If you are frustrated seeing the ugly international data icons as I was, use the following guide to change your CID after you have performed S-OFF. I changed second one to the at&t CID ( CWS__001 ) and this not only gave me back the stock at&t data icons but it fixed my signal issues as well. Now, my phone shows the correct signal (bars) instead of reading lower than what it actually is (was only showing one bar most of the time!) Also the "4G LTE" is always showing (i.e. even when I am connected to WiFi) like it did on stock. Happy camper here!
I used the script for the for CID write and then used CWS__001 for the manual mod to CID instead of 1111111.

I was having same issues on AT&T edition - couldn't send or receive sms. Just changed my CID back to the AT&T one mentioned above and all is well again.

Hex edit for data icons is risky business. changing the wrong thing, just 1 digit by accident can brick you. Flash-able icon zip is way safer The hex edited CID isnt even needed for OTA's, i just did a dev OTA while the hex edit cid was ATT CWS__001. The only advantage to the hex edit is signal icons.. Just be VERY CAREFUL when you do it if you want different icons so bad.. VERY careful :good:
SuperCID is not the cause of your problems, it's the process linked asking to hex edit mmcblk0p19. You don't need to hex edit edit and write an entire partition to get SuperCID and change icons. Once you have S-OFF you can reboot to fastboot and use this command: fastboot oem writecid 11111111. You can change the signal strength icons by editing the ROM.
I have an AT&T 64GB model which is S-OFF with SuperCID and I have no issues with the ability to send/receive SMS or MMS. On the subject of signal strength, don't trust "bars". In the phone dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* and go to the Phone Info menu. Look at the signal strength there for an accurate reading.

Yeah, I hit the wrong quote button. Meant to quote aimfire72 initially :silly: I've been through quite a few of the partitions in a hex editor over the past month and there are several mentions of the CID on different partitions. I don't think the hex edit instructions should have been posted outside of a dev only IRC channel or restricted forum.

Agreed, Changing that cid (hex edit) doesnt help anything. OTA's can be done without it, Ruu's also. Originaly i thought you had to change the 2nd cid for different signal icons in 4.2.2 but you can change the fastboot cid and get the icons you want also, see below.

Better yet you can change that cid from 11111111 to whatever carriers icons you want I'm on ATT with ATT icons using 4.2.2, changed cid from 11111111 to fastboot oem writecid BS_US001 (dev edition) and icons changed to international style at reboot. Changing it to tmobile CID gives me tmobile icons. Seems the rom checks fastboot cid first for signal icons, if supercid, it moves on to the 2nd cid for the signal icons.
the initial issue for me and many others in every ROM thread for the one was getting rid of those ugly ***** international data icons. this has been an issue for months now. no one including the two of you chimed in to help in any way. miraculously tho, now, both of you chime in (one of you on two different threads) to "warn me" and others. we could have used your help a long time ago where it really mattered. as for the risks you keep mentioning... everything here is a risk after S-OFF so it is what it is. personally, I'm comfortable with all the tools available here. I may not be a "recognized developer," but I can assure you that I have owned and modded more phones in the last 5 years than the two of you combined have in the last 5 years. a general rule of thumb to anyone that everyone is already familiar with: if you don't know or understand what you are doing and cannot handle the potentially negative outcome mentally, physically, or financially, LEAVE IT ALONE!! No one here needs a baby sitter trollin threads tho.

I never touched any of the hex edit stuff, I literally had sms issues on att after changing to SuperCID in fastboot. Changing back to stock att cid fixed it, go figure.

That`s a very good observation mate, so now it`s pretty clear why there is a 2nd CID info in blk19.

i wonder if HTC realized people on AT&T have some issues with dormancy . with INT configs. or if its more of a control issue for tethering
does this "fix" the 300kb max MMS limit?
edit: no it doesnt, just tried.
Also anyway to get rid of the 4G LTE icon from showing up when Wifi is on? thats annoying

im not worried about bars so much. but i did lose signal in places i usually dont when i am on at&t rom. but as far as the stalling issue. i think is related to dormancy. is changes from 3g to H to 3g H and takes quite a bit of time for internet data to kick in, i dont have LTE so i cant speak for that
I have two AT&T Ones and changed the CID on both (both fastboot and mmcblk0p19) and have no problems with calls or texts. Also I actually prefer the int icons. Having the 4G visible when wifi was on annoyed the crap out of me.

I'm only trying to help. As far as warning earlier, it wasnt known earlier!! There is absolutely NO REASON to hex edit, even for icons. They can be obtained by fastboot oem writecid.
I dont understand how someone can be such a douche when i was only trying to keep people from bricking for no reason..
Show me 1 advantage to the hex edit method... I can do everything you can do with the first cid method, the real true cid method that has worked for ages.
the international data icons just make me feel like I regressed back to this and I'll pass!! lmao

Ok, so I've just updated my Rogers HTC Magic to with Rogers new update:
HTC_Magic_Update_File1
HTC_Magic_Update_File2
I'd just like to let everyone know that it's absolutely beautifu and so fastl!!!
Runs faster than any hero based ROM on XDA or on any other forum (no offence devs but thanks for your efforts).
My new radio and hboot are as follows:
HBoot - 1.76.0010
Radio - 6.35.10.18
Not quite sure what this means as far as rooting the phone and any development goes, but in general I am quite happy with this update. I will be posting some screen shots in a short time as I have just done the update and need to get everything sorted out. If you have any questions feel free to ask

HBoot - 1.76.0010
Radio - 6.35.10.18
I have done the update as well and am VERY happy with the new UI (Sence) on my Magic.....Reminds me a bit of my old HTC Touch Diamond....just better cuz it NOT Windows
You are both making me want to take the update, but am hesistant as I'm on Fido, with a rooted phone... plus i don't feel like loosing all my data etc. also don't know what are the implications from this update in terms of future upgrades etc.
any updates from you guys in terms of usability or other issues/etc.
So just to confirm, because I'm a little slow...
If I install this update I will lose root, all my data and paid apps, and I will not be able to get them back because I also won't be able to run "backup for root users"?

Correct. But as for paid apps I'm unsure of the results as I didn't have any to begin with. As far as root goes, I'm trying to figure out a way to root the phone as the current methods are out dated for this update. I still have all my data on the sdcard, pictures, videos etc.. so you should be able to keep all of your paid apps. It's basically a matter of time before someone finds a way to root our phones but I'm sure it won't be long.
The new Sense UI is the fastest I have ever seen (and I've tried all of them). There is some issue with sending emails, as I haven't been able to send an email as of yet. I will be calling Rogers today to get this issue sorted out.

I'ved used the cursorsense and it isn't bad at all. Still nothing compares to how fast this Sense UI runs from Rogers. There is zero lag, and when I say that I mean it. For example when running the Sense stock Music App there is always lag, it doesn't matter who's ROM your using but with this update the Sense Music App works to the millisecond. There is no lag at all on this update so basically you can't compare it to anyone's ROM. All of those ROM's were ported as opposed to this one being built specifically for the Magic from the ground up. But like I said in an earlier post, I am still having problems being able to send emails through the stock app using my Hotmail account. I called Rogers today and they told me that they will fix this problem. I told them that if it's not fixed within the next 2 weeks (which is a reasonable time to wait) that I would be able to get a free upgrade on the next phone of my choice, which they had agreed to. If you haven't updated your ROM and your using a Rogers Magic/Dream I would highly recommend it. They get a 8.5/10 as far as the update goes. I would give them a 10 if my emails weren't giving me a problem and if it was upgraded to version 2.0+ but I guess we can't have it all . Oh and by the way it seems as tho the RAM has somehow been decreased? It was 196 prior to the update and now it's stitting at 165! If anyone knows why this happened please feel free to let us know.

I am downloading this new ROM at this moment...and hesitate to update my rom. cuz I am also concerning about losing all my data and the ROM I am using... it's a CM 4.2.13. and I am very happy with it so far, even the camera function is kind of cooking.

new rogers/HTC ROM feedback
So hesitantly i finally gave in and upgraded. Thought i would share my experience. I have win7 and called rogers, even though I am on Fido. he sent me the email with the link to 2 files. I followed the instructions, didn't format my SD, copied the first file and the first file installed, and then rebooted... and rebooted... and rebooted... you get the picture. So i pulled the SD card out as it continued to reboot, deleted the first file (using a card reader built into the laptop) and then loaded on the second file. Put the SD back in the magic... its still rebooting... so i pulled the battery, put it back in, did the volume down and power, installed the second file rebooted, and everything was cool. System came up and all was good.
Issues I have with the new ROM:
shows me as roaming (when i called rogers to tell them, he said it is the first he has heard of it)
the weather has preset canandian cities which cannot be deleted (delete is greyed out as is the add button, so i can't add any cities either)
because it is roaming, i have to enable allow roaming data, for data to work
this doesn't have the voice search... even though i never really used it, it was definitely a cool feature to have.
overall, it seems only slightly faster... to be honest, i don't notice a speed difference... however, what i noticed is that the typing sensitivity seems to be better in the sense that my typing has become more accurate (and my fingers didn't lose any weight in the 20 minutes i took to do this update )
hope this is of benefit for others. If anyone has any feedback on any of the issues i listed, i would love to hear about it.

Remember, contacts are synced to Google, so you don't loose those. This includes contact photos if you're like me and want them on each and every contact. Also, paid apps are remembered by the Android Market, so if you wipe your phone, you can quickly and easily reinstall your paid apps, without having to pay for them again.
As far as camera photos and music; that's on your SD card. Just copy it all to your PC before flashing the update.
Text messages.... http://www . androlib . com/android.application.com-riteshsahu-smsbackuprestore-zCEB.aspx <-- That program worked well for me. Should run w/out root access. Only downside is that it doesn't do MMS messages.
Things like savegames and other application data (bookmarks, preferences)..... Yeah, those are going to be lost, unfortunately. :\

This is what I am interested in.
I have a UK Voda Magic 32B, and wondered whether the Rogers update could/should be used.
I'm not rooted and running Donut 1.6 at present.
Aware this is a N00b question, but think that there are probably others who are wondering what I am...

Ok, so after using Energy ROMs since this phone came out everything worked pretty decently. Recently, I can not get weather in 3G. I read in another thread that T=Mobile is blocking it? Will there be any way around this?
I might go back to stock : (
I have always really hated this phone. I want a full Android solution but I just bought a car.
When using my HD2 I noticed when tethered to my laptop my OpenVPN software sometimes acts as if its blocked. There are other strange internet discrepancies as well so blocking is possible.
The weather on certain roms when using My Location doesnt work. If you add your location manually then I am betting it works. For example on Miri's Rom I noticed Burbank, CA cannot be detected whereas Palmdale, CA will be detected. If I add Burbank manually without using My Location then I get the data. Kwbr's Rom it detects burbank so I am not sure if there is weather databases missing from certain roms?

Curious... your statement is that T-Mobile is blocking data... and you're hating on the HD2??
Data is Data.... if your statement that T-Mobile is blocking the data is true... then it wouldn't matter WHAT phone you were on... Android, WinMo, BB, ect... that data would be blocked...
The HD2 is a wonderful phone... is it perfect? by no means... but which phone is???
all that being said... I've been running the latest Energy ROM and have not had ANY issues with Weather updates... so a few questions:
what build are you running?
what radio?
have you tried a different build &/or Radio?
results?
it's pretty much a given that a stock build will be pretty stable VS a custom build... but the downside is that you lose the cutting edge stuff that is available in the customs. If a specific build/ROM is giving you issues... try a different one and see if the situation improves.
Also... make sure you are using Task29 before you flash... so you don't have residual bugs that could creep in from an old flash.
if you're issues are connection related, try a different radio... see if that solves your issue...
and welcome to the wonderful world of Customizing Electronics! regardless of WHAT you're customizing... there will be bugs... no platform/device is immune
All my info in my signatre is up to date and accurate. I can no longer get weather updates when I am in 3g or better. Its strange. I also cant update Facebook news feed unless I log out and log back in. I am by no means a developer but I have flashed dozens of ROMs and tested almost all Android builds on ths phone. I am very technically inclined and have donated to the Energy developer for his hard work. Every time I flash i do Task29, radio, ROM, then reset. I even tried factory reset this time becauseI never had to try that in the past. there is a legitimate issue and someone specifically did mention that TMO is now blocking certain data. maybe i took this wrong but i figured that they finally figured out how to block users with HSPL users from certain content.
oh btw ryan. when tjis phone came out, Hspl ROMS were way more stable then stock TMO stuff. this phone is just awful. its not the devs fault. its not the hardware. its microsoft. for instance, how many clicks or taps do i need to get 1 stinkin email? like 5! that is so annoying pardon spelling and grammar. im posting from the phone. and everytime i hit space i hit the on screen keyboard buttonand the keya dissappear grrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, like I said... I'm running the latest Energy build (Oct. 8 21681) which means I've got HSPL, and I'm running the recent radio (2.15.50.14) and I haven't had any issue what-so-ever with Data.
I HIGHLY DOUBT TMO is blocking based on HSPL. How could they tell based wireless traffic besides... the only things i've been reading regarding TMO blocking anything have been in regards to text messages.... there is a Data Throttling change coming soon... after 5GB your data connection will be slower till next billing cycle... but that is by no means a block.
As for the rest of your statement.... I only need 1 click for email... don't know WTF you're doing if you need 5 lol
I have NO issues with Microsoft... yes, WinMo6x is an old OS... but it is also the most customizable.... Look at all the UI mods available, all the different themes.... Android, iOS, BB none of those have that... Android is a great OS, but it has it querks too.
Not saying these things to talk you into keeping your phone... hell... I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would be willing to take it off your hands for you ;p

Well, like I said... I'm running the latest Energy build (Oct. 8 21681) which means I've got HSPL, and I'm running the recent radio (2.15.50.14) and I haven't had any issue what-so-ever with Data.
I HIGHLY DOUBT TMO is blocking based on HSPL. so wait...when you click on an email mssg you don have to tap "Get the rest of this message?" Than you have to wait for it to DL. Then if there are pictures, you have to tap to DL pics. Then you have to confirm that you want to DL pics. Then you have to tap to scroll to the right. AWEFUL!
I didnt notice the new radio that came out. I thought that we could only use radios that end in _2 in the USA with TMO?
We will see what happens with the latest updates. God I want a phone that works.

TMO radios have to be X.X.50.X
The first stickied thread here is regarding TMO radios
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=669733
as for your email issues.... wonder if there are REG entry settings that could adjust it?... will do some digging
Found a thread on the Touch pro section regarding this....
The following settings make it to where, once you download an image the first time, on an email it will not require you to download it again.
Create the following DWORD keys,
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
"BlockExternalContent" with a value of 0
"LoadExternalImages" with a value of 1
"AutomaticallyInlineImages" with a value of 1
still looking for some REG setting that will disable the option outright... but this is a step in the right direction.
I also found a setting in the REG for email trunation... if you want that
TMO does block certain ports and can keep certain programs from working correctly or at all, when tethered.
An example I have faced is using Yahoo Messenger on my laptop while tethered. Skype seems to work for me in this case when I need to use a messaging program with webcam functionality.
THank you for your help. I like the REG item you posted.
OK, after the latest OTA I decided to jump in the pool and root my EVO. I did it using UNREVOKED.
I apologize for my rudimentary knowledge, but what do I do now? My goal was to get rid of the pre-installed programs, GENEROUSLY, placed on my phone by HTC and Sprint that I have NO intention of ever using (NASCAR app, NOVA game demo, Blockbuster App...etc. I don't wish to get rid of anything that could even remotely be considered necessary for the phone's function), if for no other reason than to keep my phone more "tidy".
Are there specific programs that will help me with this, or is this something I need to do on my own? I've noticed that I still don't have permission to uninstall things that came pre-installed or were subsequently given to me via OTA updates.
Thanks in advance for any and all input...
ok, i read the title, and i was going to give you a good -facepalm-, but it seems you had a reason for rooting. first, titianium backup is an insane tool that can uninstall ANYTHING and backup apps and their data. that is what you want.
second, root gives you an insane ability to change roms. a rom is the memory inside your phone. now with root and a custom recovery image, you can flash roms made by the insanely talented devs at the xda. may i reccomend myn's warm twopointtwo. you wont believe it is the same phone. like most other roms, myns has a bunch of tweaks already added, as well as almost all bloat apps removed.
if you need any other help, the evo irc is the best place to get it. just download an irc client app (on your computer) and browse it to irc.freenode.net in the room #htc-evo. everyone is helpful over there, including me (or so i like to think).
+1 for Titanium Backup. There is a free version but go ahead and go straight for the paid version, you'll use it often and be glad for the extra features.
Once you have it installed you can click on each app and "freeze" it (disables the app from running), "back it up" (just to be safe), and "remove" it (deletes it from the device).
There are other things you can do now that you are rooted, like install a custom ROM (e.g. specialized build of Android)... but I ended up just sticking with a stock ROM without the stock apps.
I would also recommend booting into recovery mode (power down, then hold the volume down and power buttons until you see the recovery screen) and using Nandroid to perform a full image of your phone. This way if you screw anything up you can just roll back to that image.
Long story short... rooting is whatever you make of it.
P.S. Don't apologize for the questions... I had the same questions you did. While the information exists here in XDA... it's not always easy to find.
both of you would be surprised on how great custom roms are. if i were you, i would try a few at the very least.
btw, the backup feature in titanium backup is for switching roms. it will backup all your apps and their data, and when you restore, add them back in and replace their market links.

I would tend to agree. Once you go to a non-stock rom, stock won't ever be able to do it for you again.
i would suggest you use the "sprint lover" rom to start... get your feet wet.
it is very close to stock... with some tweeks and extras...(like free wifi tethering)
one of the big ones... the bloatware on it are uninstallable like other apps you installed.
under appliction managment.. in the main settings.

Hey folks, does anyone have a resource where I can learn about managing my EVO to increase it's network connection speeds?
I'm rooted w/ RA recovery and stock ROM.
I have not yet flashed a new ROM because I am really trying to get the best speeds out of this phone and I have been searching XDA forums for the information to no avail.
Your insights are always appreciated, thanks for being the best EVO community on the net!

managing data connection not only requires hacking your phone and its radio partition, but it requires faking/hacking the network itself. this is dangerous and illegal. i would recommend ava's z1 rom. it has some nice data tweaks including auto roam and some other things. try myns.

When you say auto roam, does that mean it is running on Verizon's network?
I've read about the hack to force evo to run on Verizon's network but was unsuccessful in trying it.
there is a hack to force evo onto verizon's network but that isnt what i'm talking about. if you are under 2 (i think) bars it will automatically roam to verizon's towers. or something like that.

My office has a strange Sprint deadzone (right where my desk is of course) where I will dip to no bars. Occasionally it will jump over to Verizon (with a full 4 bars) and occasionally it will just sit there dead in the water with no connection.
There doesn't appear to be any pattern to when it roams and when it doesn't.

i would use ava z1 then. maybe theme it a bit. also try myns.
roaming on verizon...
there is that other shoe that might drop.
Roaming.. and data usage... there is a limit. I hear 250mb, then there might be additional charges.
high percentage of roaming over 90days.. they may cancel your contract and/or charge you for EFT. I hear it is 60% or more is where they start to look at your account.
yea i said it was dangerous. just saying the options. i didnt kno the details however.
Hboot 2.10 with unrevoked3 update
I just rooted my Evo 4g (Hboot 2.10) with the unrevoked3 update so I'm anxious to new ROMs but how do I know for sure when I will need to do any further flashing or downgrading of the kernel or PRI?
dkdude mentioned ava's and myn's ROMs are those good to go with my version? Right now I'm running MikFroYo and I like it but want to try different ROMs too.
New to rooting so I'm a lil nervous on this new investment of mine lol. Thanks for any advice guys.
yep ava is newest everything.
Hey, so this is my first post here and I'm looking forward to learning more about my phone and it's capabilities here. So far I've read through the forums multiple times and have seen a lot of different suggestions and information.
I've gotten a little confused, so I'm asking for some peoples' opinions on what route I should take to rooting my phone.
Basically, I have an HTC Evo running on android 2.2.
My baseband info is 2.15.00.11.19, and my software is 3.70.xxx.x
At the moment I just want to be able to root my phone so I can force roam and use the free wifi tethering.
I might run a custom rom if I need to, because I've heard that you can upgrade your radios, making 3g faster.
How should I go about rooting my phone and installing these roms if I choose to install them? I've read horror stories about people losing their rsa/wimax keys and being screwed for life. Do nandroid backups back these up as well, or would I need to do something special? The wimax/rsa keys are my main concern about rooting, because I would very much like to use 4G on my phone when I have the option to.
I've been recommended to try out one of the CM7 nightly builds by a friend and I know that it currently doesn't have 4G, at the moment, my area doesn't have 4G and I figure it by the time I get it, CM will have wimax support. If I did upgrade to a CM7 build though, would I be in danger of losing my RSA/wimax keys due to wimax not currently being supported by CM7, or are they kept in tact even though wimax isn't supported.
Thanks in advance for the help,
I'm kind of new here, so every bit helps
root with unrevoked, you will be fine.
use RA recovery to backup your wimax partition then save that in multiple places, dropbox, safes, every hard drive you own, email it to yourself etc, then you can use any recovery
cwm recovery backs up wimax now too but I'm biased to RA fwiw
cm7 nightlies have 4g now btw, upgrade to them when you feel like change, you dont need to change your rom if you dont want to
flashing a rom won't make you lose your keys, but keep the backup safe anyways
flashing is only hard the first few times then you get comfortable, dont become an addict like me, dont worry about ruining your phone, think happy thoughts
thanks for the advice. One question though, do nandroid backups keep wimax/rsa keys?
So instead of backing up the wimax/rsa individually, could I just do a nandroid backup and keep everything nice and safe as one big file?
If this is possible, is there a certain way that you have to do it?

With Amon Ra you can choose what your backups include. Wimax is one of the options. Most people just back it up once and save a copy somewhere off the phone rather than choosing to back it up every time. Not sure about clockwork, never used it.
You already have the latest radios. You can't upgrade any further or get more speed out of them.
Here is another recommendation for using unevoked to un root. It works flawlessly.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So I am a newbie to the HTC EVO and Android, but I have flashed WM ROM's on the HTC Touch Pro and even the HTC 6700 Brick. I've read all 184 pages of posts of xHausx [ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Universal Auto Root ~~~ v2.3 (works with all version)(2/13/11), ok so I skimmed some of the log files, but I did watch the youtube video three times.
So I decided to notify that developer I was about to run his script and list the various hardware and software versions and thank him for all his work, but this site REQUIRES 10 posts (no matter how inane those 10 post might be) as long as you wait 5 minutes between posts. I understand that you want to cut down on repeat questions, but surely there must be a better way to check for a minimum level of competence. Perhaps a quiz, where certain answers are in the various FAQ's.
All the current policy does is to encourage posting (10 to be exact) regardless of the quality of the content, the very behavior it is designed to reduce!

Ok people, after scrolling from forum to forum looking for a way to edit my build.prop for better data performance I've come to a couple of conclusions........The main one is that the majority of people end up bricking their phones. Either from being noobs or even a developer simply forgetting to change permissions. The other is that pretty much ALL of the lines people say to edit or even add just simply do not work. I'm posting a method I found in a forum,I can't remember which one but it's the one I use and have found to be the most helpful in getting a better signal.
You must be rooted!!!
First download an app from the play store called #SHORTCUT MASTER#
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
This app let's you access the G3's hidden hidden menu. You can scroll into numerous hidden folders and files. Some I wouldn't mess with!!! Open the app and go to the settings within the app. Click on "Secret Code Explorer". Scroll down until you see this folder below..........
""""33233323 com.lge.hiddenmenu .ErrFatalErrFatalBroadcastReciever""""" CLICK ON THIS!!!!
Scroll down until you pass a couple "Rat_Selection" folders. I believe you want the third but incase I have placed some screenshots below to help out. Rat_Selection let's you instantly switch from 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE depending on your coverage area. Not sure about which coverage area you are in? Here's another useful app that allows you to check ALL CARRIERS COVERAGE AND ALL NETWORK SPEEDS to help you get some Info about what speed you should switch to if any.
Download "Open Signal" from the play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal
Again check the screenshots if you don't believe me. This app is extremely useful!!! Ok so go ahead and finaggle with these two apps and see if it helps any of you and post some feedback. Good or Bad. Last but not least if you just want to edit your build.prop for whatever reasons here are a few lines I have added to mine just to see if they would help and as of right now I'm not sure if they helped but adding these lines did not brick my phone. Changed permissions rebooted and everything seems fine. As I said I'm not sure if they work but obviously doesn't hurt anything. As of now
ro.ril.gprsclass=34 ---- gprs (edge) speed settings
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28 ---- HSPA+ Download speed settings by category. Cat 28 is the highest
ro.ril.hsupa.category=7 ---- HSPA+ Upload speed settings by category. Cat 9 is highest, 7 seems to work just fine tho
ro.ril.hsxpa=5 ---- setting to enable hspa+ for the upload and download
#Better signal.
persist.cust.tel.eons=1
PS........
I know I said that changing or adding certain lines don't seem to work but I think "hypothetically" that if you switch to say,3G that maybe adding these lines could help with the DN and UP SPEEDS?? Not sure but just saying
FYI I'm not taking credit for anything just sharing what I've learned. These are not my own edits but found on different forums. If this is a repeat post just go ahead and delete. If this helps anyone please hit the thanks button, if not then please feel free to leave constructive criticism or just plain out bash me......
