You don't need to do anything for app2sd in CM because it is built in. but if you want app2ext flash darktremor patch.
i think darktermor is already present in Openfire.. so i just need to partition the SD to ext and install openfire???

You can easily change, modify partitions, using Ubuntu 10.1 Live:
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Make example a bootable USB stick, and you can do anything, with your partitions
My Wildfire with Cyangenmod works great...with Fat32 + Ext2 partitions
I made it with gParted
cheers

Have you partitioned your SD card correctly so that it works with a2sd?

I think so, I partitioned it Ext4. what else do I have to do?
Please list the exact partition config you have on your SD card. That way we'll hopefully be able to see the problem. Also please tell us which ROM you are using.

Sorry, you have an SD card with a single 745MB ext4 partition?
Can you post your exact SD card partition info - all partition sizes, file systems, and in what order they are partitioned.
Also, your ROM - have you asked this question in the relevant thread?

Sorry what I meant was my first partition was 6.69gb and Fat32, Then I partitioned 750mb off as Ext4.
Data first and then A2SD partition second is usually the right way around but I am not familiar with your ROM. For example, does it support EXT4?
Might be worthing popping over to the thread for your ROM in the Development forum and asking around there.

Yeah I did data first, and yeah it does support EXT4.
The rom doesnt actually have A2SD in it, but I put it in myself so its probably no use asking in the rom thread.
I've tried everything, I've partitioned it on linux, gparted, minitool partion on windows, Clockwork recovery, none work.
Thanks for your help anyway!
Can I enable it on X8 Non-Stock roms?
Just did...
I did this today. I mean, I had apps2SD, but today I partitioned my SD card, and when it rebooted, FroyoBread recognized the partition and created Dalvik2Sd to my Ext. FAT32 working just fine.
Now I have apps and apps data on SD.

It is usually already integrated (05mountsd and 10app2sd in /etc/init.d) but you need an ext partition on the sd card first.
Ok... Thanks for help! But what EXT partition i need? ext2, ext3, ext4?

you need to install a custom rom with app2sd (called also a2sd) enabled... go in the "Desire Android Development" section and try

I suggest using 4EXT recovery to partition your SD card, it did it simple and easy. It's so nice a recovery i bought it, no regrets at all.
Then you'll have to install a rom with an app2sd script that will use the ext4 partition to extend your phone's memory

Hi experts here,
Sorry to bother you but I could not find clear explications on how to do it right:
I have formatted my 16GB SD card to have 13GB Fat 32, 1,5 GB Ext2 and 0,5 GB linux swap.
Then I have copied the current AmeriCan Android to to the Fat32 partition and fired HaRet.
Android boots fine, but has got no SD card mounted and the menu to mout it is greyed out.
a) how to mount the Fat32 Partition of the SD card?
b) did Android install on the ext2 partition? If not, what is the procedure to get it there?
Thank you.

As far as I know, sd-build android's data/storage is in a file called data.img located on your sdcard. I am not sure if it's supposed to show that you actually have an sdcard.
a) I am not sure, so I can't say anything.
b) Find a rom you want (because you can't convert your current ROM to an ext one, you can make a backup though) from the nand section. If by (boot from ext) you mean NativeSD, you don't need MAGLDR/cLK. Just look for the "NativeSD for Windows Mobile Users" guide, and follow it. But if by that you mean (have your storage on the ext) then you must install cLK/MAGLDR, install a recovery, repartition your system accordingly and then flash the rom from the recovery install earlier.
If what I said made no sense to you or you think it's too complicated, use the search.

May I try to reformulate my questions?
- Can Nandroid mount (read-write) the SD FAT32 Partition which contains the filesystem image from which it has booted?
- If yes, how?
- If no, would nativeSD be the solution to share (read-write) the FAT 32 data between Android and WinMo?
Thank you for the advice.
Hi, I think we are in the same boat, I am running an SD version Android ICS from my SD card and it says that no SD card is mounted. I would like to know how I can transfer music and side load apps I already downloaded. It would be great help if someone could help

Finally, I found it out: My SD card was partitioned. I made an extra second EXT2 partition for Android, which was a bad idea.
It turns out that Android cannot recognize partitioned SD cards or they need a separate mounting procedure, don't know exactly...
Since I have deleted the extra partition Android can read/write on the full SD card...
