Hey all. I have a fully unlocked focus on stock mango rom. I don't know how long ago exactly but my phone won't play any streaming audio from apps or audio websites using html5. I do get audio when watching vimeo or YouTube videos.
Any thoughts? Anything is appreciated!
Thanks,
Malcolm
Bump! Any help would be great... not sure why the phone will get data but won't stream music!
Which apps? Pandora apps were broken when they updated their api. I have never had luck streaming via browser, the volume was really low.

Has anyone come up with any alternative to the bluetooth stack that is on the Epic? It is the worst bluetooth experience I've had with any phone I've ever owned all the way back to the Kyocera 7135.
What issues are you having? I use bt heavily and haven't had any problems.
Yeah the stack is really limited. Plus evert 10-15 seconds, music, video, or phone calls click and skip over audio. Expecially when using 720p video over bluetooth. Plus I want wiimote access.
But this thread may be moved to general. Just a warning

720p video over bt 2.1?
not video...audio from video. i know there was some problems with audio when using the allshare app to stream 720p video, but whenever im watching a video, expecially video that is in 720p, streaming the audio through bluetooth has a bunch of skips and holes in audio every 10-15 seconds.
I guess it's not an issue with the bt stack, but an issue with the combined processing power that is needed to perform all of those tasks at once. I stream a2dp to my car's headunit for hours without a single issue.
I'm also having issues with bluetooth on the Epic, created a thread in the general forum about it. The issue I'm having is a deal breaker for me. I do not experience the issue on an EVO so I may be taking the Epic back for the EVO. I keep getting told to wait for Froyo, Samsung supposedly will be using the android stack instead of their own.
There seems to be no way to listen to music or the soundtrack of a video via Bluetooth a2dp ...
Tried with both the music player and vplayer but each time the sound only comes from the phone speaker and not the Bluetooth device.
Anyone managed this?
It works with the stock rom but I haven't seen any custom roms with it fully operational for media, just for calls.

Thanks, it seems there are a couple of widgets in the market that add the functionality. At least it's not a hardware limitation.
What apps are those? I want to try them please.

I have no problem with the stock ROM but i do use this...
A2DP Volume, you can get it on the market, it's Free.
The one I tried was called bluetooth audio widget, free trial. Will try a2dp volume though as the one I tried seemed to interfere with dsp manager so I installed.
Just tried a2dp volume and it doesn't work for me. That's with leedroid v1.2. Maybe this only works on stock?
Got a2dp volume to work. Seems to do the job well for audio only but has anyone tried watching a video using Bluetooth a2dp for sound? Everything is completely out of sync. I don't there is anyway round this but thought I'd put it out there?
Same with stock player and vplayer.
Just tried Bluetooth audio widget again from the market and this keeps the audio in sync nicely, the only problem being that the quality is pathetic.
Anyone know of a better alternative that keeps audio and video sync?
I use headphones or a Sound-freq speaker when watching movies and videos. When using BS player the video and sound do not sync up.If using the gallery player everything syncs up well on both headphones and speakers..Is there a way to sync up the bs player as well?It handles more formats and I like the extra volume and brightness controls on it. thanks

i don't know what BS player is, but this is a common issues across multiple applications. it has to do with BT hardware, the application, BT priority and sound quality.
I have watched several streaming video types using my Potato Tunelink BT adapter. Netflix is by far the worst offender. Off by an entire half-second. Hulu streams great, YouTube has a slight delay. Crackle is about a split off.
If you want quality audio, use the audio port.
BTW, this is true of ANY device. My DROID3/4 both exhibited the same qualities. I thought it was a limitation of the phone. Faster devices do decrease latency, but if the latency exists, it's built into the application.
Maybe I could have been more clear on what I was asking. sorry
I know the problem is there but the BSplayer can be adjusted for audio offset to compensate for the lag.I just can't seem to find out how to do so.The gallery player seems to do it automatically because it always works whether playing files on the device or streaming from my computer or elsewhere. I would like someone to tell me how to adjust this in the BSplayer app. thanks

There are apps (DLNA, UPnP) for streaming tracks that are on my phone or tracks from my NAS, but I can't find one that will stream whatever I'm already playing on the phone. For example, if I play Pandora or Spotify on the phone, is there an app or method for sending that over the network to a renderer?
Thanks!
Do you just want to stream music. Or do you want video as well. All share cast does a good job for video for me. I use a blue tooth hub for music

Just music.
I'm guessing a bluetooth hub would be a receiver I plug into my stereo system, or at least that would be an idea that could work.
Thanks!

Thanks again for the pointer. I started researching bluetooth hubs and found out that there is a BT receiver made specifically for my streamer/DAC, a Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 - here. Great solution!
Not the cheapest option, but piece of mind for compatibility with my unit and, if it does make a difference, likely better sound quality.
Cheers!
I posted this same question in the main thread, but I didn't get much of a response for it, and the ones that responded didn't have the same issue I was having. When I have my phone connected via bluetooth to my truck, I can make/receive calls, play the music on my phone using the Play Music application, but when I try to play a YouTube video or something from Hulu, I have absolutely no audio output. They work fine through the actual phone speaker, but when connected to bluetooth, I get nothing. I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. Has anyone else had bluetooth issues similar to this? I have completely reverted back to 4.3 with Odin, then did the whole update process back to 4.4.2 deodex, but I still have this same issue. Please help!
Can you play vids from any app and get audio?
It sounds like you may not. Like it's restricted and will only send over audio from system and music apps. Kinda like in-dash dvd player/stereos have a sensor and will only show video when the car is in "park".

No. The only luck I've had, is audio from calls and music that's on my phone. Hulu and YouTube worked before on 4.3, but won't on 4.4.2. I've deleted all of the devices that are paired to my truck, and have repaired my phone so that it is the only one. Still no luck.
