(Q)What does the Blinking power button mean? - Acer Iconia A500

Before booting. My tablet was dead for a long time. And now I plugged it in and the power turns orange then blinks white? Anyone know what that means?

I left it like that all night and when I tried to turn it on it just goes to the acer screen for 10 seconds then goes blank

I've always wondering about the various power button light colors as I cannot find any consistency, and the manual doesn't give any explanation about the different modes. When not on the charger, I only seem to get a blinking white light when there is some sort of notification. On the charger, I think I've see a blinking orange, blinking white, and solid orange states. No clue to any of the reasons for the different states.

Tbh, it should stay orange when it's charging. So it sounds like there's a problem with charging, either because your charger is busted or your battery is.

This is correct.
When its off no light the device is on
When its white the tab is sleeping
Blinking white its sleeping but a app is awake using network(white blinking network use)
Orange blinking is charging.
If its flashing red green and blue. RUN ITS A BOMB.Teasing
This is in the PDF you can d/load from acer website.
If im wrong I know its close thanks for reading.

I just tried booting into recovery and it did the text at the top then gave me an android guy with the exclamation mark inside him

Not sure what you mean by the above.if you have default recovery and no update.zip on your sd card this is totally normal.nothing thee to flash.

What page of the PDF does it explain this? I looked it over and cannot find an explanation on the light colors. The one I got from the site is User Manual_Acer_1.0_A_A.pdf

I will have to look. Its in the repair manual.I think I got it from a thread here actually come think about it.if I can find the file ill post it

here is what mine does,
when it stays red or orange it charges
when it blinks orange it doesnt charge becuase i leave it there for like an hour and the percentage is still the same
and when not plugged in it does the white light and is all good
so i have no idea what to do

Mine does orange when charging, white when done charging, occasionally white when asleep and off when using.

Just done some testing with different adapters.
Orange not blinking when charging correctly = adapter OK (enough tension and amps)
If adapter is too small (less than 12v or can't output 1.5amps), then it blinks orange.

Trouble Shooting my Nexus One Issue?

I just picked up a Nexus One in Mint shape. Not a scratch on it anywhere def. has not been dropped in or exposed to water at all I know what to look for. It does respond but I get nothing but lights. Please have a look at my plug in results as listed and give me some input.
1. When I plugged it in last night I got a orange light in the earpiece screen.
2. Today when plugged into the wall or my computer I get a solid green light on the status led.
3. If I pull the battery and plug it in I get a quick orange followed by a quick green light.
The battery also does not get warm nor does it show signs of swelling. I'm trying to narrow it down to a bad logic board or Amoled/super lcd? Normally with a bad lcd in other phones you'll get a back light of sorts where in bright light you can still see the images. Possibly this isn't a characteristic of these. Also if I plug in this device or hold down the power button would it not automatically turn on. If so wouldn't I hear the boot screen or process and wouldn't it vibrate? I've never owned one so I'm not sure.
Nevermind I was told on Nexus forum to go with the old batt pull and it booted. Now onto the research for the cure.
That is the charging light. Green is full , the other color is for charging.

Docking station led lights?

I notice that the led light never turns on until its blinking orange. Is that a known issue?

Mine goes blinking orange to solid orange, and then eventually green.
the LED only turns on when charging and changes from orange to green when it's charged 100%. It flashes orange when the dock battery is below 15%, whether or not it's plugged in. (or is it 10%?) The white LED on top is for Caps Lock.

Blinking orange and green led?

My notification light is alternating between green and orange and I have no clue why..
My battery is low but it should just blink orange for that.
I've done some research and they sat the battery is overheating, the battery is not hot at all so I'm doubting that is the issue.
I'm running ICS currently.
any ideas of what this is.
Also, I can check to see if it's a notification as the LCD is busted until I get it fixed, it's just driving me nuts.
Most probably you have a notification so the LED alternates between red for low battery and green for the notification. It's what it does on mine and I'm on ICS also (I2IEAILiiTY's hybrid)

Don't know if you want to do this, but you can open the phone and disconnect and reconnect the battery connector...
What was your battery level, I know in other devices some times the CPU(s) run at full speed in recovery allowing for quicker flashing this could discharge the battery rapidly. Also a flashing red LED when plugged in normally means the phone is charging but doesn't have enough charge to reliably turn on, leave it plugged in for about 15 minutes and try turning it on again.
Try holding down the VOL + and - keys along with the powerbutton (after turning it off by holding down the power button for an extended time) and see if you can get into fastboot. My friend's Nexus 4 kept bootlooping after he unlocked the bootloader but booted straight to CWM after, not letting it erase userdata first.

I have no problem doing this, the phone seems easy to disassemble, looks alot like a overgrown iPhone 4, 2 screws on the bottom. I just hope its an easy slide, I don;t want to mar it in case I have to exchange it.

I thought this as well, its been plugged in for at least an hour now.
Oh and now I don't even get the red led!
good times..
I've got the exact same issue. Plugged it in last night to charge and this morning it wouldn't turn on. Plugged and unplugged it and the red LED starts flashing. After a minute or so I'm getting the battery charge animation on the screen - so the red LED is power related. Now to see if it actually charges up and boots.
Hi nycbjr. I have seen a similar issue posted here, but I can't find the thread at the moment, try searching. If I remember correctly then he got it working by holding power, volume keys and then plugging in the charger.

[Q] Red light?

I have this red light that only appears on my screen when its on, but when screen's off it disappears, is this the red light of death?

With the red light of dead the phone isn't booting at all, so no. Are you running Semaphore kernel? With semaphore kernel the led turns red when phone gets hot, and it can be disabled using semaphore manager app.

Or perhaps you have a LED notification system and you have a missed call or the like
All I needed to do was switch the kernel, I also have another question to ask and I'll ask it here so I don't have to make another thread.
How come my phone gets hot sometimes while charging?

Its normal for this BEAST with this configuration.. 40 degree is normal. Even my phone gets heated while charging or long hours surfing on net. relax.

The more you use the battery, be it discharging or charging, the hotter it's going to get, some kernels actually have a shutdown mechanism if it gets to something like 80C (176F or so) which personally to me seems insane, but considering that 40C (~104F) is actually normal and cool compared to computers I guess it's not all that surprising.
