merruk kernel CWM partitioning - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

ok im here again. im totally confused on what to to do here.i successfully installed merruk 2.5 deluxe in jBv3 3.5 . on my past kernels without a permanent CWM , i already did partitioning an sd card. but now, i cant. u see i used skin-1980-GT-S5360+CMW in the past and i tried using this in merruk. but it will replace the stock CWM and i dont know if its good or bad but i aborted it by restarting it. please tell me what to do.. do i have to use only skin.zip or is there a skin.zip for permanent CWM like in merruk ? :fingers-crossed:

according to me it will not replace stock recovery until u choose the option of applu update.zip which is found in temp cwm

Thanks for that sir but can u explain to me how to use the ext4 ? what it does and how it work? all i know is ext3 for partitioning. i just want to increase my internal memory its been days now since im trying to partition my card in this awsome kernel.

The main benefits that ext 4 has over
ext3 are :
* faster timestamping
* faster file system checking
* journaling checksums
* extents (basically automatic space
allocation to avoid fragmentation)
using ext4is same as ext3 in cwm select ext4 and select ext 4 in app 2sd

[QNS] How to REPLACE a kernel ???

If i m using CWM to install a rom
Hi,
The way I did it was: download the ROM and kernel zips:>Then put them both on the sd card root :>go into cwm:>ad recovery:>wipe data ,dalvik and partitions:>install ROM:>install kernel:> reboot.
You should bear in mind that not all kernels will work with all ROMS.
My sig shows what worked for me
thx was trying Ultimate Droid rom but the default dont support ext4..
Your Ultimate Droid [op] shows 3 kernels which have been tested.
Why don't you try one using method I suggested
never
I tried to do so many times and never got it right
agree here..
try all... none of them let me using ext4

This is also for ebotross. Are you both using the MAGLDR or the cLK version of the ROM? You have to use a kernel that is compatible with MAGLDR if you are using MAGLDR and a kernel that is compatible with cLK if you are using cLK. Cedesmith has a patch posted in the cLK thread to apply to a kernel to make it cLK compatible.
using MAGLDR

That is strange then the kernels posted in the thread for the Ultimate Droid should work as they should be for MAGLDR, unless the Rom chef posted those kernels for the cLK users. Have you posted in the thread about your issue?
posted.. no reply
i tried number of time..
i alway see i got 5mb even less under storage... that mean i not using ext4 as internal
u see... the rom requet to use CWM v1.3 150MB but i use 400M
if i got 1gb ext.. after install this rom i cannot be left only 2-5mb
When you first flashed the ROM where you coming from a different ROM? If so did you do a complete restore or a partial restore using advanced restore? If you used just the regular restore then you do not have Ultimate Droid but you have your old ROM as the System restores your ROM and the Boot restores your kernel. Not all kernels are compatible with all ROMs as the ROMs for the HD2 are all custom ROMs. Also in native Android devices kernels are pretty much device specific so you can not use a kernel from one device on another device without modifying it.

Damn I think I know what you did but I can not remember where I read it at. It was something about if you do something with a certain file or something you actually double it which would turn your 400M into 800M and that would leave you only 2mb. I will have to try to find it again.
i format every thing and start from 0
format sd card using SDFormatter V2.0
create ext3 or ext4... tried both
install rom...
i give up so i now reinstall to CWM v1.3 150M but i only have 200M???? but i tot if we use EXT3 or 4 we should had more than that????
Hi,
I think your 200M is internal memory which is found in
settings>sd & storage>internal phone storage.
The space you have on your SD card is different and probably much larger.
You say the ROM requested 150M ,you should follow this accurately.This will give you more internal memory.
The EXT partition is space on your SD card which will still be 1gb.
They are two different things.

can anybody help me?
thanks
nobody can help me?
you need to install a custom rom with app2sd (called also a2sd) enabled... go in the "Desire Android Development" section and try
Also helpful:
Link2SD app or Install Manager
Before changing rom for apps2sd
u have to partition the SD card

I suggest using 4EXT recovery to partition your SD card, it did it simple and easy. It's so nice a recovery i bought it, no regrets at all.
Then you'll have to install a rom with an app2sd script that will use the ext4 partition to extend your phone's memory

You can do it easily if you install a kernel with included CWM (Savies Kernel Rev 73)
You can find an option Format ext or sd-ext or 2nd partition there, it only works with CWM included kernels, sd-ext doesnt seem to mount with madteam/skin (the one thats flashable CWM)

You got CWM for that, if you are asking about creating, you dont need an inbuilt one, just flash cwm by madteam(or skin) via stock recovery, go to advanced-> partition sd card-> Give sizes -> Wait till its complete -> Partition done
For formatting ONLY sd-ext or for formatting sd-ext without losing sd card contents you need an inbuilt CWM..it can be done also with terminal emulator, but Im not sure about that..

[Q] Link2sd errors

Hi,
I am new to XDA and first time posting a question !!
My question is when i was trying to increase my phones internal memory via CWM and link2sd by following the instructions very carefully, I am getting an error which says "LINK2SD could not obtain root access" and some time it gets root access somehow it shows "mount script error" .
I want 512mb increased memory.
ALREADY TRIED:
1-Rebooting
2-Hot booting
3-Formatting SD card
4-using different CWM
5-Trying different EXT2,3,4 & Fat also
I am using Galaxy Y GT-s5360 with Nemesis One Phoenix ROM with Hells Fusion#50 kernel.

Believe me tried a million times....the problem is your ROM(which is by the banned in xda)
The ROM is 100% the problem
All other roms support link2sd :laugh:

is there any other way to increase my internal memory or can you suggest me any other ROM which is very similar to Nemesis one !!
Thanks
