Hello All,
The world clock on the S4 only has some cities preloaded.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how I can add cities (that are not already installed) on the S4?
Ex: New Orleans is not listed, can not be added.
Thanks,
David...

Generally, you would just use whatever city is in the database that has the same timezone as you since all the app wants to know is the timezone. For me (central time GMT -6), I usually use Chicago because up until the last few years that was the standard selection for central time in the US. In this case Dallas is actually closer to me so I will use it even though it makes no difference in the displayed time.

Hi Dale,
Thanks for replying.
Yes. it Get it. The Cities are representative of the timezone.
They have Houston, Dallas, and other TX cities in the same time zone as N.O. Texas gets multiple cities Louisiana gets 0.
I'm a Saints fan, not Texan or Cowboy.
My question still remains. Is there some way of adding cities to the S4 World Clock?

Hi,
I just like to know whether there is anywhere i can make the weather tab to show more than 10 cities? In my country it already occupied more than 6 cities in my listm, i need more space to store for other county cities.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
i haven't seen anything like this so far, are you trying to break the world record for how quickly you can travel around the world to need all of these cities? :O
no but it fun watching the weather in different city`s according the F1 calender
so i think it is a good idea.
Hehehe,
yea, i love to watch the other countries weather so that when i chat with friend, i know what are they up to
actually i travel quite often, about every two month, so just would like to know what is happening on the other side of the world.
Like another poster in this forum, in my current vocation I sell and activate Sprint cellphones.
The activation process is clear, and I do notice that data is "working" once the hands-free activation process is completed, but a puzzling issue has been occurring since the beginning of February that bears mention here, and perhaps some of you will have a solution.
Myself, I have a GSM Hero that I use on AT&T, I do not have 3G, but Edge works fine and my current city always shows the city that I am in, in this case, Columbus, Ohio. When I have activated these Sprint HTC Heroes, I have noticed that on the flipclock widget, as well as the weather application, that the time, weather, and location shown for 'current city' is Madison, a city in a state that is in the central time zone rather than eastern, let alone not even bordering the state that I am currently in.
Another odd thing to note is what appears to be the roaming legend in the notification bar along the top of the screen, which is there even when the phone is put into Airplane mode. The first time I saw this, I thought it was the phone itself, and even swapped the phone for another brand new HTC Hero, only to experience the same issue (let alone that every Hero since then has had this issue). On every Hero activation, I have called our Sales support, and through them transferred to tech support, trying just about everything they could think of only to give up and just put a notation on the account in case the customer gets any roaming charges on their bill.
I am wondering if any of you have experienced this, and if so, have you found a way to fix this?
You will be better off posting this in the 'Hero G2 Touch Q&A' forum since you are talking about a GSM Hero and not specific to any dev Rom

No, in paragraph two he was referring to the Sprint Hero, and to OP i haven't seen the issue you speak of before, have you tried a PRL update? If that doesn't work try turning off an pulling the battery for a minute or two and power i back on, if nothing still i would try an RTN, hope this helps!
i live in columbus and i have never seen this issue. i have had 5 cdma heros so far between mine and my wifes. in fact mine usualy default to london ohio for some reason. ive never seen madison wisconson.
I have the Sprint Hero also, and when I travel from Fairfield, Ia to Iowa City, Ia, I go through Washinton. The phone thinks it is D.C. WTF?
I live just south of dayton and my phone will always shows madison, wisconsin, i have to force it to cincy just so the time doesn't get f'd up its pretty annoying at best.
Does GMaps also place you in Madison? If so it might be an error on sprint's end. I've had network location place me 200 miles off a few times.
If it's confined to the weather app it could be an error in the Geocoding data it uses.
I live in fargo, nd. I have traveled threw the state and never had location problems. It even gets the little **** towns right.. hmm..

No maps is always located, I fairly confident you are right that the geocoding data is wrong, funny thing is I live in Madison Twp, but it puts me in Madison Wisconsin. It's really more annoying than anything.
Yeah, I constantly forget what city I live in.... So glad mine works fine....
Is there a town nearby called "Madison"? Perhaps that's where your normal tower is, or the name of the location of the tower is "Madison".
The clock ends up using the name and connecting it to the major city of the same name, whether it's nearby or not.
Mine does the same thing when I drive through Rochester, MN (not far west of here), and it'll tell me I'm in Rochester, NY, giving me a time an hour off. Annoying, yes. Big problem? No.
Unfortunately for where my store is located, there is not a 'Madison' to speak of.
Yesterday I sold another Hero, in which it too, was saying Madison, and showing the time for Madison, Wisconsin. I updated the PRL while I was on hold with Sprint, and then went into the weather app itself and updated it. To my surprise, it updated to Columbus, Ohio.
It would seem like The weather app on the CDMA Hero defaults to Madison. Since I have had no Heroes returned on me I must assume that perhaps after the customers have left, their Heroes would update and show the correct city themselves.
Same issue
I've had my phone since November, but here recently when I use the Clock + Weather Widget, the location automatically gets set to Madison (My time shows 1 hr behind ). Now, I've checked with other smartphone users that uses location based information and they are not seeing this issue. I live South East of Columbus and am in the Madison Township area. So, I'm thinking some sprint tower is registered as being in Madison and not Columbus. Right now, I decided to switch to beautiful Widgets and have not had any problems.

I've sold quite a few Hero's for Sprint up in Cleveland, and I never have seen one default to Madison. It could be due to your proximity to Madison co.
I did some searching with no luck. Can anyone tell me if their weather is updating today? I'm on T-Mobile USA, in S. Florida.
Last update was 7:30ish this morning. The phone still shows a moon with current weather, and the temp is this morning. I can connect to the internet as normal.
What service does sense use to get weatrher info?
It doesn't auto update for me either. It's set to update every hour. I also have US HD2.
Very odd. Thanks for the reply, as always first thing is to see if it's me or everyone. Since it's been working until now, I assume whatever weather service they use is down.
Also odd that the phone can't see the current time & adjust the picture & graphics accordingly, even if I haven't connected in a while.
My weather update seems to have only 2 states now. Suuny in afternoon even though its raining and dreary in night even though its snowing or clear sky. This started happening with my recent cooked roms i cant point on which build since i am not very familiar but yeah i have that problem.
mine is fine.
According to the official T-mobile forums, the areas of Atlanta, Carolina, Miami, Orlando and Tampa, Florida are affected
It updates if I go into the Weather tab, but otherwise no 'auto' updating. I'm in NYC.

Hooray (I think), but at least knowing it's not me. I read the HD2 forum daily, but haven't seen anything like that. I'll go look again, but if you have it, please send me a direct link.
Thanks for the post!!
Edit: Found http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/T-Mob...es-3-29-2010/m-p/341350/highlight/true#M13382 this, where they say:
-------
Hello T-Mobile Community,
We are aware that some customers are affected with a service disruption we currently have with the 2G and 3G networks in the following areas:
Atlanta, GA
Carolina
Miami, FL
Orlando, FL
Tampa, FL
At this time there is no estimated time of resolution sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Weather auto update
Hi all,
I have just find the solution for the weather that wont update automatically.
Previously it was set to update every 6 hours. But it newer did. Had to do it manually every time.
Now I have set it to update every hour, and it works!
I have seen in other posts that there are people with the weather set to update every hour and it still doesn't work for them, but if this works on my HD2, than I guess that this tip will help to at least some other Leo owners hawing the same problem...
Anyone know if there is any coverage in Tucson yet? I'm passing through here from Mesa and I wanted to put the 4G through its paces..

As far as I know, there is none in AZ at all. And, after the latest list for new 4G areas, AZ isn't getting any anytime soon.

I've been doing a little research. From what I can tell, Clearwire has applied for permits, permission or zoning variances in four or five locations around Tucson: by the Tucson Mall, Pima/Alvernon, some place on the south side, and they received permission from Marana schools to build towers at a school in Continental Ranch (a mile from my house!) and near Ina and Thornydale, I think.
Also, there was a job posting for a Clearwire manager position back in December of 09.
Unless Clearwire is just building towers for the heck of it, or they sell some other service, I think it's on its way.

Just out of curiosity, where does one go to find out about such permit applications? I'd like to do some snooping on their progress in Phoenix.

Well, of course, google is your friend. I would try "City of Phoenix" and clearwire, for instance (if I cared about Phoenix )...check the city (for all those suburbs) and county websites and look for the development services or similar department. Many have their permit applications and such online. County Board meeting minutes, city council minutes are good sources as they usually grant zoning variances and permits. I found Clearwire seeking permission from the local school board by reading the minutes of the school board.
I've been an investigator for years, so this is second nature to me...let me know if you have other questions or my response is less than clear.
Hey, you're right! I found this little gem regarding Clearwire in the minutes from a recent public meeting:
Use permit to co-locate a visible wireless communication facility

Good news: it was approved!
Bad news: it's not near my part of town.
Thanks, inspector! I'll see what else I can dig up.
Found this too if you're down near Chandler - it's from earlier this year...actually, we have an office in Phoenix and I am there frequently...I wouldn't mind you guys getting some 4G, just after Tucson

Thanks for the link to the article.
I always laugh about the "not in my backyard" outcries every time someone wants to put up a cell tower. I gotta believe that many of those folks are the same ones who are always complaining about poor cell coverage in their area.
If Clearwire wants to put up a high-speed WiMAX tower in my backyard, I'll roll out the red carpet and hire a marching band...

Great news for Port St. Lucie, FL. We now have 4G!
I just drove down US-1 to see if it was true and all be damned. I have an app, Sensorly Map Viewer, that maps out the coverage areas for a couple different signals, such as 4G, CDMA, GSM and WiFi. and I've been keeping an eye on the 4G, anxiously awaiting.
A few days ago I looked and it was showing an area that covers US-1 (from about White City, down to Port St. Lucie) and extends inward stretching down Floresta Dr. (Prima Vista Rd., down to Port St. Lucie Blvd).
So today I had to run out and do some errands over off US-1 and was finally able to find out if it was true or not. I was so excited when I connected and ran a speed test, 6 megs download. That's what I get with being on my home WiFi.
Now the ****ty part for me is that the coverage, according to the map, ends just a handful of blocks north of my house. It's ok though, like I said, my Wifi is the same.
So if there's anyone down here, that I was able to bring a smile to, hit the thanks button.
Also, IF there is anyone around here, hit me up if you would like to share info about our beloved phone. I have so much knowledge but I would love to meet someone that knows how to theme or something.
PEACE TO ALL
Cool story bro.
May want to change the title so the rest of the country doesn't read the thread.
I'm going to try out that app as I'm curious to my local coverage, thanks

Yea, I was hoping that at least one person would find it useful. I've been watching the map ever since I downloaded the app. The closest 4G was about 40 minutes south of me for the longest. I was beginning to wonder when they were going to reach us. Glad I could help.
