I feel like that is way too big for a phone. A 5 inch screen is pushing it, but thanks to the lack of bezel on the ZL and Z, it seems like it would be manageable.
The entire point of a smartphone is to have a device you can easily take and remove from your pocket that can keep you connected and entertained.
A 6.44" phone would not fit in my pocket lol.

I agree about the whole point of a smartphone is to utilize the Internet everywhere you go but as well in my opinion most people want to see the internet on bigger screens so the lines between tablet and phones are blurring... I love the size my OG galaxy note and i think the 6.44 will be comparable due to using small or no bezel and no softkeys

Those specs are fake. I've said before why anything with 3GB of RAM is highly unlikely to be correct. Randomuser just heard those specs from someone on NeoGAF, and both that NeoGAF dude and Randomuser have been wrong before.
If the phablet becomes reality expect it to be very close to the Xperia Z in specs. The Xperia Z will be Sony's flagship this year if I understood everything correctly.

I am thinking of getting a 32gb nexus 7 tomorrow .
My question is are the pixels noticeable ?
I know on my Acer a100 they are very noticeable & annoying.
Also what decently priced case like the ottorbox will you recommend ?
I would like to say, I searched about the pixles and did not find anything .

the nexus 7 screen is a LOT better, the ppi goes from the 169 on the a100 to 213 on the n7. of course it is not a retina display and you can see pixels if you look hard, but it is a significant improvement over the a100. in fact, in normal day to day usage im not able to see the pixels at at all other than fully zoomed out in the browser. hope this helps.
Of you look you can see the pixels, but then again I can see the pixels on the iPad and iPhone and my gnex however on my gnex its harder. I cant tell at all on my nexus 4 But somewhere around 350ppi or so it becomes impossible to tell a difference

The DPI on the N7 is one of the highest around. They are not noticeable without your face pushed up to the glass and even then it would be hard.
TVs have super low DPI (60?). PC monitors are better... But nothing like newer gen mobile devices. Screen tech up to date and superb. Nothing to worry about.

sure, but remember: tv's have low pixel density, because it was seen from afar. in contrast, the mobile devices are designed to be used almost right up your face, and therefore you need to have a very high dpi screen just to keep jaggedness away. pc monitors are somewhere in the middle so they have good but not great ppis. when you compare ppi's, you cannot directly compare a tv screen with a smartphone/tablet screen, as they are designed and used in very different ways. so keep the comparison apples to apples (no pun intended . and n7 has a much better resolution than the a100 the op currently has, it will be a very noticeable improvement.

When you consider that the Nexus 4 has nearly the same screen resolution as the Nexus 7 but on a smaller screen size (1280x720 vs 1280x800) it's going to b quite a bit crisper.
People usually don't notice til they see something better.
Well I can notice on almost everything lol.
Because I do allot of gaming on my phone & tabs.
So that is a huge deciding factor .

1280x800 @ 7" is rather crisp, and most certainly noticeable over most other tablets (Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" for example is only 1024x600 on nearly the same size screen).
The Nexus 10" is 300dpi with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600. (versus the 216dpi @ 1280x800), so visually the 10 is much nicer, just not as powerful a processor (But more ram, I think it was intended for those drooling over eyecandy).
Moral of the story, quit worrying about the DPI on the N7. It is one of the highest DPI screens of any 7" (or mobile). You sure aren't going to be able to see pixels doing anything other then staring at non-moving black on white text, 1" from your eye. More importantly, you still cannot make out the pixels as they are so small that they blur together.
Anything that moves or has motion, won't be visible unless they are meant to be visible.
Like the title says, I have a questions about the infamous SOD (sleep of death).
So people say it happens if you let your nexus 4 go down to 0 percent battery.
Does it happen to everyone? I know how to get out of one but it's still a scary prospect...
Bottom line, is it okay to let our devices go down till 0 percent?

From a local store it is currently it is 1/2 price compared to nexus 7 (2013) from google play. So i am very tempted to buy it, so far I haven't felt the need for tablets but was thinking of using it to watch movies/videos when on the train commuting.
I don't know if I want to spend AU$300 for a 2013 model when this model is now $154 here.
From what i know, the good stuff about 2013 is
- 2GB RAM (This is probably the biggest thing)
- 1080p screen (Don't care too much about this, most stuff i watch is 720p anyway)
- Faster CPU
- Rear camera (Don't care!)
My intended usage is
- read books
- watch videos/movies
- play some light casual games
- light web surfing
- developing / testing tablet apps
So, will the 2012 be good enough if I don't need high performance? I am having a hard time justifying a 2x price for a category of device I have never owned and didn't think I need until now.
Yup, I think for that price the 2012 version is still bang for bucks and should be more then sufficient for the usage you planned.
The screen itself is the biggest upgrade over the 2012 N7. The colors are so vibrant on the 2013 model, side by side it makes the 2012 N7 screen look cheap.

The 2012 7 is still a great tab. While the screen is what everyone talks about on the new model, I think the 2012 one looks great itself. And while I'm sure the difference is noticeable if the 2 are side by side, when I looked at the 2013 model in store I didn't notice a difference.

Agree. At half price it is a terrific tablet. The screen is not a problem. The speakers are not great but it is a superb tablet. Get it quickly.
Cool thanks. I ordered one.
Cant complain. I got mine in the mail and was disappointed not to have a rear camera. But I like it nonetheless. Can't complain about having a tablet at all.

For that price worth it. There have been issues (fixable) so it is somewhat a roll of the dice. Maybe the refurbed is the better way to go.
Still a good buy for your needs.

My only concern with it is that it's very slow compared to my Nexus 4. But there was a time when my Nexus 7 felt lightyears ahead of my GS2. So I guess it depends on what you compare it to.
For that price I would go for the n72012 the n7 is still capable of handling a good amount of application's.
