Hi guys,
Sorry for the incoming wall of text but this issue im having is massive and after doing a buttload of research im still no closer to anything.
I have the international Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). So everything started when my phone was running CM 10.2 then i did an OTA update to I believe it was 10.3. My phone would boot and the OS would start but I kept getting an error message saying some android system program wasnt working and basically made it unusable. So i decided to go back to CM10.2. After much trouble, I finally managed to get back to CM10.2 but I decided i was sick and tired with CM and wanted to go back to Samsung Stock firmware. This is where all the trouble began and its been a nightmare so far. I had TWRP 2.6.0.0 flashed too. I downloaded the TGY-I9505ZHUEMK2-20131122112513.zip file from samsung-updates and moved it onto my phone and wanted to install the .zip from TWRP. I kept getting an error message so I installed it through ODIN instead. Ok, so it worked from there and all was fine and dandy until I couldnt get the wifi to turn on, as in, it wouldnt even toggle on not that it wasnt connecting but that it physically wouldnt turn on. I figured I should do an OTA update incase it was a software problem. Alas, I got the error message saying that I cant because my phone was modified. Once again, I reinstalled the firmware through ODIN 1.85 and this time I didnt root it but i still got the same error message. I then used Triangle Away to try to reset the flash counter incase that would help. No matter how many times i did, the counter would always stay at 7. So after hours of research I stumbled upon an article about the infamous KNOX flag implemented in 4.3 and decided to see if I had triggered it. So I checked under download mode but I couldnt see anything relating to it but I did see 0x30. I forget what it was for. In the end I found this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444671 ) and downloaded the PIT file and the pre rooted firmware linked in that thread and installed them and all went smoothly. The WiFi still wont turn on but triangle away was able to reset the flash counter to 0 this time. Now when I attempt to turn on the WiFi i get a notification saying 'The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped loading. To protect your device, it is recommended you reboot'. I tried rebooting but that didnt help. I tried removing the battery and putting it back but that didnt work either. I tried holding down on the notification and clearing cache and then closing the app but that didnt help. The application in question is called : SEandroid (version 1.0). When I scroll to the bottom of the permissions list I did see something interesting that could have something to do with this. One of the permissions was labeled Qualcomm WiFi p2p.

Please guys, any help would be appreciated. I'm about to throw this dang phone into the ninth circle of hell.
EDIT:
Wwll guys, Im feeling like a special ed guy now. I found out about the WIFI fix and after flashing that with ODIN, it worked all dandy now. My second question would be, if I were to put TWRP back on, would that screw with anyhting?

Hello,
Can't update to 4.3, I get new FW notificaiton, it downloads, starts installation at quits at about 25% by rebooting itself and showing a message that I either need to update via Kies or get it to the service center. Any ideas what may be causing this?
I've got 4.2.2 rooted stock with triangle away, got another exactly the same phone and everything went really smoothly w/o any issues.
The worst of all that update is roughly 700 mb big and I have to redownload it again every time it fails.

happened to me also when upgrading to 4.3 on rooted stock w/ triangle away...
you have to unroot by reflashing a stock firmware in your region via odin...
Maybe I'd get a new OTA as tar file and flash it on top of current one w/o downgrading to stock?
Galaxy S4 - i337m - Android 4.3
Okay, so here's my problem.
Today in the morning after I woke up, I checked my phone and it said it had downloaded a software update. It was just a complimentary update for 4.3, it said bug fixing, etc. in details. I clicked accept and the installation started.
After this, all crap started to happen.
The Wi-Fi NEVER worked again, everytime I clicked the Wi-Fi widget in the notification bar, it turned green and immediately switched back to gray. It also didn't work when trying to turn Wi-FI on from the settings menu.
I tried everything, the battery pulling, the thing of disabling the Wi-Fi energy save, and nothing worked. It all pointed to a factory reset.
So I did all my backups (My S4 was rooted), and finally made the factory reset.
After this finished, I did all the starting configuration of the S4 (like when it was brand-new). Then, I tried to turn on Wi-Fi.
Surprise, surprise. DIDN'T WORK.
I'm so desperate right now, I don't know what to do.
I'm currently downloading 4.4.2 to flash it via Odin, and see if this works.
Any help, please?
Flashing the 4.4.2 ROM you're downloading now should definitely fix the problem. I know that in some instances, us I9505 owners have to flash a stock ROM twice through Odin before the modem will function. It sounds like your software update broke the modem in this fashion, which is why the ROM install you're planning should fix it. Be aware however that installing KitKat will give you Knox if you don't already have it.

Fine. Right at this moment I'm installing 4.4.2
Hope this works.
I'll tell you what happens.
I rooted to 4.4.2 and it went fine- then I realized I had lost wi-fi.
I have tried to restore and tried using odin and zip files to install a stock rom after I found a similar problem with link on
Sprint forums saying it will fix the ""button won't stay on" but the fix only works if the device is in stock rom.
answer on Sprint forum says baseband version was mk2 needs to be nae.
Return the phone to stock, run the fix for the wi-fi and then re-root.
I have downloaded and ran several roms that say they are stock- I've factory reset, cleared cache, no matter what I do,
I end up with a rooted device in 4.4.2 and no wi-fi. If I could just get the wi-fi back I would take it at this point
This was just a little quick upgrade that turned bad and long
The Sprint forum had a link to get it to nae, but wont work if rooted., so need to put the phone back to stock- run the patch and then can upgrade to kit kat again
TLDR: I cannot get my Sprint s4 back to any version that isn't rooted. I have tried several (lots) of roms that say" stock-unrooted" rom,
Never goes back to stock- stays rooted without wifi-
Ran a rom VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_SPR but when I install I get msge "ifooter is wring signature invalid" - and it fails.
reformatted the sd card, tried different roms and get some message and it stays rooted and no wifi.
TLDR: need to get stock rom so I can get back wi-fi and then root the whole thing. as 4.4.2 Or 4 , if it exists)
Any options and any ideas as to where or what to do?
EDIT: for clarity cause I am not making much sense at this point
Thanks
Heh... a TL;DR for a TL;DR... the internet is becoming one crazy place.

Maybe a dumb question, but why not just unroot first, then?
Hello, my SM-G935A is rooted, and I have 2 issues with it. Firstly, I'm unable to receive texts or phone calls (I can send them), and I've tried a factory reset and I even got a new SIM, but nothing worked. I think if I flash stock firmware, it might fix the issue. Second problem, when I go into download mode and select my AP in Odin and press start, my phone gets an error and Odin freezes at Initialization.
Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer to fix the texting issue, as I don't want to return the phone to ATT. In either case, the Odin issue needs to be fixed
I'm having a similar issue. This afternoon, 2 apps threw errors and closed. I rebooted, which apparently was the wrong thing to do. The reboot stalled on the AT&T logo and stayed that way for 5 min - the unit became very hot & the power button did not respond, even while holding it down. I got into recovery, cleared the cache and factory reset, then rebooted. The unit came back up and started reinstalling everything. I took it back down into the download status and attempted to reload 935x via Odin, only to stall at "initialzation" [sic] as you did. I got out of that after waiting for some sort of response. SuperSU was still in my apps as was Root Checker. Root Checker indicates the system is rooted. SuperSU indicates it needs the binary updated. BusyBox and TiBu indicate they cannot find root. I deleted all the root apps and tried reinstalling root via adb which completed successfully, but the same outcome with all the root apps. So I'm not sure if I'm still really rooted as Root Checker claims, or not.
EDIT: I just saw that I have 2 "Knox Settings" apps. Clicking on either returns, "Unfortunately, Container Agent2 has stopped."
use the odin from the stock firmware thread to flash it again. if it fails you can flash the u firmware and then the stock again. then you have to use a different odin if you want to flash the root api file the one you flash the firmware with wont work. also there is help in one of the threads about fixing the volte problem so you dont have to turn it off to get calls. i didnt have to do it as using the odin i mentioned fixed it for me when i came from the u firmware.

I was having the exact same problem you had with Odin. It seemed I was able to flash stock firmware using this version of Odin: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2t2sjqxtogbkafk/odin_3.12.3.rar

did you have any problems with the u version of the s7 edge firmware, like the fingerprint scanner not responding? i am on that version and cant get any odin version or any version of s7 edge g935a firmware to flash, tried unrooting and was forced to use the U version of the s7 edge firmware, everything works except the fingerprint scanner, cant get back to full stock firmware, need help!
im having the exact same problem, when i put my phone into download mode and flash the stock at&t firmware, Odin get stuck in "initialization" and my phone screen displays and error message.
Same stuff was happening to me, I went back to stock and took the update. When your phone stops working as an actual phone, it's time to roll it back.
I played with it for a week and my phone was so freaking hot (with hot weather) equals a wait and see if this gets more stable in the near future. I did use the Odin 3.12.3 mentioned by King James III. Honestly, I did so many things to get it back to stock I forget what actually worked (it was the wee hours of the morning and I was spent). Don't give up guys, it will and can work.
edit: It may be as simple as not right clicking Odin and running it as Administrator.

I used Odin_v3.12.3_Patched_SHA256 to flash the 935U Firmware then used Odin3_v3.11.2 to flash the June Firmware release.
