not getting go sms pro send mms for the life of me. I can sent pic/mms with the stock app and handcent but not with go sms pro (my favorite ...any suggestions. I have nexus 4 on ATT.
N4 initially couldn't send MMS with any app other than the stock app. Sounds like GoSMS hasn't been updated yet to be compatible.
I have yet to see a good sms alternative that works right with ics and up. They are all written to run on gingerbread and made "compatible" with 4.0-4.2.1. I would just use the stock mms, I use that and a custom text tones app, seems the best way to go
Really though it is frustrating. Why hasn't any developer dared to ditch gingerbread and make an sms app purely on 4.X framework? I loved gosms until I got my ics update on my vivid, afterwards it was buggy and laggy and looked like crap with no holo ui.
Anyway that's your problem. All the sms apps just suck and our stuck in the past.

So I found the fix for my own problem. Go SMS pro doesn't not import the default MMS APN info from the stock program. What worked for me- I manually updated the default AT&T APN details into go sms pro. pretty simple fix in the end. works like a charm so far.
1. on the N4, Go into settings/ mobile network/ access point names/ att wap. Record values for MMSC, MMS proxy and MMS port.
2. go into Go sms pro advanced settings/ MMS settings/ check in " fill APN manually"/ insert the previously recorded info above into the empty fields and voila...
Cool, I'll keep that in mind if I ever use it again, that's good to know

This one has me scratching my head looking for answers. I noticed this problem a while ago where my friends MMS sent from iPhones were not appearing on my Messages, I have the option for "fetch MMS automatically" and all I get is the little cloud but its blank, it only shows the time it was received, I've also tried disabling the fetch MMS automatically and even when downloading them it shows me the blank cloud. The doozy comes when I tried using Hangouts just to see what it was and to my surprise I could see all my SMS and MMS conversations from my contacts and all the pictures from the iPhone contacts were shown via Hangouts but they do not show on the stock Messages app.
Things I've tried:
1) Googling for answers only resulted in fanboyism comments and speculations that led to more fanboyism.
2) At first I tried contacting my carrier and they made me reset the APN settings to default, which I did and it was after that that I realized that it was only the iPhone MMS messages that weren't being received.
3) Tried disabling the Hangouts services via the Apps option on the settings menu. Restarted phone and still wouldn't work.
4) Been restarting my phone with each setting I change to see if it helps but no.
5) Been bugging my friends to send me MMS from their iPhones and one did get through but nothing more after that.
6) Made sure their iPhones had the setting of "Send MMS when iChat isn't available" enabled.
7) Made sure my old iPhone account was signed out of my old iPhone 4 so I wasn't receiving anymore iMessages.
I'm speculating that I either need to call my carrier again which is Claro PR and explain the situation to see if it helps, or maybe go to a store. Also, I've been thinking about Rooting my phone so I can uninstall some of the bloat, which included Hangouts but don't want to go down that path yet and I don't know if it would really help anything since I already tried disabling the service via the Apps options.
Please help me figure this out, I love this phone but this thing is bugging the hell out of me.
I have had problems with mms on hangouts and the stock app on Sprint doesn't support group mms. I have been using Go sms pro and everything works fine, including iPhone mms messages.

Hmm... interesting a replacement messaging app, I would definitely keep this in mind so thanks a lot for the suggestion. I rather use the stock apps while I'm getting used to the phone since this is my first Android device but will definitely use this if resetting to factory defaults doesn't help my problem.

LG didn't enable MMS group messaging on stock messages. My HTC One and S4 had the option in settings to enable it...LG left it out. If you haven't heard, TEXTRA is one of the best, fastest, light weight messaging apps that can handle iPhone group messages without the bloat on go sms and handcent. Look it up on the playstore...ratings are great and all my Android friends use it now. I've yet ran into any issues with group texting.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I've looked up Textra and seems like a nice alternative and has a very clean interface, I'm currently using Hangouts from Google without a problem but would have preferred the stock message app. It's weird because I went to my carrier and they did some test and everything was fine, turns out its only MMS sent from iPhones that won't show through the Message app from G2. Maybe I should try emailing them to see if I can get some answers?
Yea only the Verizon variant supports group messages. I posted a thread about this in the Themes and Apps forum. Could be the cause.
All my friends group text me all the time and send MMS using the Verizon version Messaging app and hangouts. The stock messaging app world best though.

So i have the ota lollipop release on my N4. the google messenger app will not send mms (pictures or group texts). i figured it was my apn settings, but out of a hunch i decided to set hangouts as the sms/mms app. to my surprise, the hangouts app will send MMS.
anyone else noticed this or have a fix? i would like to use the stock messenger app if possible.
Anezarati, I've got the same exact issue. Ended up uninstalling Messenger last night because of it. Would love a fix as well - definitely prefer it vs hangouts or aosp messaging.
EDIT: just found that the MMS port in my APN was incorrect (on AT&T, MMS port was blank, it should be 80). Fixed my problem, hopefully it works for you too!
Some lollipop users are experiencing the same issue.. It will remain until Google patches it.. Or some Dev comes up with a fix

ive been using hangouts for a few weeks due to issues with other apps not receiving mms. just downloaded the newer google messenger today and it cannot send or receive mms. my apn settings are complete and accurate. really confused.

I've used Textra, Evolve, and now Google's messenger and none will send MMS nor receive MMS, I have to open the stock app on the phone to get them. I actually went a week not knowing it was happening until someone mentioned they had sent me a pic, so I opened the stock messaging app and showed I had a lot of MMS I hadn't even received.
I revoked permissions from the stock app, reinstalled the other app, even etc, but still nada, can't send/receive MMS at all.
Thoughts?

I am using YAATA no issues, but I did not disable the stock app or verizon messenger+ because my watch uses verizon messenger+

I haven't disabled anything, and it still doesn't work. I have given every app all the permissions they needs (stock messenger, google messenger, etc) yet it still won't send MMS in Evolve, or Google Messenger........ONLY the stock LG Messenger.
Anyone have any more ideas?
Actually ive had issues with mine on occasion using Textra. Tells me that my APN settings are not working or something like that. Mines AT&T variant though. Idk whats up but its annoying as hell.
But after like 10 minutes it works just fine again.

Did you buy it from Verizon? In other words is it the Verizon model, or just being used in Verizon?

I've had the same issue. The weird thing is it started out working fine - I'd installed Google Messenger and I received mms group texts just fine for a couple days, but now every mms message just says "downloading"...
Same issue here, with Verizon phone. Also worked fine for first week or so using Google Messenger. Now neither that nor LG Messages apps can send/receive MMS - only Verizon Messages+ works.

I can't figure that one out, why it worked initially... I haven't taking the OTA, and I didn't really do anything that should have changed that, it just up and quit...
I've had luck getting Textra to work. There's an MMS Behavior option in there - Legacy appears to work (I think that's the default), system does not, then it's all just perpetually downloading...

correction: apparently LG Messaging and Verizon Message+ both work. Google Messenger and Google Hangouts do not. Guess I'll try some other 3rd party apps...

Textra and Evolve neither worked for me
I've used Textra on my VZW V20 since day one.. ZERO issues.
GOSMS works, as long as you have it set to "legacy".
What's maddening is Textra used to work fine, but then just stopped.
UPDATE: Uninstalled all 3rd party messaging apps, rebooted, reinstalled Textra.......working again. YAHOO!!!!!!!!

This is the solution. Download YAATA, navigate to Settings > MMS and manually configure the APN using the settings posted by dwertz (see post #2).
Having issues with download mms. Some apps work like stock and pulse, but others like yaata, mood, etc don't. I can't edit the apn settings in the native settings app, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes.
For me it seems that mms is working in some messaging apps and not others. Signal, for example, cant download mms messages but when i use the default messaging app it seemed to work okay, at least for group messages. SMS works on all and it's been set to CDMA-less

Exactly what I'm dealing with. Yaata, textra and mood doesn't download mms at all and I use yaata so I really wanna know what a fix could be.

Yeah. I'm in the same boat. Everything is work on the OP6T after hours with Verizon and my own investigation. Pulse, stock, Textra, Android Messages, Chomp, Verizon message all work properly (sms/mms send/receive). Yaata and Mood won't download mms. Can't change APN on phone
I tried changing the apn via adb. It didn't save. Also tried editing the apn dB file but that made the phone shut down instantly when you get past the boot animation.
I used to use ChompSMS buy couldn't get MMS messages to download. QKSMS has been working great so far with 0 issues!!!

Just tried Qksms and it works too. Seems only Yaata and Mood won't download mms. Interesting how the most customizable sms apps are the ones that don't work properly. You'd like to think that with all the customization we'd be able to tweak it to get it to work? Sucks because I really liked Yaata; so much that I purchased it back in the early days. And I like Mood too. Wrote to their support so we will see what they say....

I liked chomp because it has a lock screen quick reply. But not getting MMS is kinda dealbreaker.
I just had this issue with ChompSMS. Under Settings > MMS, I changed Carrier Send Limit = 1MB, and MMS Behavior = System. Forced Closed ChompSMS and reopened it. Seems to be working ok so far most of the time.
Just to add to this I'm having the same issue downloading MMS with Signal.
Verizon user here with CDMA-less mode enabled and all that junk!
I'm running into the same issue with my 6T using Chomp. I saw this about 2 weeks ago and fixed the issue by uninstalling Chomp, then clearing the cache on MMSservice, then reinstalling Chomp. I then tested it every which way I could think of sending tests from my wifes phones (whos on ATT). All were received without issue, SMS, MMS, group texts (which send as MMS).
However now just this morning it's popping up again. Considering more than just Chomp is having the issue (based on this thread) it seems to me it's either a Pie issue, or maybe something with OOS. Searching around though I've seen a lot of people have the same issue back after just upgrading to Nougat on various phones. So if i had to guess i'd say it's more an OS level issue with our fav text apps needing a small tweet somewhere.

Hmmm I'm still having issues with QKSMS. I'm trying to dual sim at&t and Verizon but can never never get full functionality. Closest I was able to get was AT&T fully working but only able to send with Verizon. Otherwise it's one working fully and the other not working at all.
Anyone running dual lte?

ChompSMS was updated yesterday. MMS issues still remain though.
I switched over to QKSMS after my initial post and haven't had a problem yet. Although it took a few weeks for it to show up with Chomp as well so I'm still "waiting". So odd that some of you see it constantly, where it takes a couple weeks for it to crop up for me.
