I posted this same question in the main thread, but I didn't get much of a response for it, and the ones that responded didn't have the same issue I was having. When I have my phone connected via bluetooth to my truck, I can make/receive calls, play the music on my phone using the Play Music application, but when I try to play a YouTube video or something from Hulu, I have absolutely no audio output. They work fine through the actual phone speaker, but when connected to bluetooth, I get nothing. I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. Has anyone else had bluetooth issues similar to this? I have completely reverted back to 4.3 with Odin, then did the whole update process back to 4.4.2 deodex, but I still have this same issue. Please help!
Can you play vids from any app and get audio?
It sounds like you may not. Like it's restricted and will only send over audio from system and music apps. Kinda like in-dash dvd player/stereos have a sensor and will only show video when the car is in "park".

No. The only luck I've had, is audio from calls and music that's on my phone. Hulu and YouTube worked before on 4.3, but won't on 4.4.2. I've deleted all of the devices that are paired to my truck, and have repaired my phone so that it is the only one. Still no luck.

Has anybody used the Galaxy S4 to stream audio over Bluetooth from various apps to recent Toyota non-GPS head units?
Currently I have a Droid DNA, and it will not stream audio from apps like Audible, Dog Catcher, Netflix, Dish Anywhere, or even Play Music. I have a 2012 4Runner without the GPS head unit, and it seems to be the case with most recent non-GPS Toyotas. Phone calls work fine. This has become a bit of a deal-breaker for me, but I don't want to make the jump if I'm going to run into the same issue.
Any experience or testing will be much appreciated.
I have a 2012 camry and corolla with no issues at all using play music and pandora. Camry has touch screen no nav...corolla is a garbage unit.

No problem here on my Camry 2012 non GPS unit. I've noticed that with the new update to google music, some songs are annoyingly choppy. I've re-installed the app and it still sounds the same. I'm going to try to set a new connection, I hope I don't have a faulty phone.
As for your problem go to Settings>Bluetooth>Click on the Gear Icon on the paired Bluetooth Radio>Make sure that Call Audio and Media Audio is both checked.
I have the same issues with my Toyota Tacoma 2013, tomorrow I will go with my dealer to figure out if need some firmware update.
In my case the phone pairing and works only for the call not bluetooth audio streaming, the unit try connect but the audioplayer disconnects right away.
I installed one app SoundAbout to set up the bluetooth behavior but not works still.
Let me know if you found something, also this forum has the same issue thread

Hey folks
I found nothing with Google so I'm gonna ask here.
Maybe anybody has the same issue.
I can't stream any music with my nexus to my Bluetooth audio system of my seat Ibiza.
Phone calls work and everything else, only audio streaming isn't possible. It should work though, the Bluetooth audio system is capable of that as well as the nexus 4 of course.
Thanks
Edit: thread can be closed. Found another thread with the same topic. Seems I'm not the only one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029210

Check first with any other device that your stereo indeed support audio streaming. I have FlyAudio and it reports as support A2DP but it is not. So when you pairing with it, Audio option is exist but will not work.
I have a toyota Camry 2011 which has a bluetooth system. No entue, just bluetooth. When I connect to it with both call and media audio enabled. DIsplay says streaming audio and immediately starts playing Lg Music app. Now if I switch to spotify or pandora, my car immediately pauses the music and then won't let me play spottify or pandora audio. I need help. I love this phone but I can't seem to get this work. I love streaming music.
Its almost as if Toyota keeps trying to connect to Lg Music app despite stitching to pandora. This used to work when I had and SG3. In that I could switch to pandora and no problems. I think the problem is that as soon as bluetooth connects LG Music app starts playing but I don't want it to.
If you're rooted, you can always freeze that app. I wouldn't delete it in case it's tied to something else. You could also try deleting all of the songs that are in LG music.

I second [email protected] Can you disable lg music in apps? If not, root and freeze it.

I don't want to get off topic, but you're right. This is the real problem. You can see it whenever engineers with "just show up" degrees are tasked with anything. The idea is a result of just getting something to work in order to pass a QA check. QA will typically have a couple of scenarios to run through and if the code makes it through the scenario, it's considered gold. No effort is extended to actually understand the context of the code being written, or the spec being written to.
If everything was written per the specification, there would be no interop problems... But writing a complete implementation might cost a bit more, so eff it.
I actually have a similar problem with my new LG G2 and 2010 Camry.
I can pair it as a phone device, but not properly as an BT audio device. It pairs as a phone and makes calls just fine, but as soon as I try to set it up as an audio player, the phone all of a sudden can't find the car's bluetooth. BUT it will still play audio through the car stereo with apps like Pandora, however, I have zero control capabilities from the car and it playback will stay connected. Stereo just says "No devices found".
I also came from a S3 and it worked fine as a phone and audio player with this car. Seems like the new phone doesn't mesh well with the stereo?
The audio quality of the G2 over a2dp is horrible just like the two phones by LG before it, not sure what the deal is
OP have you found a fix for this? Just disabling the stock Music Player?
Is any news or solutions?
The A2DP audio is great. Enable Apt-X? There is a prop trigger. This phone IS Apt-X capable, confirmed through logcat. Research before you down a product. Different paired products will always behave differently.
I have the same problem in my 2012 FJ Cruiser except Poweramp automatically starts even though the BT settings are set not to. Anything else pauses after 2 seconds.

True, but "there is an app for that".
Modified Spotify client with included TrackID fix. I use it in my VW Golf with my LG G2.
Use the latest version in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44108915#post44108915
I still couldn't find any solutions until now. Could you?
ask your audio manufacturer to update software, unless its old bluetooth and thus not feature supporting.

LG G2, stock 4.2.2 and Toyota Avensis 2011 -
Google Music - ok + track info;
LG stock player - ok + track info;
Rdio - ok - no track info;
Spotify - no sound, no track info (steer buttons ok - play, pause).
The scenario:
I am streaming music to my bluetooth enabled stereo and I want to check out a video on YouTube or play a game at the same time.
What happens is that music stops playing and the sound goes out to the bluetooth.
What I want is to be able to stream music to bluetooth in the background, while the sound from youtube or games/ notifications goes to the phone speaker.
Is there a way to choose what sound goes where?
I know this is possible in windows, but surly this powerful device must be able to do the same?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That's what I am using for music, and I want music to go through the bluetooth, so that part is all good.
But I want everything else to go through the phone speaker, and still let the music continue to play through bluetooth.

That is definitely "by design" in all Samsung phones (so as to not miss notifications). In my previous phone - i9300 - the fix was to use a custom kernel with that option.
I've read multiple issues with Bluetooth and cars, but I haven't seen anything around the Amazon Music app.
When I use the Amazon Music app, the display in my car shows the Google music song on deck.
Also, controls via my android wear watch show the song in Amazon Music. However if I press to play or pause it activates the Google music song on deck.
I assume this is an Amazon Music app issue, but it worked fine on my old android 6 device.

Oddly enough I have the same problems (and have since my nexus 6). The problem comes when I switch apps - amazon music, Pandora, GMMP (my mp3 player).
Im not sure if it's the way Android sends meta-data or the head unit in your car. Ha e you tried to force close the app and reload it to see if it will resend the data?
Tbh I've got myriad problems with Bluetooth atm. From dropping the connection at random to playing audio from the phone when Bluetooth is connect and media is selected under the settings. I end up having to reboot to just get the Bluetooth connection to work. Rumor has it 7.1.1 is on the way. I hope Google is addressing the reported Bluetooth issues.

I tried it in my other car, and it seems to work correctly (2013 vw working).
There must be some BT issues with compatibility.
