm reluctant to send it in in fear that they'll charge 55 dollars over the unlocked bootloader just to repair just the power button.
:\
I got mine on Friday morning from a SoCal RadioShack which had 5 in stock. Late afternoon I noticed a dead pixel (pink) on the white background of the SMS screen. Then after further looking, I noticed that on a all white background, my screen has wavy light yellow lines going up and down the screen. They are going to order me a new phone and then I'll do the exchange. Had to get them to agree to this after telling them that I would cancel my new contract and go purchase the phone and a new contract somewhere else if I had to return the phone and then wait days for a new one as they had suggested.
Searched online and it looks like a few other folks have the same issue or dead white pixel on a black background. I would advise anyone to check before you drive away with your new Evo. Perhaps take a picture with your finger over the lense to check the all black and then open something else that shows all white to check for a dark pixel.
Not too upset with this because I'm so happy with the phone overall and I figure this Evo is like a test unit for me to go app crazy with....Lemons into lemonade.....
I got 2 of them one would shut off by itself.
i went to the store told them whats up, they didnt care, one of the idiots there actually told me to use the insurance to get a replacement.
I told them I don't think so, I will go to another place to get a replacement after I return it here.
I emailed the ceo of sprint (Jerry Andriano) and I got an email from him this morning (Sunday) telling me that he needs the names of the people that told me to use the insurance, store location and to call (he gave me number to contact him) to resolve the problem at once.

(Facepalm)... unlike many CEO's he is actually in the Sprint commercials with his name on the screen. You actually knows what he looks like. Also I truly doubt he would respond to you personally as he does get a little busy from time to time
I'm surprised they argued with you. It's probably because they're flying off the shelves and most stores don't have any?
I took mine back yesterday because there's a slight defect in the screen that looks like something between the glass and the sensor. Nothing actually wrong, just bugs me a bit. The Sprint store had a replacement ready and was going to replace it on the spot. I put it off till today because mine was rooted and I wanted to put it back to stock before returning it.
Sprint has multiple CEO's.

Are you sure the yellow lines aren't part of the touch screen. I too have noticed this on an all white screen, but I assumed that it was simply part of the capacitive touch screen mechanics.
I seen this on some of my RSS feeds but thankfully I havent had any issues on mine or my wifes Evo

You could be right but I wasn't able to find a def answer to that. Or maybe I didn't look hard enough but it does seem odd then that some folks don't have the issue.

I don't have this. However on my Nova panel, the screen would turn slightly pink when I would be in the browser and would touch it. My Epson doesn't display this issue.

You are correct, Sprint only has 1 CEO and Jerry is not it, Dan Hesse is. You don't need to be an ass about it though, simply giving the individual the correct information is enough.
I just plugged my Focus to my laptop and after a while when I was going to make a call I noticed it was dead. Tried pulling the battery out and then putting it back on and nothing, what happens is that it vibrates more than the usual when I try to turn the phone on, but it is still dead.
Then I took the battery out again, then put it back on, tried the 3 button hard reset and the screen showed a lot of blue lines in the center of the screen and you can see the SAMSUNG logo but not so clearly.
While I was trying everything to solve the issue, I noticed a strange smell coming from the battery and the pins where the charge goes through the phone. But just the smell, no liquid or something similar.
I am in Costa Rica, so I can't take it to an ATT store. Any suggestions? Someone with a similar problem?
I am one of the few other blessed individuals to have my Focus go haywire and stop working. Only difference is mine would do random hard resets, and then eventually it stopped loading into the phone and stuck on the Samsung logo with crazy vibrations going on. I just sent my phone to the Samsung repair center last week.
At this point, you may want to just call up Samsung directly and talk to them about it. More than likely it will be covered under the manufacturers warranty.
1-800-SAMSUNG (726-7864)
Since you’re in Costa Rica I’m not sure how they would handle it, so I can’t help you there.
Thanks for the info. Yes my Focus was working great, I bought it like 6 months ago and not a single issue until yesterday.
I am not sure if I am covered by any warranty, because I bought it through eBay, so I think not even Samsung directly is covering me...
Well thanks for the help!

I actually traded my Samsung Captivate with someone for their Focus on Craigslist. I just sent in my Focus last week to the repair center, and apparently it's already ready, and most importantly covered. I think the end of August marks the one year mark of the Manufacturer’s warranty just an FYI.
Just like jaraya13 said below... do not mention Ebay. Just say you received the phone as a gift. I told them my family member could not find the receipt since they purchased the phone 8 months ago
