Rooting a mdm firmware is nothing new. Use the search function or go to the development section to use either a pre rooted stock rom or chainfires root method.

Galaxy i9500 Custom Recovery Error (Help Asap)

Hi.
When i got my i9500 i tried rooting it with a guide i found. It didn't work and i ended up flashing the phone with a stock rom, and re rooting with an updated and working guide.
Rom manager says i have two custom recoveries installed but when i try to boot into a custom recovery (CWM) it will not boot, instead it is booting straight to stock recovery. I think they may not have been removed when i flashed the stock rom.
Could someone please help by giving me instructions on how to get it working again.
Thanks for you help

Just Switch off your phone & Then press Power On+Volume up+menu button. You will go to recovery.
In the post i said that it will not boot into any of the custom recoverys that i have. Is there a way to remove them?

Root without custom padlock

Hey guys. I know 3 different methods of rooting i9505(motochoper, cf auto root and pre-rooted roms). But apparently all of them makes your phone turns to a custom status and showing a custom padlock on boot. Does anyone knows a root method that keeps the phone official? Cause I remember that on my old galaxy s2, I rooted my phone using a very simple method, flashing a temporary cwm from external SD card and flashing a busy box that gived me root. Anyone knows if is it possible on s4? Thanks guys

Hi,
Using these Pre-rooted ROMS , it keeps the phone "Official" as long as you do not install anything custom.

Thanks a lot. Do you know if using those pre rooted roms OTA updates still works? And if it is, update will unroot the device? Again, thank you so much

Hi,
Yes, you can still get OTA.
But I am not sure why you would do that when the [OP] will keep the ROMS up-to-date anyway.
And yes , you would lose root if you updated.

xxudmh8 is using a new locked bootloader for KNOX implementation. Have you use the latest CF-autoroot by Chainfire?
If the SuperSU version is not v1.60 or higher then you may need to reroot your phone using the latest CF autoroot:
http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip
Latest version of SuperSU is v1.65, probably you can try to update from Google Play or download the flashable zip file from:
http://download.chainfire.eu/351/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip
If I download and reflash xxudmh8 via odin from sammobile will it remove my root?

You may reflash XXUDMH8 via odin, after that root will be removed. You can root again using latest CF-Autoroot.
Do full factory reset before and after flashing to avoid unexpected problem.
If I root can I then go back to previous firmware or does the new one stop you from doing this??

I'm just going to reply to tell you to stop bumping your thread after such miserable amounts of time. I hope you got excited that there was a reply, and I also hope that you were bitterly disappointed. This isn't a 'fix ma problem' board, and the least you can do is wait it out for a reply. :banghead:

I recommend you better TWRP or Philz Recovery. Flashing custom recoveries don't wipe your device :highfive:
No. Flashing recoveries will not wipe your device., but it will trip knox to 0x1. This will void your warranty.
I also recommend TWRP. I couldn't flash CWM recovery. I did, but it just booted into the stock recovery instead of CWM. So I flashed TWRP.
Now that i rooted my phone, sometimes after im dome using it, when i hit the power button to off the sceeen, the phone randomly reboots. It Just straight away goes to the samsung spinning logo and then goes to the homescreen. But during the reboot it doesnt play the song and it doesnt go to the screen that says samsung galaxy s4 gt i9505. It's like its a quick reboot idk. This has happened three times now. Is there a way to fix this?

Flash the latest firmware for your device for solve your problems.
Where do i get the latest firmware from? And i dont know which is the latest one. Also will this remove root?

And has flashing the latest firmware removed this problem for other people?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
Is this happening because of something called knox? Also can you explain what will happen after i flash the latest firmware? Will i lose root?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
Amazing!
Hi, I have the same problem.
I do a wipe reset and a root: root is not working.
I removing root and make some root tentatives:
In Windows (Odin): not working
In Linux (motoshopper): not working
I have the XXUGNG8 and I don't understand why since this update, I can't root again!
Do you have an idea please?
If your talking about the random reboots, it happened to me because i let supersu app disable knox. After that the random reboots started. I fixed that by unfreezing the apps through titanium backup. For me 2 apps called knox notification manager and migration agent were frozen so i unfroze them through titanium backup. Then the random reboots stopped

After that you have to remove all the knox files in your phone. Check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514703
However, DO NOT delete a file called libknox_encryption.so otherwise your phone will not boot up.
