Cricket ROMS? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Will the Sprint ROMS work on Cricket S4's? Looking to possibly move to Cricket but have been romming my phones since the OG Droid.

It depends on how the ROM is designed. My best guess would be no for most ROMs

Verizon Droid Eris?

Does anyone have one or is it mainly the sprint hero being used here?
I have one and I love it so far.
It will probably mainly be Sprint for a bit since we've had the Hero a while longer but I'm sure more Eris folks will start showing up (Just as there are a few Cell South users around too).
They might all be hovering around their respective "root status" threads.
This one is yours:

Yeah I have one and i absolutely love it. I have had the following android phones and I think the Eris is the best... MyTouch 3G, Motorola Cliq, and now the Droid Eris.
love it
hey i got a Moto DROID on release day and ended up returning it a little over a week ago for the Eris.... I miss 2.0 and the the DROID had a little more speed, as well as the flash, and gps nav..... but i wouldnt trade my Eris for a thing....
I love my Eris, loved my G1, and was ehh with the MyTouch3G. The Eris has the best UI but the G1 was great for modding anything on the phone except the carrier (T-Mobile sucks).

I think once we get more familiar with the cdma bits you'll see the hero/eris reach a similar .level of customizability.
I totally agree. Once this phone is rooted it will beat all the other phones I have owned. I do miss Tue physical keyboard but not going to cry over it.
i got one and love it
Best new phone experience yet for a smartphone and just keeps getting better and better.

Rooting Droid Eris

I know it's just a Sprint Hero, so maybe someone has figured out how to root the Eris. I've got one coming in the mail on Monday and would like to figure this out.
I was wondering if you have found out any more info on rooting the eris, i love my new phone but some of the stock apps need to go....
Nothing yet. I know there is a thread for rooting the Sprint Hero, and this is (from what I've read) just a redesign for Verizon... As I'm used to the rooted G1, I'm hoping that this is an easy process.
has anyone tried rooting it with the current method for the Sprint Hero?
I tried with all the methods i could find on the sprint hero with no luck. but i have also never rooted a phone before so i may have done something wrong but i am pretty sure i did everything right and was still not able to get it done. I am really looking forward to though...
The Eris is currently in the same boat as the Cellular South phones (which even look identical to the Sprint phones)...the vulnerability that we used in the sprint phones was patched and so you guys are stuck waiting for the new method. >.<

Hopefully, given the fact that many would be Droid buyers are opting for the Eris for the slicker interface and lower price, there will be enough of these on the streets that someone with the knowledge will want to figure it out.
Eris is awesome! but yes @chicojd it needs to be rooted!
newbie question
Since my N770 expired with the BSOD I've been looking for something to use as a small tablet. This morning I saw a Droid Eris on sale. When this gets rooted will it 802.11g capable without registration? Thanks.

Are you aware that there is a separate forum for the Eris now?
You will probably have better luck there!

New Android Phone(s) for Cellular South

I just wanted to post this in the CDMA General thread...
Cellular South plans on releasing new Android phones soon.
What do you think it could be!?
http://www.cellularsouth.com/DiscoverCenter/phones-apps/android/coming-soon.jsp
** There's also rumors of it being multiple phones released. And some think one will be the Moto Droid **
Another may be the Nexus? Just throwing it out there....
I just want an android phone with a snapdragon processor... I don't which brand...
(Nexus One, Incredible, Evo...)
Im guessing the nexus also. Maybe if you are really lucky, it could be an Evo.
I dont think it would be a droid since thats verizons big promotion thing and its gunna be a phone thats at least a little caught up with hardware/function wise. And the only ones I know of are nexus and evo.
I don't know about the Evo... I know that Sprint is trying to go all out with Evo and the 4g... but like I said... I could care less as long as it has that snap!
If they did come out and sell the moto droid.. I would rather keep my hero :/

I wasnt even thinking about 4g when i said Evo.. Yeahhh im going with Nexus as my final answer. Evo's gunna be for sprint and Droid's gunna be for verizon.
FWIW, a CSouth guy on another forum said there were going to be 2 new Androids, and neither is to be Nexus.
Verizon shortened the period that it has exclusivity arrangements with handset manufacturers to give smaller carriers a shot at getting up to date phones; I think they shortened the period to 6 months, so the Moto Droid would make sense in that case, and maybe they'd be trying to appease the "need a physical keyboard" crowd.
Personally, I'm with you guys, I'd like to see the Nexus or Incredible with the snapdragon...
He didn't happen to suggest when did he?
I'm looking to move to them and was wondering if I should hold out or not.

No, didn't say when, but my guess would be that they will introduce at least one of the new phones the same time we get the upgrade to 2.1 for the Hero, so probably within the next 2 months.
If you're interested in an Android phone, I would hold out a little longer...
Maybe CSouth meant the Milestone 2??

Hey MrDanger, think you'll be able to figure out how to root it so we can take advantage and get faster OS updates?

Adding a new line to account. Which phone should I get?

I will soon be adding a third line to my Verizon account. I currently own a Droid 2(which is great). My fiancee owns an LG Ally and we're not overly impressed. The plan is to give my fiancee my D2, give her daughter the Ally, and I will be getting a new phone. My question is, which Verizon phone should I get? I'm new to smartphones overall, but learning quickly. I've had my D2 for nearly a month and have Rooted, OCed, and tried various ROMs. It's become an obsession of sorts. I'd like something that is supported by a large community but more importantly is a great device. What are some opinions on the best handsets Verizon has to offer?

The D2 was the first android phone I got and for the most part I really like it. Everything runs smooth the slide out keyboard is pretty good the only problem is the Bootloader is locked which turns a lot of dev's away. I would probably stick with my D2 just because of its fast processor and one of the only slide out keyboard phones on the market but when looking into the ROMs and such you may want to go with a different phone that can get different kernels.
I would go for a droid x. Essentially the same hardware as the d2 (besides a slighty newer processor version). It also has a larger screen and better camera.
True that with the efuse in motorola's phones has the bootloader is locked down tight and makes things difficult. However there are a couple of extremely good roms such as fission and squidly, and overclocking is possible.
IF you want different kernels and such, perhaps go with a droid incredible.

[Q] LG G2 more ROMS coming?

I am getting ready to upgrade and the LG G2 on Verizon looks very nice. I'm not seeing many ROMS now and realize that it is pretty new and that ROMS don't just appear by magic.
Do people think that more ROMS will be forthcoming? I do enjoy various ROMS for the customizing etc. Are we waiting on some milestone to occur before development really starts?
If not the LG G2, what other phone on Verizon should I look at?
Thanks and please move if this isn't in the right forum.

The LG G2 has a lot of buzz in the "nerd" community. development will pick up. lg has never had the amount of owners as samsung but i have a good feeling about the G2. its REALLY good and Half the price of the note 3 :good:
verizon options are becoming limited as verizon gets manufacturers to encrypt bootloaders.
the s4 was looking like it was going to be the phone to get but its locked down tight.
hashcode0f has got safestrap working but no kernel access. it allows for roms and mods but its limited.
i say buy the G2 it works really well with cleanrom and a few mods.

So I swear this is true. If I'm lying, give me an iPhone
I go to the Verizon store and this was my conversation with the guy. I looked at the G2 and on the way out, wanted to see about a protective case.
ME: Do you have any cases for the G2.
VERIZON MORON: I don't know that that is.
ME: It's a phone by LG. You know, the LG G2. It's over there.
i think like anything else it is just a person by person experience. I bought one outright and the verizon rep couldn't say enough good about it. even as i even thought my mind was made up which he did not know. i asked questions about the htc one and samsung galaxy s4. he was waiting for the note 3 to come out as they get a discount and he really needed a big screen he still said the g2 was the best they had so there are negative experiences but for me verizon has endorsed it and when i went for the wireless charger continued to tell me how good of a phone it was
cm
I'm running a cm alpha rt now on vzw g2. Supports been great by community so far.
