I currently have the Motorola car dock and love it. It is very easy to slip the phone in and out of with the quick flip arm on the top. The dock also comes with a few inserts to change the overall slot size to allow for the stock phone, and then maybe a phone with a case on it.
But from what I have found, the allotment they have given us for a "Phone with a case on it" is pretty much only going to allow you to use the incipio feather, or the case-mate barely there case. (I use the Case-Mate) But what I dont like about that is the fact that these two cases offer MINIMAL amounts of protection to the phone, compared to say a seidio case, or of course the otterbox. Outside of the generic TPU cases, are there any other cases that would offer back, side, and front bezel surround protection for the phone that ALSO fit the car dock?
Hans
I would love to know this as well. I use the Verizon case with a kickstand, but it's pretty flimsy and I don't feel like it protects the phone very well. I'd love something a little more rugged, if it would fit.
My diztronic tpu case will fit in the car mount. I also have this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009KBH0TE/ref=ya_aw_oh_pit which is too bulky to fit in the mount even with no inserts.
For what it's worth, my diztronic case does offer minor bezel protection.
I just have to say I LOVE the car mount. It was designed so well. If there is anyone on the fence with buying it, go for it, it is worth it!

Not sure, but the S-Line looks the same as the Flexible (of course with the "S" design). I would think it would fit the dock fine. The Cimo case does NOT fit my modded Droid 3 desktop dock though, slightly too big.
For anyone reading this and considering purchasing the official Motorola dock, keep in mind that because of the built-in circuitry (not a magnet) that communicates with the usb portion of the phone, it's not custom ROM friendly.
If you're running stock or a modified stock, by all means it works great with the built-in smart actions and it's a great deal. But if you're using anything with a Cyanogenmod base (basically every custom rom in existence), then you'll lose audio until you reboot (gets redirected through usb and doesn't come back on removal).
You can hope for a fix in the future, or you can rip the internals out of the dock and replace them with a straight micro usb connector. It's that or stock ROMs!

Hey guys/gals, just thought I'd share this with you. I bought this case for my Tilt and it's one of the best I've had. The phone fits perfect in this case. Snug but easy to get out. I paid $12 on ebay for it. Make sure you buy the one with the attached belt clip (like in my pic). There is another one on there that allows you to change the belt clip. I had that one too but (same perfect fit) but unless you have a thin belt, the clip will not catch the belt. I'll include one of my previous cases. This one is just a better looking case and feels real sturdy. Hope you like it.
Have you seen a case that exposes the miniUSB port? I've seen a lot of good cases, but none that will expose the miniUSB. My second option would be just to go with the Seidio Slim Ruberized case.

Unfortunatly no I haven't. There's a thread on here that has the Seido clip with mods on it. Looks sweet.
I recently had bought a case for my Wing (before getting the tilt) and it fits the tilt perfectly and allows access to the usb port - unfortunately it seems the ebay seller is no longer registered so I can't even get the details from the auction.
This is HTC branded and the listing was titled NEW HTC TOUCH SHADOW MOGUL VX6800 MDA OEM LEATHER CASE
Edit - Found the case, different seller and more expensive, but you can see it - http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-Leather-Case-Pouch-for-HTC-Wing-P4350-Herald-XV6800_W0QQitemZ150268701210QQihZ005QQcategoryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for the GREAT review.
I have this HTC OEM case and it's real nice and pretty cheap. Fits perfectly with the Seidio case installed on the Tilt.
I recently purchased the Seidio rubberized case/holster combo. This is an excellent product. I was looking for protection for the Tilt's body, however, wanted to access the screen. I was using the metal case from Monaco, very well built, however, twice my Tilt fell out of the case when the unit was on my belt and the latch caught on the bumper of my car and the Tilt when bouncing on the pavement. Also, my signal was very weak with the metal case, never realized this was the problem as I always used a metal case. I switched to this combo unit and I now have an extra 1-2 bars of signal regularly. Also, I like the fact the holster will hold the unit with the skin in place, faces inward, giving max protection to the screen which is easily accessed. If you want a case to protect the body of the tilt, access the screen easily, and use with a belt clip (do not have to use the clip holster), I could not imagine a better choice. I am very happy with the quality and design of the unit.

I already have a soft rubber case and wondering if I could get buy just buying the holster for it.

not necessarily, you could face it either way and its worth it. believe me, its worth it. even though its a little pricey.
The rubberized case is good. I gave up on the holster because the clip kept getting caught and would disengage the phone causing it to fall.
I got a Palm Treo case and it fits perfectly. The Seidio case also prevents the Tilt's buttons from being accidentally pressed.
This is the best combination of all the cases I have tried.

are there any docks out there that fit the fuze when it has the seidio innocase on?
I was wondering the exact same thing!!!
doesnt look like anybody knows.
I will be interested too. I had a hard time finding out about a pouch that would fit the phone w/ the Innocase. Probably because not too many are using it.
Best regards.
This dock from sedio says it should fit it with the case on.
I'm curious about the fit on this dock, i am mainly interested because it has a slot for an extra battery and was wodering if anyone has any experience with the seidio case and this dock. If anyone has the case and this dock also, I would like their opinion on it also.
I just ordered a couple of very inexpensive docks w/ battery charger from a website and I will post as soon as I get them.
Best regards.
thanks, keep us updated. i know the seidio one works with it but i want one that has a battery charger built in.
I know from personal experience that this one will NOT work with the Seido Innocase installed:
http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02926&dept_id=039&cat_id=0951
They have 2 other similar ones that I expect won't work either since they are based on the same design.

Could you not take out the adapter in the middle for it? Or is the area around where the phone touches the dock just one whole piece?
Colleagues,
Finally... The 2 cradles I ordered finally arrived. So... does the phone with the Seidio snap on case fit on it? Not right out of the box, but... if you are creative you can use pliers to kind of push the connector on the cradle a little bit forward and it works perfectly. This cradle has the slot for charging a battery as well as a USB cable. It only costs $19.99 with free shipping (no, I don't know the vendor).

The part of the cover where the phone sits is all one piece with the mini-usb connector sticking up in the middle. The opening is molded to the shape of a naked touch pro.
I could probably take a dremel tool to it but it would look pretty bad since the whole dock is shiny black.
Ok so the OEM tmobile gel and plastic cases for the G2 are totally worthless. I've never seen a case made of such low quality and they want like 20 - 30 bucks for them.
i was curious to see if anyone bought anything good off ebay or elsewhere?
cheers

How can you say the T-mo gel is worthless? IMO, its the only one worth the money, and its only $16. It fits perfect, it feels good, and it protects GREAT.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I have both the gel case and the Bodyglove snap-on case.
I switch between them as the mood strikes me, but I'm somewhat more fond of the bodyglove case. The gel case adds somewhat more size to the phone and has a tendency to pull money/receipts/etc. along when I take it out of my pocket.
The bodyglove case is smaller, lighter, and allows access to the physical device buttons, whereas the gel case covers them and I find it sometimes difficult to hit the volume buttons, and exceedingly difficult to use the camera focus half-press.
I have the Protective Hard cover. Its a all clear plastic case with kickstand. It looks really nice and is a pain to take off.

LOL!
I have the Body Glove case. I like that it keeps it from slipping out of my hand or off the dash.
I have the t-mo gel case (the thicker $18 one) and I love it. I work next to a cell phone accessory kiosk and none of the other cases even come close to the protection AND quality of the t-mo one. Yeah it sucks when you need to pull it out of your pocket, but that can be said of any gel case.
I use the Maya case from Proporta. It's just a nice leather sleeve with a soft microfiber-like interior. I don't like having an actual case around my phone, but like to have it in the sleeve in my pocket to protect it from scratches and drops.
There is a nice body glove case w/out a clip and has a kinda disco pattern on it. Not bulky at all for being BG.

+1
Picked one up on Ebay for $4 shipped and it fits great. Nice sleeve to protect the phone when its in my pockets from scratches. With a Skinomi screen protector on the screen, I know my phone is well protected.
I've got the Tmo metallic dark purple snap-on hard shell case. The stores were having (are still maybe?) a sale on accessories. I love the color more than I thought I would and it's definitely very good quality in my opinion. That being said, I wish it was a rubberized finish similar to the back battery cover of the G1, but I'll order a shell case like that soon.
I also made a "holder" for my G2 out of a Moleskine Memo Pocket (I left one pocket for my ID, credit cards, etc and cut the rest out carefully with an exacto knife then padded the interior with micro-suede). I just slip the phone in and it's protected from any other stuff rattling around in my purse. Or I can just add my ID and necessities for a quick carry-all.
I have both the bodyglove and the $16 case. The bodyglove case which protects the back half of the phone is great. But, the other front half of the case's frame is too thin and not durable. If you remove the case about once a day, the snaps will give out or just not catch anymore. Also the cutout to the camera makes it impossible for me to fit my finger in and focus the picture before taking it.(hold half way down to focus). The $16 case is perfect for me. There are no cut outs to the volume toggle or camera button so it allows you to apply slight force to focus then a full press of the button to take a picture. Also the bottom base of the front half wraps around the keypad for a more secure fit.
Take a look at this video I made, fast forward to 4:06 where I did a quick rant of the bodyglove case. Linked below. You'll see the sides of the case started to spread apart and peel off. The $16 which I've had on longer than the bodyglove does not give me any of those problems.

I bought this mount for my old galaxy s4, , and it worked fine.
It is designed so that you put a piece of high carbon metal in between the phone and the case, then you place it on the magnet and it sticks. It is a truly awesome dock, but I have a question. My S4 would not stick to it without the metal plate in the case, this phone will stick right to it without a case or the metal piece. This worries me.
Has anyone used a similar dock to this one, or can somebody let me know if this will damage my phone? I would just use it, but I heard that the camera's image stabilization is magnetic or something? I am hoping that somebody can give me some info regarding this.

Lol there's a magnet in the Quickview case

I also found out that QI chargers, like my phone supports, also contain a fairly strong magnet to hold the phone in position. The reason my phone was sticking to the magnet dock is because the QI receptor on the back of the phone (inside the back plastic) is magnetic so it can stick to the QI charging base.
Based on my research and my own experience, I am going to assume that it is safe considering I know 3 people using the dock have not had issues and my SGS4 was fine after a few months. I guess I answered my own question. I guess I was just looking for somebody who has used the dock for a longer period of time.
Thanks

However, you must place the magnet as closest to the buttons on the back side or your wireless charging wont work..

Thanks arson. I don't use wireless charging, at least not yet. The dock I have has about a 1" by 2" super thin piece of metal to put in between the case and the phone. The dock technically stuck to the qi receptor, but I didn't want to do it that way. What I am trying to say is that my metal piece is going to definitely cover up some of the qi receptor, plus I'd rather thave the magnet farrtger away from my camera if possible

As long the magnet not near camera, it's fine.

If the flap\cover on your case triggers the window widgets and wakes\suspends the phone then, yes, it does have a magnet in it.
Not sure how far back the practice goes, but my OG Droid used the same method to trigger Car Home when inserted into the car dock. I took the magnet out of the dock to prevent Car Home from launching.
Small high power neodymium magnets.

I have been using a Mountek (the guys who invented this) CD slot mount for three months or so, on Samsung Galaxy S3, Nexus 7 and LG G2.
No issues with magnets on any of the devices. You can wiki the topic.
Screen issues? No, we don't have CRT displays.
Storage? No, flash memory is not magnetic.
Compass? Maybe, hasn't affected me (Co-Pilot Standard, Google Navigation) YMMV
Location Services / GPS? No, GPS uses satellites.
Speakers? It has its own magnets.
Camera? If mechanical zoom, perhaps. Digital zoom, no.
While one can't believe everything on the internet, the consensus is overwhelming that magnets generally do no harm to modern smartphones. I'd be more worried about wireless charging, yet it's becoming mainstream.

You're right! I have located one small magnet
Now that I've used the iMagnet suction mount for a few days I can chime in. It didn't affect my GPS signal and it didn't affect my camera. I didn't purchase a QI charger for my Verizon G2 so I can't comment on its affect. But I do love the flexibility this mount provides since it doesn't use any gripping arms. I'm using an Incipio Dual Pro case with the round magnet between the inner and outer shell. It fits perfectly.
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I have been using a QI charge rand the suction based mount like this.
Everything has been working flawless. No issues with GPS/DATA/ETC... everything still works.
No need to clip or adjust the holder for the mount. Its just put up and it works.
The only major downside? Well, two or three actually..
CONS:
1. The metal piece is small and thin. But it will still affect the way you use your case. Most cases are built to have nothing between case and phone. Even putting that slim metal piece makes it a little challenging to make just about any case sit flush. Including the Quick Window case, basic TPU case (which has worked the best), and my new incipio case.
2. Because of the metal, it usually affects NFC because it is right there. There might be a sweet spot to make it work with the metal there, but I usually have to take my phone out of the case or at least remove the metal. Main reason the cheap TPU cases work well. East on and off.
3. Pretty much the same as #2, but the metal also affects QI charging. Again, there might be a sweet spot, but I havent found it.
If you don't use NFC or use a QI charger and can deal with A LITTLE ill fitting on the case you own, then I think this is one of the best mounts out there.
I did not stick the metal I just have it loose in the case so I can remove it if necessary.
I currently have a Poetic Slimline case for my Nexus 10 (with hard back and magnetic cover), but it makes the tablet quite heavy to hold when I'm using it as an e-reader. Since it very rarely leaves the house I'm now looking for a lightweight sleeve which I can slip it into when I'm not using it - preferably a simple, soft sleeve with no zip. It's just to give it a small amount of protection from things being placed on top of it when it's lying on the table or sofa. Can anyone recommend anything? (in the UK)
I had a moko slim when I owned my nexus 10 for a short period of time. I loved it AND it was cheap. I dont know how hard it is to get across the pond but I believe dodocase makes a classy looking leather sleeve thats slightly padded. Only bad thing is it's pretty expensive ($65 US).

Thanks for the reply. The moko slim looks pretty similar to the poetic slimline case that I already have - it adds alot of bulk to the tablet. Unfortunately the $65 price tag for a dodocase rules it out - I'd personally never spend 20% of the price of the tablet on a case!
Lol agreed. At 20% the cost of the tablet its an awfully steep price... Check amazon for faux leather sleeves. I want to say I've seen some for mega cheap. Or maybe the Google play store still has the official cover- that would be nice because it integrates into that peel off back panel by the camera and barely adds any weight. But then it only protects the screen...

Thanks for the suggestion. I usually leave the tablet on charge when it's not in use, which is the main reason for not wanting a zip as it would get in the way. I know I could leave it unzipped, but it would just be simpler to find a sleeve that the tablet slides into from the top. Like a large sock, I suppose.
