There are ports for the sgs1 and nexus s but data connection and bluetooth don't work yet, they are also mostly cm7 based so we need cm7 running on our devices first, after that it shouldn't be to hard to port to the sgs2

Hey Guys, we can finally get ICS drivers if we sign this petition and get more supporters. There are currently 2500+ supporters, so it would be great if you guys contributed by signing the petition like I did (its not hard).
GO TO THIS LINK TO SIGN THE PETITION (PLEASE DON'T SPAM): http://www.groubal.com/ics-drivers-compiled-for-armv6-from-qualcomm/
If we get enough, Qualcomm may compile the drivers for us so we can get the full ICS rom experience .
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551784
I already signed it, and hopefully qualcomm releases armv6 for our legends.
Petitions rose to 3200+ in just one night, things are looking good
Please don't forget that even if there were binary drivers suitable to run msm7k on ICS we'd still need an updated kernel (kgsl, etc) to use them.
Signed. They would be a great progress for the ICS experience on Legend!

That's true but at least we are one step closer in helping devs complete the ICS Rom.

If I heard right, Qualcomm has released the drivers!
Anyway, zeubea's ICS ROM now should have them.

What must I do?
Well I'm glad to see the Legend is evolving again, but I'm a bit of a Noob in these things...
Should I (as just a user, not a dev) download these new drivers, and flash them?
Or are these new drives just for devs, to make new ROMs?
Sorry if this was just a silly question...
No, you can't simply install them. But nevermind, they will be used...
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562595 for the leading edge ROM
we can finally get ICS drivers

So...
So I shouldn't care about this new driver, as it is only important for the developers?
I should only be happy, because now there will be better-looking ROMs like CM9 BETA0 based port for Legend , right?
Correct me if I'm wrong, please...

Umm, that's not what I meant lol... Sure you can be happy if you want but the person that will put it to use is the developer to create a rom for you to enjoy.
So you aren't entirely wrong.

As much as we all, the likelihood of him returning back is less than 50%. I think his still looking into GB for Legend in CM.

Well, then you actually know more than I do.
Maintaining the Gingerbread port doesn't mean I'm not looking into possibilities for ICS on the Legend – we're just not doing half-done crap-releases. CM is our baby, we treat it nicely.
I'm still here, my Legend's still working and it (and a lot of other CM7 devices based on capable msm7k chipsets) will get an ICS port once a few requirements are off our list of obstacles (quite big list, quite big obstacles).
One of these requirements – an Adreno driver for ICS – was just recently met and yes, I'm pretty excited about that. Unfortunately there's still one big piece missing (OMX).

So if you have what you need then you will be releasing it? I thought cm gave on up the legend because it didn't have enough ram.
Glad to hear that your still attempting to compile an ICS rom for the legend

Hey guys!
In Samsung Galaxy S forum i found something veeeeeeeeeery interesting!
It's about the Linaro-Code that should speed up Android about a noticeable amount!
Just take a look at this video:
Linaro-Video from Youtube
(This is the related article: cnx-software.com)
Idk what i should think about it. If it really works, i guess it would be worth a try ?!
Here is another article, which says, that it can speed up Android 2 times!
"The Linaro team, who’s constantly working on optimizing software for the ARM
architecture, has worked on optimizing the latest version of Android as well, and
they claim up to 2x improvement in performance compared to stock Android
4.0.4, running on the same TI OMAP 4430 hardware. The improvements are
mostly CPU-related, even though they are showing a graphical object to test the
performance. They’ve managed to double the FPS for this particular test, but
they’ve also managed to increase the Sunspider performance by 30%, which is
also quite a big deal."
- quote from this article.

Yes, it would really be. I just posted it because I thought kernel 3.x could handle it.
Sorry for double-posting this topic.
Anyway; if our developers find more time and are able to make kernel 3.x running
(which would be awesome!) our phone would get an enourmous speed-boost.
We have used it in our CM9 port on LG P500, but there are still some issues to solve, but our Linaro-build is smooth So good luck! If a dev needs some info on how to include it in their code, look at our project-site github.com/lgics
I have a feeling this may be a stupid question but I REEEEAAALLLY want to get OmniROM, looks soooo awesome!

I totally agree. I wonder who has info on this.
One of the major criteria for a device to have official omni rom is to have a dedicated device maintainer.. so if u have a dedicated developer who can participate ..... omni is open source ...

Yup. In the early days of omni, some guys were working on the d2 family, but I don't think I've seen any recent activity there.
I have been eagerly waiting for Omni Rom for the loving d2att devices. Have been requesting different devices for building something for our device, till date no success.
Hope someone stand up and do something for our device

Would it be posible to port Android L preview to s/s plus? It's probably posible.
I wish someone tries to do that.
I vote for this, we need "Android L" on Galaxy i9000.
No its not possible i guess. We must wait for cm12

No and the hardware limitation because they cant handle the 3.10 kernel

space?
space is not a problem, a slim cm12 rom like SlimCM could have enough free space, and moving all posible apps to SD would help to, and ART would be good for a second life to our phone.
But, about the hardware limitations, there is maybe some way to use the 3.4 drivers with 3.10 kernels? And, I ask, did the 3.4 kernel initially support our devices?

No this is not possible because 3.10 kernel has lot of changes...we can use only the android L if we are able to use 3.4 kernel but we will lose many features probably

Android L beta uses 3.4 kernel and has almost all features of the final version. All apps of the final version will work in beta.

KitKat was already developed for low end devices, as it only needs 512 MB RAM and has a low graphics mode. But Lollipop needs more process power for its animations and other new features. I know it's sad, but we all knew that this journey would come to an end one day.
But that's just my two cents, maybe someone will port L and it works good [emoji6]

We've had a good run though. Our galaxy S has had some incredible support from A LOT of incredible devs. In fact were still getting new ROMs and updates now even after all the years our phones have been about. I don't think that L will run smoothly, but most likely we will see L hitting our phones, and maybe some dev will find a way of getting this to run well on our phones. Devs seem to love a challenge. It's thanks to such great devs that I'm still using my S1 as my daily driver after 4 years even after changing phones once, not liking the upgrade, and coming back.
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL DEVS WHO HAVE GRACED OUR BELOVED S1.
