don't use the phone for heavy stuff and u don't use A15 cause no kernel is available for that porpuse

Root your phone and use app like system tuner or setcpu and underclock to 600 mhz, it will only use the A7 and you won't feel any performance degradation unless you play heavy games with a bit slow loading.

Most people say that A57 cores are disabled on MM. But it isnt True. As you can see on screenshots, they are working. Please post screenshot from cpu-z on android N.
It's not disabled completely, they become active as needed when temp is under control for them to be active.
how is the temp and battery in N

Very Good.
I hope so. I don't really wanna update if the A57 cores don't work.
They are not stop on Mm but Android N
It is true that the cpu changed Android N to Quad core???
They totally ruined Device by pushing such update ????
I'd rather belive it's cpu-z problem, because antutu score did not change after upgrading to 7.0.

Nope... It's Absolutely true.. 4 cores got disabled and working cores got underclocked to 1.5ghz
Don't belive the're underclocked. A53 cores runs at 1,5ghz as they should. We just don't have any app that can read actuall clock speed of A57 cores. But if they're disabled, I should not get any cpu usage on them. And I'm getting cpu usage on them!
What more, why we have the same benchmark scores as in Marshmallow?
Did anyone test this on lollipop? The cores themselves may not be disabled but I did notice their lack of use, no matter what game or app I use the 4 extra cores stay at 0 %.
Benchmarks such as atutu maybe specifically written to utilize all cores, but seeing their lack of use in general use is troubling.
As for the downclock the specification for this A57 is 2GHZ according to this.
http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z3+-6878.php
And I do remember the clock speed being different in MM.
And there's also this.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62151047&postcount=17
So some downclocking was made.
Edit.
Something worth a note, thou some people may know this already, "Stamina Mode" does seem to hae some effect on CPU usage.
After disabling "stamina mode" or setting it to start when battery is low i started to notice some usage from A57 in general use, where before it was not used at all.
I confirm on Android 7 they are disabled (last update). What the hell is this...

I wouldn't say that's a proof, the cores may just not be in use atm, care to flash marshmallow or kittkat to test this?

On Android 7 they never work. They keep on sleeping(or disabled it's the same thing)

Well to truly test you would have to flash all the way to KK, as supposedly the cores are disabled on both MM and N.
But you are correct it doesn't matter, as the A57 is down clocked to 1.56GHz to match the A53, and the A57 is in constant sleep state, may as well be disabled, even when running full HD games it does nothing, i wiuld mind this that much if it helped to keep the phone cooler but even without the A57 Z3+ is a bloody furnace, 60C degrees on a cold day, when in use just browsing the web.
Did you notice any difference when testing MM and N, lags, slowdowns etc?
How about any benchmarks? in antutu i get from 50k to 80k and i didn't notice all cores being uses when beniching, the only way i ever saw all cores in use is when using a CPU stress app.
If i had to guess i would say that the phone switches between A57 and A53 depending on what you do bu i never noticed CORES 5-7 ever being used.
Hay everyone!
here, i have some questions... here it goes
Is there any possibility that we will get OC (overclock) for our p8 lite?
If we will get cpu oc will it be possible to overclock GPU?
How much is our gpu capable of and whats the current clock?
Vulkan API support one day???
Thanks!

All i need is High performance PC and firmware, but i don't have good enough pc, i tried, to Modify CPU File via ADB but only what i git is Fail! So, if you can, you can try to Modify it too! Maybe you succeed

OC - definetly kernel related
Vulkan API - pretty old gpu sadly, it can receive vulkan, but it depends on Mali
You may be able to overclock the CPU, but it isn't worth it. Already the battery life is bad to terrible(at least in my case) so overclocking a CPU-> making it more power-hungry will crush the battery life. And I'm pretty sure with overclocking we will get maximum +3K points in Antutu

We have a kernel but that's is incomplete so, it may have bugs! And comes with high risk of bricking device! And other thing it is impossible to get 4-8 cores out of sleep, maybe someone will put them on work but right now? Pff! Dream with eyes closed

Kernel is complete
4-8 cores are working correctly, but most of the apps can't see that
Never bricked this phone with a esal kernel

1. I don't cate about battery usage, i just want max performance
2.i don't have low battery life, idk why
3. If my battery will have problem, i will just brick my phone and send back to service xd if they will nit repair it, unbrick and no problem
4.power banks

The Snapdragon 820 is composed of two LITTLE cores at 1.5 GHz max, and two big cores at 2.15 GHz max. Your crappy benchmark app is reading the LITTLE cores' speed. Forget about it and get on with life
is it possible to overclock kirin 620 cpu?
i just want to try it for fun, im keeping ut downclocked anyway because battery life is horrible lol

Nope
I am user who watches YouTube most of the time and I looked into BBS and CPU is running about 600 MHz at all 8 cores all the time when I watch videos. I guess thats a lot and it drains my battery. Is it somehow possible to set the lowest clock about 300 MHz when I am watching YouTube? Or just shutdown 4 cores at least? I guess I will need root for that. Thanks
As you can see, I was watching YT for about 4 hours and most of the time was CPU running at 653 MHz, not lower.
600 mhz is the lowest you can get with stock kernel
I believe some kernels (Extreme kernel / Project K) allow you to set it to 300 mhz

Great! But is it still possible somehow in stock kernel? With magisk and some kernel apps like kernel adiutor?

You need an custom kernel. However, the 300mhz is slightly too low. Making music laggy and distorted when turning off the display.

Nope. You need a custom kernel
Most of the devs are already getting rid of OC/UC on their kernels, F.Y.I
Instead of lowering your clock speed try disabling four cores and reduce the max frequency. Set governor to conservative. If you want more power saving use powersave. Warning: performance will degrade heavily.
Edit: skipped over your mention of disabling four cores. Still it's a valid choice. I do it in extreme case.
It's not needed for our Mi A1 i think...

We don't have big.LITTLE. because of 8 cores it shows two clusters of 4 cores as big and little.

What about hotplug.... Never see any core stop @Cpu-z... Rip battery
RIP battery what, the Snapdragon 625 is a very efficient chip. Most modern chips nowadays provide zero to negative impact on the battery life with active intensive core hotplugging.
This soc consumes almost nothing, not worth at all to downclock/downvolt.
