Never use toolkits..
Charge your phone for atleast 8-10hrs and then switch it on..
Trying going to bootloader and side load the zip file(search in generalsection for the zip file) and flash it.

Rooting problem - need help and guidance

Hello all,
I've followed all the instructions posted on how to root my Nexus 4 on either YouTube and XDA. However, I keep getting the same "waiting for device" message once I set my device into bootloader mode. Any tips on what can or must I do next to solve this issue?
Thank you and I appreciate any help I get in here in advance

Use Wugs toolkit to install the device drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34674471
And you should really have posted this in Q & A

Well my first thought is to make sure you have USB debugging enabled. After that I would try the PDA net drivers instead of the one that came with the toolbox. I had a similar issue and that fixed it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Mine was a pain to root. Drivers wouldn't update, other things didn't work, and the toolkit kept saying my ADB was off. The problem was my sdk wasn't up to date. Once I fixed that, I just used the ADB method and it was done in ten minutes.

Thank you so much. I'm downloading the Wugs toolkit now. Will revert back once I've installed and root my device

I have apparently enable USB debugging but the issue still persists. I'm gonna try BigSimon's suggestion and will let you know if it works.
Anyway, thank you so much for the feedback

[Q] [URGENT] Need help accessing files on my Nexus 4!

Im in dire need of help here. I sold my phone through ebay today and have been rushing round to restore the phone to default. In the process I have wiped my phone of everything up to installing the factory 4.3 rom onto the phone.
Unfortunately, I cant access the phone via my computer! Ive tried installing drivers but I cant access the storage to put the rom onto the phone for me to install it and I'm tearing my hair out over this.
Please tell me theres a way to do this!
Thanks in advance!
PS. Windows 8.1, TWRP recovery.

You don't copy anything onto the phone... You flash it in fastboot. Plenty of threads about this.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To restore the phone to stock you need to use fastboot, not flash through custom recovery, otherwise the phone still isn't stock and they won't receive updates.
Just follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34552123
For Windows 8 to install the driver you need to reboot into advance mode and press F7 at the menu to disable driver signature, adb/fastboot and driver link in my signature.

I used the fastboot guide and it worked. Thanks for your help everyone!

[BOOTANIMATION] Stock

A few people were wondering where to get the stock boot animation, so instead of telling them to pull it from a custom ROM file, I made a flashable zip.
Download: here.
Instructions:
Download, flash in recovery, reboot.
Thanks, appreciated.

This is the one I made. It's stock decrypted, DM verity removed, se policy (made by @Tigerstown) changed out for traditional root to work.

Not sure. I'm running stock rooted. I don't use cm. It's completely stock so I'd imagine it should work ok. I can't say for sure though.
Give it a shot.

If it doesn't work you can also try a custom kernel. But I can get you a link to that tool later today if you want to go that route.

Kernel is the same as boot image. If you're already encrypted then you need to flash ex with no force encryption selected. Then format userdata. You will have to flash kernel after wiping data to get tweaks back.
