With the red light of dead the phone isn't booting at all, so no. Are you running Semaphore kernel? With semaphore kernel the led turns red when phone gets hot, and it can be disabled using semaphore manager app.

Or perhaps you have a LED notification system and you have a missed call or the like
All I needed to do was switch the kernel, I also have another question to ask and I'll ask it here so I don't have to make another thread.
How come my phone gets hot sometimes while charging?

Its normal for this BEAST with this configuration.. 40 degree is normal. Even my phone gets heated while charging or long hours surfing on net. relax.

The more you use the battery, be it discharging or charging, the hotter it's going to get, some kernels actually have a shutdown mechanism if it gets to something like 80C (176F or so) which personally to me seems insane, but considering that 40C (~104F) is actually normal and cool compared to computers I guess it's not all that surprising.

sometimes when I charge my phone I get a flashing amber light even when the unit is switched off. Does anyone know what this indicates? I thought constant green indicates charged, is the amber light used to indicate a temp problem as my battery seems to get very warm during charging?

Getting warm during charging is normal.
Not sure what flashing amber indicates , though seems to be an indication of text receipt/missed call (whether on charge or not)
Amber=Charging Green=Charged Red=Charge Failure

Means NOTIFICATION
It occurs even when the phone is fully switched off. It does seem to relate to the temperature during charging, I would guess that it indicates that charging is paused due to the battery temp.
I used to have this when I first got my Vario II. It was definitely temperature related and had nothing to do with notifications as there were none.
The only way to get around it was to take it off charge and take the battery cover off to let the heat escape for it to cool down. Then it would start charging again normally.

I agree, it means message/email/calendar/alarm/task during charging and could mean also overheat
So it means NOTIFICATION (or pay ATTENTION please) , it has a big CPU still isn't capable to explain exactly what type of attention is needed
How hot is normal running temp for the battery?
I see mine runs at around 46 celcius most of the time.
What is too hot?
Before booting. My tablet was dead for a long time. And now I plugged it in and the power turns orange then blinks white? Anyone know what that means?

I've always wondering about the various power button light colors as I cannot find any consistency, and the manual doesn't give any explanation about the different modes. When not on the charger, I only seem to get a blinking white light when there is some sort of notification. On the charger, I think I've see a blinking orange, blinking white, and solid orange states. No clue to any of the reasons for the different states.
Tbh, it should stay orange when it's charging. So it sounds like there's a problem with charging, either because your charger is busted or your battery is.

This is correct.
When its off no light the device is on
When its white the tab is sleeping
Blinking white its sleeping but a app is awake using network(white blinking network use)
Orange blinking is charging.
If its flashing red green and blue. RUN ITS A BOMB.Teasing
This is in the PDF you can d/load from acer website.
If im wrong I know its close thanks for reading.

What page of the PDF does it explain this? I looked it over and cannot find an explanation on the light colors. The one I got from the site is User Manual_Acer_1.0_A_A.pdf

I will have to look. Its in the repair manual.I think I got it from a thread here actually come think about it.if I can find the file ill post it
here is what mine does,
when it stays red or orange it charges
when it blinks orange it doesnt charge becuase i leave it there for like an hour and the percentage is still the same
and when not plugged in it does the white light and is all good
so i have no idea what to do
Mine does orange when charging, white when done charging, occasionally white when asleep and off when using.
Just done some testing with different adapters.
Orange not blinking when charging correctly = adapter OK (enough tension and amps)
If adapter is too small (less than 12v or can't output 1.5amps), then it blinks orange.
My notification light is alternating between green and orange and I have no clue why..
My battery is low but it should just blink orange for that.
I've done some research and they sat the battery is overheating, the battery is not hot at all so I'm doubting that is the issue.
I'm running ICS currently.
any ideas of what this is.
Also, I can check to see if it's a notification as the LCD is busted until I get it fixed, it's just driving me nuts.
Most probably you have a notification so the LED alternates between red for low battery and green for the notification. It's what it does on mine and I'm on ICS also (I2IEAILiiTY's hybrid)

I bought a replacement battery (not original) and everytime I try charging it the
LED start flashing form green to orange and putting back the old original battery
charges just fine. How do I reset or make it charge it?
Since this morning my notification light is stuck in solid green. I did not install any new apps, rebooting did not fix it. I even powered off the phone and the light remained on. Only removing the battery turns the green led off but as soon as I put the battery back the LED turns back on to green, even without starting the phone again.
Is it me or does this sound like a hardware fault...?
I have a I9505 running stock XXUDMH8, TPH csc. I am not rooted or in any way running a modified system. I have no apps dedicated to overriding LED settings installed.
Any ideas on what to try?
Thanks.
Try a factory reset from settings... but u will loose app data...

As the led stays on even with the phone off, do you believe this will help?
I am not rooted so doing a factory reset is a major thing as I have no backups.

I did a factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. My notification LED is still stuck in green. I guess it's off to warranty.... Not happy.

Yes, the LED stays on with the phone powered off. If I remove the battery the LED quickly fades away but starts back on as soon as I put the battery back in place.

Seems like a problem with the hardware. You need to return it back and most probably warranty will cover it... Try also to disable the notification led from the settings...
I have almost exactly the same problem. Today I left the phone charging overnight and in the morning the notification LED was bright blue. It stayed this way after I opened and read all texts and mails, it stayed regardless if the screen was on or off, it even stayed when I turned the phone off(!) and I only managed to put it out by pulling the battery - however it went back on immediately after replacing the battery. I turned off all notifications in settings, made sure I have plenty of free memory and card space etc. etc. The only thing I managed to do was to make it dim blue instead of bright blue after shutting down and booting up again. Now it lurks in the darkness, occasionally flashing, but mostly just glowing in blue.
The only ideas that I have left:
- some app update brought an unsolicited feature, but how to check it w/o wiping up everything? and how the hell does it stay lit after turning off the phone anyway?
- something went bad when charging - but these phones are supposed to have some protections from overcharging, so it shouldn't be a problem if it stays connected at 100%, right? besides, the phone works perfectly normal otherwise.
- I'm using an s-view cover, maybe it has something to do with it? I tried removing it to no avail - but maybe the magnets embedded in the cover contributed over time to the now-observed led malfunction?
@AlexandreT - do you use S-view? from what I understand, your problem also occurred after charging - did the phone stay on charger for long, eg. overnight? maybe you managed to solve the problem since?

I don't use S-view. The problem occurred after charging overnight. It was solved by replacing the whole motherboard under warranty.
Sorry for the late answer.

Hello i have problems in screen after charging. I noticed after charging, the sides of the screen had yellowish green tinge. After hours, it disappears and when i charge the phone again it reappears. Someone help me. Or does somebody experienced this issue?
P.S. no issues on screen responsiveness. Just the yellowish green tinge after charging.
Thank you for help.

Does it go away immediately if you reboot?
It does not. I also noticed when the background is black or green, the green tinge disappears. But when other colors are in the background, it appears. Do u think lcd has the problem?

Hello. As of now the green tinge is gone. I tried to take a photo but the green tinge is not noticeable. Can you tell me your idea? Thank you in advance.
Is it temperature-related?
Sounds to me like the glue holding the screen layers is loose, allowing the layers to become separated when the heat from charging expands one layer more than the other.
Do you fast charge? Try charging with a slow charger (it creates less heat) and if then the problem goes away, or is much less noticeable, I would try to RMA the device.

No sir. It did not heat much when charging. I tried lg charger they provided in the box and the green tinge appeared. But when i tried samsung fast charger green tinge DOES not appear. Their charging time was same (1hr 20mins). I just assume that the charger had the problem tho.

Well, this is strange since if both chargers fast charge, they should raise the temperature at the same level. And I can't think of any other reason other than temperature why you would see the yellow tinge.
Just to explain myself, I don't think the phone is overheating more than it should, I thought the screen was faulty.
Can't help why more than this, I'm glad you found a "fix".

Its strange for me too since they are both fast charge. And i used ampere app, they both max 2400mAh when charging (both samsung and lg) and fill the juice up for same time. Thanks for the help man. Im going to try other fast charger if they produce that annoying green tinge. But as of now, im using the samsung charger. So far, it does not produce any green tinge.
