[Q][SOLVED] Hard Brick or Short Circuit? - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Today morning while going to my college i noticed that the phone seemed switched off. It was working fine and had just kept it in the pocket for a second.Upon removing it the mobile seemed switched off. I tried turning it on, but had no respite. even when kept for charging it doesn't show the "charging animation". Any suggestions?
P.S: Going to the service center will be my last resort if nothing works. :crying:
Was on a Remix 2.5 with Hells kernel if that helps(im sure it has nothing to do with this).

This happens mostly when Water has seeped into your device! I would suggest to keep it inside a box of rice for a day or two... If doesn't work then their are guides to recover from hard brick

It could also be a motherboard failure. My cousin's galaxy nexus also had a motherboard failure, you can even get it repaired, the only option is to get it replaced...

My phone is currently sitting in a bowl of rice =(

So i was playing table tennis earlier today .. when i stopped , i decided to check my messages on my phone , but it wasnt working . The phone itself worked allright , the controls too but the touchscreen wasnt working at all .
I googled and found that moisture can damage the digitizer... as a desperate attempt i filled a bowl with rice and dropped the phone right =(
God have mercy on my phone
By any chance, have you tried rebooting it before doing said steps?
Yes , i tried rebooting it like 10 times and doing a battery pull .
The touchscreen worked in the corners of the screen only , so it must be the moisture i think .
ive got some good news, near the beginging of augest i dropped my phone in a puddle, dried it out and everything but it didnt work, it took ages to turn on and touchscreen didnt work. no shops could fix it, so i left it on my windowsill and bought a blackberry, i tried it every week and it didnt work.
so the other day i decided to try it again just coz i can. (nearly 4months later) it works perfectly, i was so happy coz the xperia play is the only phone i really like.
so my adivce if it doesnt work anytime soon, if you really want this phone, just leave it for a while, you could get lucky like me!
My Play digitizer stopped working completely due to applying wet screen protector.
Then I put one my Nexus today. And it made to power button stop working, I had to open it to dry it. Guess I didn't learn the lesson the first time.

Be careful throwing your Note on the floor !

Being on xxlsc since two weeks without a problem, today was my turn of good luck.
I picked up my phone and forgot it was on the charger.
It got ripped out of my hand and fell flat on the floor.
Instead of finding it the way it should be, It smiled back at me with the Galaxy Note N7000 boot logo....
I tried to turn it off, but It wouldn't, it just went black for a few seconds and then came back in the same state. So I booted into cwm and chose for Turn power off.
This worked. So when I switched it back on a few seconds later, it went into boot animation and then froze....Turning off got me the same state as before, it smiled back at me with it's useless boot logo.
Repeated my earlier steps, same result.
Then I noticed with the device being shut down, pushing the home button didn't show up the battery state as it usually does. Neither did a quick touch of the powerbutton....
I didn't feel like to wipe and setup the phone again, so I plugged in the charger to see if that at least would function normally....
Plugging the phone in, without touching anything else made the phone come up in the middle of the boot animation, then it booted....
However I lost all account settings. Google account and email account info was completely wiped...
I entered those manually and all is working back.
So just a long story to share my experience, and maybe it might help someone someday finding himself in a similar situation...
Thanks a lot mate.
BTW
Is it just me with ZERO drops in 11 months ?

Ive lost count of how many times ive dropped my note, Luckily its always been on something soft and nothing has broke, although one time it dropped from the top of the stairs to the bottom (it was my GFs fault for trying to rugby tackle me on the stairs)
But its bizzare how a drop has cause the phone to reset certain things ! i wonder what went on inside the phone for this to happen ?
My Notes in the repair centre at the moment after the USB port broke I hope it survives cause im missing it like hell!
The weird thing is that only some settings got messed up.
like the accounts info
the screen timeout went back to 30 seconds (had it set at 2 min)
but things like wifi info and dominant hand for spen and ink color for lock screen all remained....
Hmm this is the first time I heard that dropping phone can cause an account deleted :/ I've dropped my phone many times but none of them causing an error :silly:

Today I dropped my phone too... Directly out of my hands straight to the asphalt of the bus stop. Luckily nothing bad happens. The edge at the top left cracked a little bit, there are also some scratches at the back cover but the display looks fine. Thanks god, everything is still working

Its just that I quit alcohol :silly:
I am not overly obsessive with it. There's a tiny scratch on the screen and countless scratches on the back cover.
Oh men! Don't say to me that, I was traying to teach my note how to jump!
Amnesia ?
I have had my Note 9 months now and never dropped it. It has a back protective cover but I got annoyed of screen protectors so got rid of them a long time ago.
My Note is 99.9% as new as the first day I opened it

Just had the exact issue as the OP, I had the phone fall from the side of the bed to the floor, I have a rubber casing protecting the phone,
when I picked up the phone it was stuck on the Samsung logo, pulled the battery for couple minutes and then the phone booted only to reset again and this time got stuck on logo.
I was lucky I had a backup, I was able to restore cwm backup and all went well for couple days, yesterday I took a 1 minute video and when I clicked on the review to watch the video, the phone restarted on its own and got stuck on Samsung logo. so I had to restore the backup again.
I am on LSC, I read in previous comments that it is a known issue, can someone explain how ICS is different to JB when you drop the phone??
phone been working perfectly for me since the LSC dump has been available.

It's to do with the power been cut. People have reported getting stuck at boot just from rebooting, others after removing the battery. I've experienced it on LSC ROMs only. So if you don't reboot much and then drop your phone causing a blip in power you might get stuck at boot.

I've successful recovered from this bug a few times, very quickly without loosing any data using this method:
1. Boot into recovery
2. Create a full backup
3. Perform full wipe + format system and preload
4. Flash a ROM you normally use
5. Let phone boot and go through initial setup process
6. Reboot into recovery
7. Restore the backup created in step 2 WITHOUT any wipes
8. Reboot the phone
This process takes around . 30min and there is no loss of data.

Nexus 4 won't boot. Red LED Flashing

I was playing around with my Nexus 4. It fell in a glass of water. I took it out within 2 seconds. Phone booted up and worked fine except Camera and the earpiece. Those started to work fine after around 5 hrs automatically. I flashed Stock Android 4.2.2 via Fastboot after everything was working fine. It failed while flashing bootloader and then the phone went completely blank. I did 30 mins of work and google search and I was trying all sorts of combinations and the phone booted by luck. After then it went in Blank many times showing *white* LED. I was always able to take it out of that by some combinations. Now the phone got stuck in bootloop. I switched off the phone and plugged it for charging. It charged upto 100%. My mom took my phone and locked in the cupboard (due to exams) I got it today (after 2 days) and when I try to boot then it just shows *Red* LED for some time and then goes off. If I plug it to a wall charger then the Red LED lasts merely a second.
Please help me guys.

Take out the battery and reinsert it,i have seen people complaining of red blinking led issue, but in their case, the phone shut down due to 0 battery, and when try to turn on by connecting wall charger, the issue showed up.If there's a possibility that the phone got completely discharged in cupboard(due to low or no signal),then that might be ur issue as well.

I am afraid taking out the battery. What if voided the phone ?
If the phone has been water damaged, warranty won't help you anyway so you haven't got anything to lose! Just a reminder, if you drop your phone in water, turn it off (take out the battery if possible) and put it in a bowl of rice for 12-48 hours to help dry it out, do not turn it on before then!

I have a complete set of screw drivers. None worked on the Nexus 4 :/
Similar
Dropped phone in toilet. 2 seconds max. Didnt have luxery of a torque screw or pop open capabilities threw the N4 in bag of rice. 4 days later. it turns on and the screen looks fine, but auto shut down right when main screen loads. Checked for water damage on the inside: void stickers were pink, but phone seemed fine and no sign of water damage, until I took out the battery. it looked a bit damaged. I replaced it today and I am still getting the same issue. Right when I am taken past the Cyanogenmod loading screen, the main page loads and says "shutting off" or "powering down" whatever it says. The battery seems to always be between 16-18% also. Anyone ran into a situation like this or have any suggestions? please!!!! thanks!

[Q] Nexus 4 Broken LED Flash... Fix?

Hey guys,
A few weeks ago, my Nexus 4 went through the wash and in a moment of stupidity, I decided to take it to a cellular repair shop. When I got it back, they said it was broken, but with a new battery I managed to fix it. The problem is, the LED Flash looks to have been removed along with the puffy white part around it. Is there any way to fix this short of getting a new motherboard, because other than this the phone works fine. Thanks,
Attached are some before and after shots of the motherboard.

If it's only the LED light that is broken then just use it as is. The phone still works at most. Next time when a phone goes through hell in water, bury it under rice for a few days and let it do it's work.

[Q] Galaxy S4 completely dead?

The Galaxy S4 of a friend of mine fell some time ago, but still worked perfectly after the drop.
After a few days the phone died.
The S4 doesn't boot and doesn't show charging logo when connected to power.
I also tried putting another battery in it and I checked the insides. (nothing out of the ordinary)
Does someone know what's wrong with the phone or what steps I can take?

Mine dropped twice already , once accidently while taking it out from my pucket while drunk and the next time falling from a table, no issue till now, guess was lucky
Any ways unless it doesn't get wet its possible to fix if u take it to the right place or u may get a replacment if there are no sign for an impact or havey scratch and u have valid warranty good luck
