Hello XDA,
Can anyone instruct me on how i would go about disable Apps2SD on my Cyanogen 2.7.1 Mytouch3g? Thanks.
By posting in the Q&A
But follow the guy below me's answer. Meant to put that to not seem like a butt, but forgot
If you don't have a partitioned sd card it will be disabled. Just have one partition (fat32) and viola, no apps2sd
perhaps a way to disable without having to re-partition an sdcard (currently using apps2sd) would be helpful?

exactly what i wanted to ask...
Any help with this?
You could try removing them all from the SD card and just install them using a batch file, any data that was created should still be on there as you just removed the .apk and they won't be modified. And to format the SD card, easiest way I know how is just flash AmonRa's recovery image and use the option in there, but before you do, take all the files off of your SD card.
Hi Guys,
I was using Cynagenmod. I wanted to try Openfire. So i partitioned my SD card to ext3.
But now i again want to go back to CM. So, What partition should i do so that App2SD will work...

You don't need to do anything for app2sd in CM because it is built in. but if you want app2ext flash darktremor patch.
i think darktermor is already present in Openfire.. so i just need to partition the SD to ext and install openfire???

You can easily change, modify partitions, using Ubuntu 10.1 Live:
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Make example a bootable USB stick, and you can do anything, with your partitions
My Wildfire with Cyangenmod works great...with Fat32 + Ext2 partitions
I made it with gParted
cheers
Thanks To ysgace and all dev.

So it's taken a lot of reading from a number of different places but I figured out how to modify the boot.img in the Odin CODE tarball in order to flash with an edited init.rc. I realize that with this power I could have simply built a2sd into the boot.img but one step at a time. So for now, if you want a2sd for Gingerbread (S5830XXKPE) then files and instructions can be downloaded using

Internal 189 MB (176 MB free)
SD Card 13.9 GB (10.4 GB Free)
SD card (a2sd) 1.91 GB (1.82 GB free)
my dalvik cache is on sd card so is settings displaying improper info or titanium backup please advice

so do you have a2sd by Darktremor?
Whenever i try to create an ext2 partition in my sdcard, it is not being mount and i get a warning saying that the card should be formatted. if i give yes, it gets formatted as one single partition of FAT32.. Please help
I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition in windows for partitioning
for partitioning use gparted
Before upgraded to gingerbread ROM, it was 2.2.1 where there is a app name "link2sd" free from market, which it mount ext2 partition of sdcard and move per apps apk file to sdcard, of ext2 partition, this is more flexible then Darktremor.
Where with Darktremor, the external sdcard will never able to hot remove from phone and plug it back. Which make external sdcard pointless. remove sdcard card will kill / reboot the phone, given without sdcard, phone can not start up. Also slow performance issues.
Where link2sd allow you select large apk only link to external sdcard, when unplug sdcard the phone still works without reboot / halt.

I found so many noobs here in ace forum and so little developers and I want to help you. I come from optimus one forum and i like to help.
You need a custom recovery to create an ext partition and to make darktremor a2sd to worked. Amonra or clockworkmod recovery is the best. Then create an ext partition whether ext2, 3 or 4 then flash dta2sd from the darktremor a2sd thread here in xda(search it). The latest ver is 2753 beta 04.
Remember, without ext partition the dta2sd will not worked.
To check if your a2sd is working, download terminal emulator, press su then enter then type a2sd check.
Or download titanium backup agd check if it says a2sd space=???
Or the best way to check is by a2sdgui app, it is a official app from the dta2sd itself. If it says apps are on sd, then your a2sd worked. And if you guys still reducing memory even after moving apps to sd via a2sd gui app, its time to put the dalvik cache to your sdcard.
Fuh, thats a lot of writing on my phone. I love to help because i will buy galaxy gio soon.
Or maybe you guys should take a look at optimus one forum and learn how to make a custom kernel and rom there. Theres a very good thread on guiding how to build a custom rom and kerne. Im pretty surprise so many noobs here. Like i said i really like to help to improve this community

Hi guys,
I've installed a CM7 ROM then installed S2E, then flashed an AOSP build to replace it. When I try to use S2E to move the apps back to NAND from sd-ext, it shows up in NAND in the first couple of boots, but later on goes back to sd-ext without S2E doing the job. I kinda figured that it's built into the ROM to move the apps to sd-ext.
What would be the safest way to move the apps from sd-ext back to /data/app, and then repartition my SD card into a single partition and use its whole storage capacity?
Thanks in advance!

try link2sd in the market,it's free, but once you've moved all u want to,boot into recovery and wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik, that MIGHT do the trick
one question, how do you want to partition your sd? i mean one fat or one ext partition? But seriously, one partition is a bad idea, i wouldnt recommend that.
@Ty5982, Thanks for the input! Will try that later.
@greg17477, I'm using Windows so I want to format it to a single Fat32 partition. What's your recommendation?
Partition ur sd card in recovery with 1gb and swap size 64mb,THEN,open link2sd and when u 1st open it,it checks your phone and sd card then prompts u were u want to send apps to,ext 2,3,4 or FAT 32,select FAT 32 as its what u want, then a error msg will appear, reboot, then open link2sd and now you've got your fat 32 lol

Won't that have moved his apps to a fat32 partition?
If I'm reading this correctly what the OP wants is to move his apps to NAND so he can format his sd card to its full capacity in FAT32, presumably so he can use it as a normal SD card (eg for a camera, moving files etc)
I personally use a very popular app called DarkTremors Apps2SD GUI, it comes preinstalled on a lot of custom ROMS. This app checks where your apps are when you launch it, and gives you the option to either move them to SD-EXT or back again. Launch APPS2SDGUI, let it check your system, then click 'Apps are on SD!' to move them back to NAND.
P.S. I don't think you can wipe the SD-EXT partition off the SD card using Windows' built-in formatter. There are lots of freeware apps that can and will do this though, google is your friend =]

well i would recommend tu have 2 partitions, ext and fat. Just to be safe or prapared in case your want to try a different rom. Nowadayes almost every rom uses ext partition. And you won't run out of space, if you install some more apps.

I see. Thanks! Currently I have a 512MB EXT partition on my SD card. I thought I'd be able to choose which apps to move there but it seems my ROM automatically symlinks the apps installed to the EXT partition.
So I decided I want to just install the apps to NAND since I don't really install a lot of apps and I'm using a TMOUS HD2, just for an extra boost in performance compared to when apps are installed to SD-EXT. Then I'll just selectively move apps to SD.

Hi, I hope you guys are still around, I´ve been looking for an answer and can´t find anything, heres the question I posted on another thread:
I´ve been having trouble with my phone freezing even after full wipes, so I´ve come to the conclusion my sdcard is corrupt.
So I want to go through the Gparted process to format and re-partition my sdcard.
Currently I have 16GB class 6, which has the recommended FAT32 and 1GB ext4.
Is it safe (or even possible) to format the sd card now. I tried with Gparted and only the FAT32 partition showed up???
The rom is runnymede aio which requires the ext4
Thanks

Hello guys,
I installed this particular rom on my HD2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224469
The installation completes succesfully but when I reboot it stucks on a black screen. Using MAGLDR and CWM, in the installation I chose NAND installation type. Is there maybe anything I do wrong?
Thx in advance

You should use DataOnExt. Create an ext partition on your sdcard and reinstall the ROM with the installation option "Nand with DataOnExt" chosen. And you should be good to go.

You can follow this great tutorial by mengfei up to the point where he says "Another method of creating an EXT4 partition". (don't forget to thank him)
Edit: Your memory failed you , it must be an ext2/3/4. (In addition to your original FAT32)

If I'm not mistaken it's almost exactly the same as in mengfei's guide. Just boot into AD Recovery from MAGLDR, select Advanced then partition SD card. Choose whatever size you like (if you're not sure then 1GB is always a good safe option) and usually you won't have need for a swap partition so select 0 here. This will delete all of the data on your SD card though so make sure to back anything important up first.

Yeah, the best way to do it is using an SD card reader but since you don't have that using USB mass storage or the option in cwm should be fine.

That process is likely to format your sdcard, so MAKE SURE you have backed up everything. That means you'll also have to recopy the .zip file of the ROM.
