[Q] can't reach Google through Now voice search - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been having this problem for the last week or so, just jow it's starting to really get on my nerves. Whenever I open up Google now and try to make a voice search either by saying Google or by taking the mic, I get this error message a few seconds later. I've tried it in 3 different wifi connections and it never works but when I try on my 3g data connection it works perfectly. I've cleared the data from Google play services once and I have no idea what the problem could be anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

bump help please

Had the same problem in Google translate, updating the app seemed to fix it. Don't know about the wifi/3g issue though!

Google IM Client

Hey guys. I've had my Aria since it launched and today was the first time I tried using the IM app that comes with the phone. I turned on my wifi and tried logging on. It gives me a message saying a network error has occurred. Then I switch over to 3G and I'm able to log on no problem. Anyone else encounter this problem?

I tried logging on to my old AIM account over WIFI and it kept saying that server error or something. Don't have data so can't test it. But it seems like it won't work over WiFI.
tested on two rooted Aria's and home wiFi, works fine
I also have the same problem...the messaging app does not work when on wifi and it works just fine on 3g.
--edit--
Although I should qualify this...I'm talking about the "IM" app, which is made by HTC. The Google Talk application works correctly for me.
This is correct, "IM" is mobile network only. Google talk should work on either.

Google services connectivity issues

I did a search and I haven't found any info online. Within the past month or so, I have been getting google services connectivity issues where the colors on the bars switch on and off from white to green (meaning there is internet connectivity but no connection to google services). I don't get this problem when I am connected directly to wifi.
This is annoying because if I sign on gchat/gmail, there is a delay until I receive the updated information.
I was hoping that 2.3.4 would resolve this issue, but it still remains.
There is a thread going on about this issue where other people have reported seeing this:
http://www.google.com/support/forum...ad?fid=7c7a962fd3ae87e20004a26b2f3f005b&hl=en
Has anyone on the forums experienced this issue? Are there problems with the google services currently? Thanks in advance.
this also happens the other way around. i'm not connected to a phone service, but can see a signal, and when wifi is active and connected, the green signal bars turn green, even though 'no service' is displayed in the notifications.
I've noticed the same thing. Its been happening for the last few weeks.

I have experienced problems with the Google location services on 3G. Since I have gotten the Nexus S and am on 3G my location is always "temporarily not available" - 2.3.3, 2.3.4, various versions of Maps - no fix. Tried clearing out the data and cache in Google services framework, Maps - no go - still same problem.
WiFi and GPS are fine. Tomorrow I will go to service center and see if it is some how related to the phone or the carrier network..
Gmail and Talk seem to work ok....
I have the same problem, connection to google is lost when the phone sleeps and sometimes randomly. I have looked everywhere but can't find any fix or official response. This started around April 14.
This issue is so frustrating, it carries over from rom to rom, my phone is basically useless now!
I had to switch to regular voicemail, cause Google voice is so delayed, gmail and google talk are basically useless too.

But this morning when I wake up, google now is not working. it says no connection but i can surf the net, download apps from the market and do everything.
So I master reset the the phone. then set up everything from the beginning, after all these hassles my google now was working. Now the next morning i wake up and its the same. No connection error on google now.
So can anyone tell me whats going on and how do I fix it.

I have pretty much the same problem!
I just realized mine isnt either. Stock Rom, Rooted, TWRP and just flashed franco M1 yesterday. Hmmmmm
Having this issue for months now. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Had gone through many forums and no solution yet. Counting days when I get back to England because I believe it has something to do with my ISP.

Just go to Settings-App search for "google search" and delete cache/data, you should be ready to go

[Q] Facebook Checkin Not Working?

Couldn't find any similar threads, but I've found a problem which seems to be unique to our phone. If I'm trying to add a new check in location in the Facebook app it doesn't work. It simply says that the search returned no results. Everyone else I know has the option to add a new location. Even my old phone was able to. I checked on my wife's galaxy and we are using the same version of the FB app. Can anyone confirm this on their Nexus? Any solutions? I've attached a screenshot so you know what I mean.
Try resetting the app from the settings menu... Clear the cache data and everything and make sure gps is on that's all i can think of right noe

I did a complete reinstall if the app. GPS shouldn't matter, its very weird.
Bump
Anyone at all can confirm this happens to them??
This does not happen to me at all. And just as a test I was able to search and add a new place. No issues. Maybe reinstall fb.

Thanks for checking. I reinstalled twice already. Are you able to tell me your location settings?
All my settings in Facebook are checked. 1 hour sync interval. Location enabled etc. Have you checked your location settings on android itself to make sure its on.

Yeah, everything is on. Very strange
OK, so here is something weird. I turned on WiFi and it works fine, but on T-Mobile H network it gives me the "no places found". Why would that be??
I never had that issue at all even on hspa aka T-Mobile network or WiFi. I just wonder if your an isolated problem. Or it won't work via mobile to add a new place.

What's weird is that it works on WiFi. Then when I turn off WiFi it still works. But if I restart my phone it won't work again until I connect to WiFi. Annoying!

Google apps can't connect over wifi

Hi all, I'm stuck with a problem with my S4 that's been plaguing me for a while but has got a lot worse since my upgrade to KitKat. Put simply I can't connect to Google services over wifi, whether that's GMail, Google Play, Google Music or any other service via a Google app. Other apps are fine and if I switch of wifi I can connect over 3G with no problems.
I'm stumped and (ironically) Google can't help me. Apart from using 3G any time I want to use a Google app on my phone, can anyone suggest either a solution or something that can help me work out what's going on?

Hy there
It's a server/internet setting. In my school I also can't connect to google services, that depends on the network. Maybe contact your administrator or look what could be the problem in your network
