Has anyone ordered, received, or owns one of these units? If so, would you let me know what your experience with it has been. http://www.amazon.com/CX-919-Androi...dapter/dp/B00D05XSMY/ref=cm_rdp_product.....I did a search here but do not find any post with this model. Great to hear
Ive been tracking it on some other forum's. So far its been mostly positive. Im hopeing it won't be to difficult to root. Looks like getting the drivers to load properly is the tough part. Will find out. That's for sure. Lol.

Mine is currently on it's way from Singapore, there are 4.1 and 4.2 finless roms available for it, and it is pre rooted but it seems it's not properly rooted because by default you don't get full root.
I ordered one for myself --> Finless ROM is available so far.
Delivery shoud be in 7-9 days.
Finless

Yep. Finless is the way to go. Read about some issue with root too. But I believe it will pan out by the time ours get here. Fingers Crossed. :good:

got mine 2 weeks ago. It doesn't come prerooted. I flashed Finless 1.4 (4.2.2) and it is working great and stable. The flashing process is quite easy and straight forward. One negative point is (but this is the case for all RK3188 sticks) that the official stable XBMC 12 doesn't work. You need to use XBMC 13 which currently is at Alpha V7 stage and often crashes. Ohterwise very happy with the device

Have a question for you guys as reading how you too flashed bobs JB 4.2 ROM. As you know there are choices for space of the apps. 2,4,6 gb. I first tried the 4gb. But when I did. The box on that choice went from green to dark blue. Everything else remained green. Tried to flash and it got a error message. So flashed and just left that line alone with the default 2gb. This time it flashed no problem. But now I'm stuck with 2gb. So Gona refresh. Is it normal for that box to turn blue when you make the choice? If anyone knows..please inform me. TY.

I flashed mine with the default choice of 2GB, i think it's the perfect configuration so that i have enough room for my apps and ALSO enough room for my media files.
i can't answer your question here but i'm sure Finless BOB will answer your question on his own thread HERE

Thanks. I already asked there. Just had not received any reply yet. Searched around to see if maybe someone else has had this issue. Cant find anything. But you raise a question. Why not store those files on the ext. SD card. Or am I missing something. Thats what I do on my tab. Is that not possible on this ROM?
Thanks

AHH okayyyy, that's why then, for LARGE GAMES
if this is the case then you have to try DirectoryBind this app let's you move all the large data files of any game to the external sd card and fool the rom that these files are still on the internal memory. the app supports syncronisation of the files between the external and internal memory.
great tool, i use it and i love it.
but before you move the game data to the external sd card you have first to install and run everything on the internal.
anyway this is just a solution if you can't get the 6GB config.
why don't you flash the stock 4.1 rom, run it then flash Finless's ROM with the 6GB? i think this way you get the CX919 really FORMATTED
GOOD LUCK
So how do you guys like the CX-919?
After I have canceled my Ouya I am looking for alternatives
If you could share some information and experiences I would greatly appreciate it! :good:
Looking for stuff like boot time, lags in the OS, XBMC alpha, what setup are you using etc.

I finally got the 4gb . The directions tell you to reboot between wipe and flash. Ignored that. Did wipe. Chose 4gb. Color still changed from green to blue. But went with. Flash went ok. ROM is fine. Link2sd works. Might try directory bind if it does not cause issues with Link2sd. But DB sounds better for large games. Well time for some more testing. TY

I can tell you a little. I did not play around with the stock ROM to much. But I did flash finless 4.2. Had a little trouble with getting drivers installed. Seems that is normal deal. But it worked out. As for device. Its fast! I have not had any lockups or reboots. Video from USB thumb drive and SD card play fine. DLNA works surprisingly well. On this ROM. Netflix is not working. Crackle is not working. Real bummer. Most apps install fine and work. Buy seems like any apps that would turn it into a true smart tv device wont work. I already have a smart tv with these apps. So, that does not bother me to much. But if your going to use it for turning a tv into a smart tv. Well, Forget it. I may try the 4.1 Finless ROM. Read where people were saying these apps work on it? Will see. Anyway this is a fast great device and am having fun with games...

cx919 on stock vs Finless
I used it a bit with stock rom, now I am on Finless 1.4 (4.2.2) ..
- On stock my favorite Dice player didn't work (was showing "can't start video", even when u try to open it), some old Logitec USB camera was not detected by stick/skype, videos from external hdd plugged were playing ok.. Interesting that Antutu crashed during testing...
- Finless brought me really ugly splash screen, as well as old usb camera support in skype, which I tested and it worked pretty good during 45min conversation.. Dice player now works but in a funny way.. a bit slow.. (I saw decoding is done using software and didn't have time now to find option for hw decoding.. should be better).. It is nice that some crappy useless apps are gone, but on the other side developer added some "game mapper controler" and few other apps which are at least for me and for now useless (better would be to mention them in readme so user can download them)..This is about reboot app for example, which could be super usefull, except that it froze somehow my stick and I couldn't start it not even after hard reset.. Flash of Finless again boot it up again.. For SuperUser developer decided not to use the most popular and open source app, but at least in this rom there is root (Stock was pain in the ass to get the root, if u manage to get drivers work).. The biggest problems, however was very difficult mounting of external hdd and even usb. From USB I eventually was able to play videos, while HDD was "blinking" all the time, it even showed up in a list but when I tried to access it it was impossible.. I lost patience waiting, cause I know that on stock that was way much shorter then 3+ min I was waiting on Finless.. Beside this issues I noticed that sometimes mouse/pointer doesn't move and on stock that never happened.. Is that lockout or? This was really annoying, when u know it's quad core and on stock it worked good.. It happened that
All in all good work with some annoying issues which will hopefully be fixed with 1.5 .. Thanks to author.. Cheers

Working great and stable means it doesn't load widgets and things after boot much slower then stock? Mounting external storage like usb or hdd works? Cause I couldn't make it mount other storages AT ALL... Plus it happen that randomly got super slow, that playing videos got a bit funny and sooo on.... Please write a bit more of ur experience.. How u r actually using this stick..? 10q

Well, I can't tell much about widgets because I'm not using any. I installed Nova launcher since the beginning.
USB sticks definitely work on mine. I am using ES Explorer and the stick gets mounted under USB0 so I only need to browse there to access it. My stick is plugged in the USB slot of my tv. I was surprised to see that the power it gets from the USb slot is enough but it works fine and is convenient because the stick starts automatically whenever I switch on my tv and turns off when I turn off the tv.
Mostly I am using the stick for watching life tv from the net (my desktop contains browser links, no widgets) or YouTube for the kids, or XBMC or watching movies which are stored on my pc

Weird, for some reason my tablet seems to be getting slower and it's driving me nuts. Now I am not sure if it's the custom rom or not, maybe I should just say nuts to it and get rid of root and reload the stock rom.
Is there a way to test the read wright speed so I can double check?

Nope, the biggest issues are when just pictures or chandroid is running. They move fine but slow to a crippled crawl in a bit, as for a task killer I don't have any unless it comes stock off the custom rom.
Honestly it is annoying as hell when it gets to a craw and then force close over and over.

No, they both work fine on my nook and my hd2 and my other tablet. It's just the newest one I got (ie the transformer) that I started to notice the issue. I worked with the dev from chandroid and we tried everything and he said as he looked over the crash report that there was nothing wrong with the app.
On the stock build of OS, he said it was an issue being caused by splashtop stuff. Is there anyway to rip every program out by the core needed to run and let me add them one at a time to test?

If you're rooted, you should just be able to uninstall stuff with Titanium Backup.. but make sure you backup the app first.

Aye, I got root. I was hoping to find out if there was a rom that was just barebones. So more or less do a full backup and then pull them all out and test it one at a time? I can just do a backup in clockwork mod.

What is the best way to remove anything/everything? Cause if I got it backed up and if I blow the OS I can just do a recovery.
The easiest way would be to freeze the app with titanium backup, you could also just manually rename it or delete it.

Should be obvious. Does it look and act identical to the transformer?
Once thing I have found is that apps can run well on older versions of android but have issues with honeycomb. Like cut the rope, it crashes and is slower to load on the tablet but blazes on my evo. Asked the dev and he said its not yet developed for honeycomb.
My TFs internal memory is plenty fast.
Just root it without someones Rom. Stock would be your goal to see if a Rom affects it.
Watchdog from the market would help. It would show you what apps are running and how much they are using the Cpu
When I use Dolphin HD or Pad I can see when it's hanging up...not loading the page then..it dies lol freaking apps.

I will try that, honestly I just want a way to see what's going on with it. I am not sure if it's using all the memory or what with all the images it loads. Since my problems always come from mass images loading.
Possibly just eating up your RAM then - the SSD shouldn't be (that) active if it's image loading and not saving.

Well like with just pictures, it's a big display of thumbnails for viewing your images. I know it can cashe the data to make it faster but that just seems to make it slower, as for chandroid the longer I use it the slower it gets. So maybe it's not purging old data?
I believe it's been around for about a week now, and I already see posts about a new wi-fi issue and the stock browser freezing. I'm well aware of the issues that were caused by the 3.1 update since ive had this tablet since 3.0, so I figured i'd come here to see what to expect if I take the plunge.
i'd love to know anything yall can tell me, but did they at least fix the old wifi glitch? and what's the story on the new one?
anyone? bueller?
After I updated a couple weird things.
I play Live holdem poker on it and the poker game keeps refreshing.
When it does it makes me fold the hand.
Had some great hands that got folded.
I also keep getting a "server timed out," or similar while on the net when it did not.
update; internet not timing out now.
The game is still folding my hands.
No problem with the game on my other tablet.
Otherwise everything is working good.
Been doing 3.2 for a while now, and no problems come to mind for me.

I guess that's why every so often I see service started or similar in the notification bar.
I do not notice any problem with it while on the net.
Just that one game keeps refreshing.
I have another poker game that does not do it at all.
I wouldn't mind it except that it has folded my hand at times when they were sure winners.
Videos occasionally stutter and jump frames, while audio remains fine. Happens a lot in YouTube.
Speaking of YouTube, it crashes a lot. Not force closes, but hangs for a bit and then goes back to the main YouTube screen.

You can blame that on a "cooked" ROM, I "believe" the OP was asking about stock 3.2, but I could be mistaken.

If you already upgraded to 3.2 and lost your root, you can rollback to stock 3.0, then install one of the custom 3.2 ROMS in the developer’s thread that are rooted. They use a different boot loader and if you prefer stock, there are some ROMs that are very near stock. It might be a while before the devs crack the new boot loader.
I'm still seeing the stock music player not advancing to the next track if the screen is off... I know, there are other player options that don't have this issue, but it's still crap that the standard player is effectively useless and behaves differently than most music players on most phones/tablets.

Now that we have a way to install rooted 3.2 regardless of the bootloader there is little sense to continue trying to crack the new bootloader. The same happened with the Desire HD - once there was a way to downgrade, rooting was abandoned. I too prefer to have a way of rooting instead of downgrading, but it seems that downgrading is the easier path.
On topic: I have no issues whatsoever with the rooted near-stock 3.2 ROM. No wifi dropouts (not that I had any with 3.0 or 3.1) or anything like that.

I have had issues with 3.1 WIFI but it seems to be gone with 3.2
just loaded the 3.2 update and noticed that when I plug it in via USB to my laptop it sees both cads but it won't open the SD card. It registers the space used but won't display the content. Any thoughts?
Not rooted.
I got tired of waiting for the 3.2 update and decided to install a custom 3.2 ROM. Everything works great and I did have the short battery life issue mentioned in this thread..... I found it was all due to Wifi being set to always on. After I fixed that my battery life is excellent.
I get dropped hands in poker too but it's usually when I am in a weak wifi area of my house.

(stock phone unrooted) mine sometimes freezes but most times is ok. had an episode or two of crashing restarting without being able to do anything but now ok, some force closures in stock video player, stock file manager sometimes takes ages processing everytime i move into different folders. other video players and file managers are ok. stock task manager shows total ram at about 800mb of which about 644mb is being used most times or there abouts. thought the phone had 1gb where is the missing 200mb?? any clues.
I do not have a note, but going back to stock may fix your problem (or wiping dalvik and regular cache should fix this). After a while a rom can just get "clogged" up, which most do (cm7 takes longer usually). Clearing these or a whole different rom should fix this.
If you havcpower saving on can make a difference. On one stock ROM it lowered my cpu thresholds significantly

Hey guys. I am no dev and waiting as patiently as possible for "beta" ICS build. I would just love to know from you pro tinkerers how is the overall system performance? Are the home screen scrolling and animations smooth? Is it impressive because ICS is better optimized or is the hardware showing its age?
I stay with CM7 for now until 4 or 5 releases of CM9.
I've been very impressed with the sneakpeaks and in fact have been using them as a daily. I recommend doing your own builds though just to make sure everything is current (only reason I haven't is due to VM issues).
I mainly use mine for browsing, email, and PDF reading so I haven't had any issues with it.
If anything you can give it a shot and try it yourself (emmc or SD) then go back if needed.
Sound still not working, right?
Sound works fine for me in sneakpeak2, but the boost in dal's tweaks isn't working. Headphones are OK. Was watching Ghostbusters earlier.
I just loaded samian303's nightly build from 1/11 and so far so good listened to Pandora radio earlier and been able to do everything I could do on CM7.1. Though I have not tried video yet..

Oh, it's great to hear.
I haven't caught up with ICS lately.
I've been pretty happy with it. The only problem I had was that it did not see any of the media on my SD card. On that note...any ideas?
I just installed the most recent build and I am amazed how functional it is. The only trouble I have noted (with very limited tinkering) is flash player and the ics movie studio app.
All my media is there on emmc and sdcard, and movies play fine.
I hadn't realized how close they had gotten. There may be more serious problems that I haven uncovered, but I am considering making this an every day ROM. Everything else is minor minor stuff.
I have tried samian303's nightly build from an SD card and really like the progress from my first build of it. It's getting close to a beta or RC I would think.
ICS works very well the only thing it is missing that CM7 has is video playback. Other than that most everything works fine.

I am running the latest nightly and am over clocked to 1325. Runs very smooth for such an early build!

works okay
Ive been using it for a day or so and it seems to work fine to me. Just a lot of little odds and ends to adjust/clear up. A lot of apps are not showing up in market yet I can install them from my titanium backup.
Not bad at all
I've been using it since sneakpeek2 and have had a totally fun time with it. Took a few tweaks to get Calendar sync going, to get the launcher I wanted (I use Zeam) and to get everything looking the way I want it to but it's reliable enough for me to use daily.
The one annoying issue (besides video stuff which is just icing on the cake for me) is that the ICS Gmail app doesn't fit the screen, it cuts off at the edges, but this might have been resolved in a nightly or there might be a tweak that I haven't found yet, still searching. If anyone sees one, let me know.
For video I'm just using moboplayer and set default for software decoding. Works well enough for me so far, but I haven't thrown anything heavy at it.
ICS is a little buggy but for the most part its on point!!!

This is what I do as well. Seems to play everything I've thrown at it just fine, now if only streaming stuff/youtube/netflix worked then I'd be golden.

Youtube videos have played fine for me as long as you click on hd to turn it off in the lower left hand corner.

I don't own a cell phone so I am not up on all of the latest and greatest operating systems, so my question is what are the advantages of ICS over CM7? Is it analogous to upgrading from win98 to xp?

Not really. I would say its more like upgrading from windows XP to windows 7. everything feels more redefined . You should really give it a go. Try dual nothing a nightly. I'be been using it for 2 days now and its superb
Well, I used to have a Nook Simple touch until it was stepped on, so I'm getting a Color. Before I get it though, I'm just have a few questions.
1. For rooting this thing, how complicated is it? It's not so much it being too complex, it's more of do you have to re-partition it or downgrade to root and things like that.
2. How long does the battery last on this when you're constantly using this? I plan on mostly reading, taking notes in class, and just experimenting with it.
3. How compatible is this with Android apps with the rooted stock firmware? I've used a Nook Touch, and half the stuff didn't even launch. I'm assuming that's not the case on this.
4. How well does Cyanogen mod run from a card? Is it better to install it to the flash?
5. Is it better to root it or just use a custom rom?

There are some people that like the rooted stock, especially since it has been upgraded by B&N. I did not mind rooted stock and it could run almost anything. It was not difficult to root. But I was constantly worried that it would get updated over the air and wipe out my root. Then I tried CM7 and I was blown away. It was fantastic.
Running CM7 on SD works great. And it runs almost as fast. I can't tell any difference myself.
I personally recommend not doing anything with stock at first. Put CM7 on SD and see how you like it. Some people like leaving stock on the main memory because the Nook reader on stock is better than on CM7. It can read kids books, textbooks, etc. (edit: And with the CM7 boot menu it is easy to boot back and forth without taking out the card.) If you end up liking CM7 and not using stock you can always move your CM7 permanently to main memory.
Battery life is not great compared to the original kindle or original nooks. The color touch screen really eats the battery. I am on mine constantly and pretty much have to charge every night. But it does sleep good if you are not using it.
I don't think you will regret getting the Color.
The guide for installing to SD is here:

There is a brand new release of CM7 (7.2-RC1). You can get it here:

should have all the info you need to make your decision, if you follow cobyhoffs instructions it's pretty simple to root.

Awesome! That's actually just what I was needing. I wasn't really looking forward to having to take the card out every time I wanted to rebooting.
Is there USB Host for the NC?
Edit: And another question: is it possible to configure network settings like DNS on this? I'm guessing stock won't but Cyanogenmod will.

There is usb host built into CM. Not stock. I don't know the answer about dns. It think you can manually edit the connection settings like static ip, etc.
One last question, what size SD card should I get for Cyanogenmod?

Get any size you want, but it runs best from SanDisk class 4

You should take a look at the Racks uSD dual boot post too. I have been using that dual boot image with subsequent updates and it has been great and easy.

You don't have to. The bootloader (cyanoboot) has a menu. You can choose which you want to boot into, and you can set the default action to boot "through" sdcard to emmc unless told otherwise (if you want to change the normal boot behavior, which is to SD if it's bootable)
