i had the gs4 on release and i was messaging iphone users in group chat all the time then i switched back to the iphone 5 in june and now just recently about 3 days ago i switched back to the gs4 and i can't get any replies from people in the group chat. any advice im running shostock rom if that helps.
i checked online and i have removed the device and changed the password and even turned i message off on the original phone. what now
So nothing changed at all on the S4? You were using shostock initially as well? Do you have group messaging turned on in your sms/mms settings? (not sure if this feature is in shostock)

Did you check your messaging settings to see if there's a group messaging option?

I use the stock ROM on my AT&T S4 on MF3 and with "Group Messaging" enabled from Message > Settings - I usually have no problems. Sometimes longer messages come in from an iPhone user and I have to first hit "Download" and then it appears in the group message.
Try handcent, it always works for me. Also, stock messaging app has a group chat box, make sure its ticked. and data has to be on in order to group message. They send as MMS.
At the end of last week, I installed the new 4.4 Google apps, including the new Hangouts, on my CM10.2 nightly-equipped N4. Voice+ was enabled, and integration continued to work just fine. This meant that I now had everything (SMS, GVoice, and Hangouts) routing through one application. It was a pretty ideal solution for me.
Being impatient, I have since moved to the 4.4 roms that are floating around. I wanted to see if it would be possible to bring Voice+ into one of these roms since Google is in no rush to give us complete integration. I was surprised when my search for information on this issue yielded very little information. Am I missing it? Is this not as widespread of an issue as I might have expected?
Has anyone come up with a good way to integrate everything now that Hangouts and SMS have been officially integrated?
I'm not sure if any other roms have pulled Voice+ from CM yet. But also, I don't know if anyone has done much with 4.4 other than get it running yet.
However, the CM team posted this on Google+: https://plus.google.com/117962666888533781522/posts/gFjZS7NcTNr
basically it says they're starting to work with 4.4, and it appears most of their mods are functioning and not causing any problems building.
So hopefully it won't be too long before we start seeing test builds of CM 11.
edit: I will also mention that I'm anxiously awaiting Hangouts getting all of the Google Voice features. I use Google Voice for everything, and SMS, calling, and hopefully VOIP (like in iOS) in Hangouts would be fantastic!

Thanks for that link. I hope we see some builds popping out relatively soon.
I too use Voice for everything. No one even has my (currently) T-Mobile number. I've had carriers in multiple continents, and it's been great always having one number that works no matter where I'm living at the time. I will be very pleased when full native integration is introduced.

Do you still get voicemail notifications through Google Voice on your phone? When I did this on my D2VZW, Google Voice Texts integrated with Hangouts via voice+, but when I got a voicemail it would ping and then disappear, so I only saw it if I happened to open the Google Voice app (which I wasn't doing often since Hangouts handled messaging).

Actually, no. I hadn't even thought about it, but I missed a call yesterday, and I had no voicemail notification. Thanks for pointing that out.
I have Voice+ installed on my Nexus 5, but when I send a text through Hangouts it still uses my phone number, not my GV number. Did I miss a setting or something?

I thought Voice+ was only available through CyanogenMod. Has CM built for the Nexus 5 already? Or do you mean the Voice App by Google?

There is an app in the Play Store that installs the CM software onto other roms. I tried it with AOSP 4.4 on my N4, but Voice+ wouldn't work. I'm still waiting for my N5 to arrive. There is an unofficial CM11 being built for the N5, but I don't want what all is included or functioning at this point.
I'm having an issue on my Galaxy S5. If I use the stock messaging app MMS works fine sending and receiving. However if I use ANY other app including Textra and EvolveSMS, MMS always fails. I've tried tinkering with each apps settings but still no go. I would really prefer to use Textra but MMS is a deal breaker. The devs can't help but the fact that it is every app and only stock messaging sounds strange. What do you think?
Hi!
Currently I'm on stock Touchwiz, but every now and then I try out the latest from Temasek and his unofficial Cyanogenmod rom. Unfortunately I always have to return to stock again, because it seems no Cyanogenmod based rom can handle dual APN:s - one for Internet connectivity and one for MMS.
I have the Swedish carrier Halebop (uses Telia's network) and when using the settings they provide for Internet and MMS, as soon as I try to send or receive an MMS, my Internet connection dies and I get an exclamation mark next to the connectivity bars.
Is anyone else having trouble with this? I found this: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/95404/, but the "fix" (if it ever was one) seems to have been abandoned.
Note that I've tried many different sms apps, including Google Messenger, Hangouts and Textra, and they all behave the same.

Hi there! Did you find a solution for this problem? I'm stuck on every CM or AOSP rom since Lollipop... ?

Unfortunately not.. Temporary solution is to use Google Messenger for SMS and disable auto retrieve MMS. That way one can make sure to be on WiFi before downloading the attachments, so that the mobile data doesn't go down.
I think it might be a pretty rare problem, especially since most carriers only have one APN...
Having issues with download mms. Some apps work like stock and pulse, but others like yaata, mood, etc don't. I can't edit the apn settings in the native settings app, so does anyone have any suggestions?
Are you cdma_less?
If not, then search. There's a hundred messages about it.

Yes.
For me it seems that mms is working in some messaging apps and not others. Signal, for example, cant download mms messages but when i use the default messaging app it seemed to work okay, at least for group messages. SMS works on all and it's been set to CDMA-less

Exactly what I'm dealing with. Yaata, textra and mood doesn't download mms at all and I use yaata so I really wanna know what a fix could be.

Yeah. I'm in the same boat. Everything is work on the OP6T after hours with Verizon and my own investigation. Pulse, stock, Textra, Android Messages, Chomp, Verizon message all work properly (sms/mms send/receive). Yaata and Mood won't download mms. Can't change APN on phone
I tried changing the apn via adb. It didn't save. Also tried editing the apn dB file but that made the phone shut down instantly when you get past the boot animation.
I used to use ChompSMS buy couldn't get MMS messages to download. QKSMS has been working great so far with 0 issues!!!

Just tried Qksms and it works too. Seems only Yaata and Mood won't download mms. Interesting how the most customizable sms apps are the ones that don't work properly. You'd like to think that with all the customization we'd be able to tweak it to get it to work? Sucks because I really liked Yaata; so much that I purchased it back in the early days. And I like Mood too. Wrote to their support so we will see what they say....

I liked chomp because it has a lock screen quick reply. But not getting MMS is kinda dealbreaker.
I just had this issue with ChompSMS. Under Settings > MMS, I changed Carrier Send Limit = 1MB, and MMS Behavior = System. Forced Closed ChompSMS and reopened it. Seems to be working ok so far most of the time.
Just to add to this I'm having the same issue downloading MMS with Signal.
Verizon user here with CDMA-less mode enabled and all that junk!
I'm running into the same issue with my 6T using Chomp. I saw this about 2 weeks ago and fixed the issue by uninstalling Chomp, then clearing the cache on MMSservice, then reinstalling Chomp. I then tested it every which way I could think of sending tests from my wifes phones (whos on ATT). All were received without issue, SMS, MMS, group texts (which send as MMS).
However now just this morning it's popping up again. Considering more than just Chomp is having the issue (based on this thread) it seems to me it's either a Pie issue, or maybe something with OOS. Searching around though I've seen a lot of people have the same issue back after just upgrading to Nougat on various phones. So if i had to guess i'd say it's more an OS level issue with our fav text apps needing a small tweet somewhere.
For reference:
OOS 9.0.7
Rooted
Call record module
Viper module
Having this issue as well. Going to try QKSMS now.
I used to use Cuomo but couldn't get MMS to work and I true everything.
Using qksms and have had 0 issues!!
Hmmm I'm still having issues with QKSMS. I'm trying to dual sim at&t and Verizon but can never never get full functionality. Closest I was able to get was AT&T fully working but only able to send with Verizon. Otherwise it's one working fully and the other not working at all.
Anyone running dual lte?
**edit**
Also, anyone tried Havoc or MIUI?
ChompSMS was updated yesterday. MMS issues still remain though.
I switched over to QKSMS after my initial post and haven't had a problem yet. Although it took a few weeks for it to show up with Chomp as well so I'm still "waiting". So odd that some of you see it constantly, where it takes a couple weeks for it to crop up for me.
Still rocking the same OS and mods as my previous post for reference:
OOS 9.0.7
Rooted
Call record module
Viper module
Working with the ChompSMS dev to get MMS working. His other app Textra seems to be working well with MMS so far.
