There are apps (DLNA, UPnP) for streaming tracks that are on my phone or tracks from my NAS, but I can't find one that will stream whatever I'm already playing on the phone. For example, if I play Pandora or Spotify on the phone, is there an app or method for sending that over the network to a renderer?
Thanks!
Do you just want to stream music. Or do you want video as well. All share cast does a good job for video for me. I use a blue tooth hub for music

Just music.
I'm guessing a bluetooth hub would be a receiver I plug into my stereo system, or at least that would be an idea that could work.
Thanks!

Thanks again for the pointer. I started researching bluetooth hubs and found out that there is a BT receiver made specifically for my streamer/DAC, a Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 - here. Great solution!
Not the cheapest option, but piece of mind for compatibility with my unit and, if it does make a difference, likely better sound quality.
Cheers!

Perhaps i have missed something in the reading but when i try to send sound to my bluetooth while using music player or watching a movie, the phone searches for a BT device but never finds one. I do have one paired and it functions fine for calls cept i cant voice dial with it which i also find odd. Any suggestions?

what blue tooth are you using? it needs to have A2DP to stream music or listen to movies or do voice over bluetooth etc.
I use the Motorolla H-17 txt for this feature

I agree with the previous poster sounds like the issue is more with the device you are pairing to. I have no problems sending music or movie audio to the receiver in my car.
Thank you both

Hey all. I have a fully unlocked focus on stock mango rom. I don't know how long ago exactly but my phone won't play any streaming audio from apps or audio websites using html5. I do get audio when watching vimeo or YouTube videos.
Any thoughts? Anything is appreciated!
Thanks,
Malcolm
Bump! Any help would be great... not sure why the phone will get data but won't stream music!
Which apps? Pandora apps were broken when they updated their api. I have never had luck streaming via browser, the volume was really low.

I recently purshased the N7 ASUS dock, and I have it set up connecting to some speakers in my lounge. My question is: can I connect to my N7 through bluetooth and stream music through it to the speakers? I have friends over frequently, and I'd like for them to be able to play music if they would like. I know I could buy a bluetooth receiver, but it seems like this is something that could be accomplished.
Perhaps you should try it right now and see. But I doubt it'll work.

What would you be streaming from? Using something like bubble upnp you can stream music, movies, photos from one device to another. Don't even need Bluetooth. Just need both devices on the same network

I was hoping to use it as an A2DP pass through from my phone or my friends' phones. All the research I have done shows its possible, just incredibly difficult.
The scenario:
I am streaming music to my bluetooth enabled stereo and I want to check out a video on YouTube or play a game at the same time.
What happens is that music stops playing and the sound goes out to the bluetooth.
What I want is to be able to stream music to bluetooth in the background, while the sound from youtube or games/ notifications goes to the phone speaker.
Is there a way to choose what sound goes where?
I know this is possible in windows, but surly this powerful device must be able to do the same?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Try Power Amp, I saw it has a media routing option!

That's what I am using for music, and I want music to go through the bluetooth, so that part is all good.
But I want everything else to go through the phone speaker, and still let the music continue to play through bluetooth.

That is definitely "by design" in all Samsung phones (so as to not miss notifications). In my previous phone - i9300 - the fix was to use a custom kernel with that option.
I posted this same question in the main thread, but I didn't get much of a response for it, and the ones that responded didn't have the same issue I was having. When I have my phone connected via bluetooth to my truck, I can make/receive calls, play the music on my phone using the Play Music application, but when I try to play a YouTube video or something from Hulu, I have absolutely no audio output. They work fine through the actual phone speaker, but when connected to bluetooth, I get nothing. I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. Has anyone else had bluetooth issues similar to this? I have completely reverted back to 4.3 with Odin, then did the whole update process back to 4.4.2 deodex, but I still have this same issue. Please help!
Can you play vids from any app and get audio?
It sounds like you may not. Like it's restricted and will only send over audio from system and music apps. Kinda like in-dash dvd player/stereos have a sensor and will only show video when the car is in "park".

No. The only luck I've had, is audio from calls and music that's on my phone. Hulu and YouTube worked before on 4.3, but won't on 4.4.2. I've deleted all of the devices that are paired to my truck, and have repaired my phone so that it is the only one. Still no luck.
