You don't need to flash any kernel for Defy+. You flashed a BL5 kernel on BL7 Defy+.

Hello,
I have installed CM7 for Defy(not plus) in my cellphone perfectly.
So then, I found the CM7 Defy+ nightlys and I'm trying to install it. But when I install the ROM on it and reboot, it stays in the initial logo forever.
Could you help me?
Best regards.
please help
Try another rom, like MUIU or any other rom and see if the start loop is overcome.
Did you wipe the memory after?
If you want to instal defy+ nighties, you first have to flash the gingerbread kernel. (CM9kernel.zip)
So now flash the stock ROM and start again. You probably downgraded to instal three normal defy nightly do you have to flash a defy+ ROM with the same bl nr. After that root instal 2nt... and flash the defy+ nightly (and wipe). If you want to be able to switch, you will have to flash the downgrade sbf again and flash the CM9 kernel. Then you can switch with just flashing the kernel and ROM (sbf wipe)

Do cm7 nightly have these fixes? I'm running nightly now and camera seems ok, but I don't know yet about the battery.
hey guys i did this method for root the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956
i could install CM7.2 , white rabbit etc but i tried with cm9 and nothing!
when i reboot it enters on bootmode with 4 errors!
i flashed the cm9 kernel and everything and nothing
what happens?
thank you!
You shouldn't have flashed cm9 kernel as stock gb kernel would have worked just fine.
Go back to your stock ROM with stock kernel and then flash cm9 again without flashing any kernel.
This method worked on my defy+ without any issues.
ohhh okay thank you!
i cant downgrade to my stock rom ,
it can be this one?
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed.sbf
i have now with cm7.2 kernel 2.6.32.9 ge281b6e [email protected] #1

Any stock ROM having Android version 2.3.4 or above will do. But it should have stock GB kernel. In my case I was on 4.5.1-134_DFP-1321 (Asia Retail firmware android 2.3.6) and my kernel version is 2.6.32.9-gbdd614e [email protected]#1
Use 1321...don't flash kernel and install cm9...works fine on my Defy+

If its not working, use Epsy's build.

Hi guys!!
i have a doubt... i want to "clean" my defy+ so i decided to flash a stock sbf, format sd, charge the battery and then go back to cm!
my doubt is: does the performance (on cm) change depending on the sbf i flash?? or after flashing a custom rom, there won't be any difference??
becuase i read some users saying nordic froyo is the best..
thanks!

I don't think "cleaning" your phone will give you more than a placebo effect. Are you on bl5, bl6 or bl7?
In my opinion it's not too important what sbf you have as base, but the kernel you flash. I'm on bl6, so I can flash both froyo and gb kernels. If i want to go back to stock and charge my battery to maximum after using a froyo rom, i only restore this 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 nandroid with 4.5.3-109 or 4.5.2-109-DHT22 kernel. I'm on bootolader 6, so i've flashed a fixed sbf with the bl6 froyo sbf bootloader (here)
For every-day use, I have the 4.5.2-109-DHT22 kernel on gb roms. When i flash this over my stock gingerbread rom together with a custom rom (gingerbread rom that is), i get great battery (with deepsleep). Also, gingerbread kernels support 4 vsels in bootmenu and IMO reads the battery level much more correctly.
What you can do to your defy+ depends a lot on what bl version you're on. If you have bl7, you can't flash froyo kernels, etc.
Haven't really got any experiences with kernels and speed/performance.
firt at all thanks for your help!!
actually i'm not sure about my bootloader.. i think it's bl6 but i never got how to understand it...
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-132
is it bl6??
it's strange because i everytime i flash 4.5.2-109-DHT22 kernel i get bootloader error.. but i can root it normally so i don't think it's bl7!
thanks again for your help!!

4.5.2-109-DHT22 is BL5, yours is BL6 and that's why you get the error.
Thabks thanks thanks!!!
Really helpful like always!!
You can flash bl6froyo sbf or bl6froyo fixed sbf with the bootloader only! then you can flash Walter's kernel and even froyo kernels!

did it! now finally i'm using walter kernel.. and i don't know if it's a placebo effect, but my defy is way faster
thanks again!
Hello dear Community,
I'm using CM for quiete a while now and read many posts in different forums, but unfortunately I still couldn't find a satisfactory explanation which "systems" are running on my Defy+.
More specifically:
I installed a BL7 stock ROM update after I bought my Defy+. Then I waited some weeks until there was a way to root this via a CN Rooted SBF and installed CM9/10.
I now want to know if there is still data associated to that stock ROM left on my Defy+, or whether it was all overwritten by the CM10 ROM
Might any remains of the CN stock ROM be responsible for problems with connectivity / Should I install everything again with the EU Rooted SBF?
I feel puzzled about all the layers of systems on the Defy... theres a SBF, firmware, kernel, 2ndInit, 2ndBoot, CM, ...
How do these all these depend/contain/build up on each other? (i.e. does CM10 with 2ndboot contain its own kernel/firmware?)
I hope you understood my questions
Thank you in advance.
Components of stock rom should have nothing to do with the connectivity problem.
Just think of it this way, sbfs to you are irrelevant because you're on bl7. Basically, cm10 wipes system(stock Rom), and you wipe the data and cache, so there's nothing really left(except for the stock kernel). The exploit we use to run custom kernel bypasses the stock kernel and uses kexec to load another kernel on top of it.
2ndinit is what we use to run custom recovery and control the initialization of the custom roms by use of modules, such as to enable overclocking.
2ndboot basically uses kexec and loads the custom kernel(as in cm10 and the in development cm10.1).

Hello, I have I9505 with Philz Recovery and SlimBean ROM.
I've tried to flash this kernel, but my device stuck at boot,
tried flashing Chronic 4.2 kernel - reboots after 1-2 minutes.
Please, give the link to stock kernel (as far as I remember is was something like "....3.4.0.....")

Why would you flash a stock kernel on a custom rom? No benefit in that, only possible trouble. It is better to stick with the kernel that comes with the rom.
