Hey guys. Like a few months back I unrooted my phone and got back to stock. Now I rooted again using the toolkit but when I try to edit the system files I get this error for some reason used to be perfect in the past. Would be great if somebody could help me out.

The file manager your using has to be set to r/w. What file manager are you using

Yup I tried that. I am able to delete and replace files if I do that but I'm not able to edit.

I tried using root explorer and edited the file successfully but when I save and open the file again the values return to the old ones.

Recently I noticed after making a back up it's not saved. I get no errors but it's not in my clockworkmod/backups folder. Can anyone help?

What version of CWM? Do you have anything in that folder? Do you have a folder named blobs in the CWM folder?

Yes, that is because in 4.2 you need to look under /data/media/clockworkmod.

Hello all,
I've followed all the instructions posted on how to root my Nexus 4 on either YouTube and XDA. However, I keep getting the same "waiting for device" message once I set my device into bootloader mode. Any tips on what can or must I do next to solve this issue?
Thank you and I appreciate any help I get in here in advance

Use Wugs toolkit to install the device drivers

And you should really have posted this in Q & A

Well my first thought is to make sure you have USB debugging enabled. After that I would try the PDA net drivers instead of the one that came with the toolbox. I had a similar issue and that fixed it.

Mine was a pain to root. Drivers wouldn't update, other things didn't work, and the toolkit kept saying my ADB was off. The problem was my sdk wasn't up to date. Once I fixed that, I just used the ADB method and it was done in ten minutes.

Thank you so much. I'm downloading the Wugs toolkit now. Will revert back once I've installed and root my device
p/s - sorry for the noob mistake of posting this in the wrong thread. I think it was already moved by an admin.

I have apparently enable USB debugging but the issue still persists. I'm gonna try BigSimon's suggestion and will let you know if it works.
Anyway, thank you so much for the feedback

Hello everyone, I know there are thousands of these WhatsApp topics out here. I tried almost every possible method to get it to work. I want to install WhatsApp on bluestacks and back it up with titanium backup. The WhatsApp installation on bluestacks is fine, but I can't get the program to be rooted. I tried it with instructions from another topic on XDA. I followed every step from the guide but it isn't rooted. Reinstalling doesn't work either...

Yes. Root checker also says I don't have root.
I used pre rooted files I found on this forum, just copied them to the blue stacks android folder. Do I have to do something else after copying root.fs and initrd.img (or something)?

I usually have to flash like 4+ different zips and its most convenient if I could have them all in one folder instead of all over, does it really make it difference if I flash from a folder or SD?

You can flash from anywhere

Not as far as I know. I often flash .zips from /download and have absolutely no issues.

No difference at all. Back in the day before the recoveries had file explorers. They only looked for the file /sdcard/update.zip.
So you used to have to rename your zip to update.zip then put it on the root of sdcard or else it wouldn't install anything.

Never use toolkits..
Charge your phone for atleast 8-10hrs and then switch it on..
Trying going to bootloader and side load the zip file(search in generalsection for the zip file) and flash it.
