Broke the screen of my HTC One Developer Edition bought from letstalk. Sent in back to HTC USA and they charged me $300 to replace it. Although the price is high, I decide to accept it (As far as I remember, the cost of a S4 is less that $250)
What's worse, I never get any updates from them for two weeks. After I called, I was told that I have to wait for a month!
I will never try HTC again.

Where did you get your phone from? In many countries phones are brought in by an official distributor, and they handle all warranty related issues (as well as repairs). They may have regional HTC offices, but they are mostly admin branches. So maybe you should direct your rage to whoever it is you bought your phone from.

I bought my HTC ONE developer edition from Let's talk.com, US. I sent the device back to HTC USA factory. So I guess it's not a distributor issue.
HTC told me it would take them 2 days to fix my phone after receiving it (this was when I broke my One X).

Or sole retailer for it..
Just to clarify, if you buy a phone from HTC art htc.com, letstalk handles order processing and fulfillment. So the "reason " I bought my phone from letstalk is: I didn't. I don't know who they are and I don't care. I bought my phone from HTC.

This is my real experience!
Do note htc online store is not handled by htc but negotiated out to a separate company in this case letstalk whos customer service is terrible and really the entire company is bad from order processing to customer service. If you have an issue call htc main headquarters or file a better business complaint against htc to their Washington headquarters. I had an issue and they resolved it alot better and quicker than letstalk customer service ever would.

Still more expensive than Amazon and Expansys.
Sent from my HTC Desire
In all honesty, I would not pre-order.
In my opinion they are price gouging. The Expansys and Amazon prices have been stuck at ~£600+ ever since there were pictures of the device. Sure, if they were selling it a month early at those prices, then I could over look it. But they are totally ignoring how much the device is probably going to cost and acting like they are giving you a good deal.
There aren't going to be supply shortages of these things. Samsung wants to sell like a million a month for a year. They will be there when you want to buy one. Personally, I'd stop and look at the pricing when it drops. That means if its cheap as it should be then you can get a 64gig model. If its too pricey, then just wifi. Either way it doesn't hurt, and it certainly means that you actually get what you pay for instead of what Expansys thought it was worth two months ago when they 'guarenteed the price' (ie before we learned the retail cost in the states is going to be like $650/£410)
I think if anything, £600 is a good price. HTC Desires are still selling for £400 on the internet, so £200 more for a tablet makes sense IMHO.
Sent from my HTC Desire
The problem really is that we don't know where its going to hit on the UK market. If its on par with the Euro-zone bits of europe, then £600 is a little high but about right.
On the other hand, if we're on par with say Finland or the States then those prices are way too high. Potentially you could get a contract one that costs £650 over its life time.
That's certainly why I'm not pre-ordering anyway. Until I see solid pricing for the UK, I don't want to commit to the price. £600 is about the highest it could possibly launch at, and if buying a day after lauch saves me up to £150 then hell yeah I'll wait a day. Im even thinking about importing a GSM one from the states.

Exactly. Its weird how they didn't just do a big release event for each zone giving prices and stuff. I know the carriers want to be doing the majority of the sales and they are a law unto themselves when it comes to release dates but still. If you want buzz then let us know what we are buying.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the website, new to android but loving it so far.
I would really appreciate any opinions here. My girlfriend and I both bought our phones about a month ago. Mine has the tmobile extended warrenty (which is not something I would usually get, but it's a new phone plan and I can cancel so I said yes for now) hers does not. Well of course (I saw it coming) she dropped her phone and has a terrible crack down the screen.
I was wondering if anyone has an opinions on what I should do
Are there any good screen replacement sites anyone has tried that are trust worthy? Or would a better option be purchasing the screen myself and trying to install it (not sure how difficult something like this would be but wouldn't mind the challenge if it is a viable option)
Last thing I was thinking was just filing a lost phone claim for my phone and paying the deductible which is $130 dollars.
Anyway any help would be awesome, thanks.

I used to work for HTC based here in Houston, TX.
We repaired and refurbished all HTC phones for ATT, Tmo and so on and so forth.
It's not easily done at home. Especially with phones that had touch screens.
Torque screwdrivers to get the right tightness, air compressors to clear dust from the screen and other tools needed to separate parts of the phone without damaging them.
In my opinion, and it's not a professional one, claim the lost and pay the 130.
It's easier than going through all the trouble.
And from the only site I came across, they sold digitizers/lcd for 99.99 I believe.
I don't remember the site though. I've already deleted the bookmark.
Hope this helps.
But if you claim a lost phone can't they find out that you're lying because they can see that your sim is still in that phone?

You'd have to call Tmo and freeze your SIM, which means you'd need a new one.
You can talk yourself out of having to pay for a new sim card. (Trust me.)
They can even make a note of it and you can pick it up at a Tmo corporate retail store.
But you would have to take the new phone for yourself and the old one for your girl.
Just better played that way.

and what if they freeze it based of the IMEI which isn't on your sim... then you would pay 130 for nothing...
You would need to really lose your phone. Asurion isn't dumb and they will prosecute for fraud. Just an fyi if you do start using the same phone again that was lost its gonna be bad.

They can't freeze a phone, it doesn't belong to them. The SIM is a different story.
You're suggesting something that doesn't make sense.
But anyway. An opinion was asked for and I gave it.

use your warranty for your gf phone, and ship back the cracked one once you receive the replacement. No fraud, and your on the clear.

I ended up getting through to an HTC Conference room with a bunch of bigwigs at HTC and everyone heard that I was a dissatisfied customer.
Well the manager of Customer Service called me back and we had a very long conversation. She will be looking into why the HTC replacement phones are on backorder.
Also told her they need to make an Evo Shift 2. heheh
She'll be getting back to me soon.

Nope. I'm about to follow up with HTC right now.
So basically what I would recommend everyone doing is reading this thread here:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/382301
Email [email protected] and let him know your issue. It will go to the office of the CEO of Sprint and should help speed up the process of getting your replacement.
Got my replacement, only thing I don't like about it is it is that the last one had rounded glass on the touchscreen and camera lens, it was odd but beautiful, make it feel like one of those new winmo nokia phones.
Atleast this one works though.
I heard that HTC is cutting back on manufacturing these devies, both the OG Evo and the Evo Shift. But HTC still has to consider replacement devices so they probably have cut back their production line for these devices quite a bit but still keep small sections open for manufacturing . Either way to me it sounds like more of a issue on HTC's part with the back orders and Sprint shouldn't really be blamed. But sprint should have a loaner phone policy where customers can pay a deposit or something if Sprint is worried that much about people not returning the loaner phones as they say on that link that Vicodan posted. Then you could of course get the deposit back once your new device comes in. A shift 2 with a dual core cpu would be nice though. I think HTC should consider this when planning their new devices to manufacturer.

It's more like Sprint clears out inventory of replacement shifts, 500 shifts break and they order 500 more and you get your replacement. It's a really weird system but it makes sense, they buy in bulk. That is the understanding that I have and can share publicly without getting into too much confidential detail but HTC heard my concerns loud and clear, I promise you that.
Every concern everyone has voiced on this forum has been voiced including my own.
I would just say patience is a virtue guys.

+1... Sprint and/or HTC know how dependent people are on their mobile devices, because they and modern technology have made us that dependent... To solve the non return issue of loaners, a simple $300 charge on bill when loaner is accepted by customer and $300 credit on the bill when loaner is returned, all guaranteed by a basic agreement signed by sprint and the customer. I didn't even go to business school and that makes sense to me...

The Galaxy S4 is very cheap on this site http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s4-sim-free-p-84354.html
I was thinking of getting it, reading some reviews the only problems customers have come across is after sales support, if the phone has a fault or is damaged in some way unlocked-mobiles are hard to deal with (apparently).

Eh, I don't think they're all that good as a company to be honest, my USB port died on my GS2 after 13 months, I emailed to ask about the warranty and they told me even though they advertise that it comes with a 2 year warranty, it's really only 1 year, and anything after that I'd have to prove Samsung was at fault and that it wasn't due to wear and tear.
Their site is hosted by "uk-cheapest.co.uk" and the registrant for their domain name has a Yahoo! e-mail address. They're certainly no Clove or Handtec.

To be fair that's down to Samsung. It's their discretion on warranty cover. Although you could go down the legal route when goods don't last a reasonable amount of time for the price paid, which the supplier is responsible for.
I'm not sure many companies would help after more than a month or 2 without a push.
Even Game required a snotty letter (pointing out consumer law rights) before they agreed to fix an xbox 360 past its warranty period.

Careful with these guys - they charge a 15% restocking fee if you change your mind - check their T&Cs. You get a shock if you return the item.
I know it won't be an issue for most as you'll want to keep hold of your S4s but worth thinking about of your not sure as it's a huge restock cost.

Could have told me that before I had ordered it from Spigen! Damn! Haha
I talked to tmobile on their twitter help page and then called them. The rep told me on the phone I can keep the device if I like and when they get replacements in they will ship the replacement FIRST and then I can send them back my original Note 7. I ordered mine via the store so I have to deal with corporate. Tmobile help page told me the same thing I can keep my Note and simply swap it out but said I can have it shipped to the store too.
I hope this is the case and I can have it shipped to my house and simply send the old one back. The only store near me is always busy and their staff is a PITA to deal with.
I do have an S7 to use as a backup but hate the small screen and I don't want to get a refund then have to wait for that to be put back on the card.
I am watching the V20 too. I might be out next week BUT we know how the G5 has issues and turned into a major flop. I'd hate leaving the Note and it ends up the V20 is a POS phone and stuck with a worse phone.
I just called them, they said bring it back to the store for a full refund or a new phone. Replacements aren't even available yet , why can't people just be competent, not asking for a genius, just basic competency.

You mean the reps? I think Tmobile is being pretty straight forward, so far compared to the other carriers who are not even really sure what to do yet. Overall though I hate the reps especially the ones in the stores. Most are clueless. The store basically says if you ordered it you have to go through Tmobile and the store won't issue a refund.
What problems did the G5 have?

I hear battery life and the modules some were reporting they become loose over time and durability issues too I've seen people talk about. Overall a crap device that was hyped a lot before launch. I don't want to get a v20 and it has issues and is a crap phone. At least with the Note I know what I'm getting.

The V20 is gonna be a monster. I actually owned the V10 and it was a power house. Very durable. V20 would be the only reason for me leaving Note 7

From a business perspective, this is not the result of incompetence. They know that trial lawyers are waiting around for the first Note 7 from T-Mobile to burn so they can hit them (and Samsung) with a class-action lawsuit. If that happens, the cost to T-Mobile will be huge, so they are trying to get the Note 7s back ASAP, even though they aren't ready for it. This is a totally unexpected event. They didn't stockpile alternate phones in the last few weeks in preparation for a bunch of people trading back their brand-new Note 7s.
They should allow a pre order replacement so not everyone is calling them or everyone going to the store at once when the new phones are available. It's gonna get chaotic.

Not returning mine. If it was going to blow up should have happened by now. Use original chargers ppl.

Thing is there is no official time line of events. Who knows how the failure works and when, not saying most will be affected but saying it hasnt happened yet isnt really concrete proof it wont ever happen.
Like the ring of death on the Xbox 360.
Also no phone should explode if you are using a different charger. Thats again a failure of the manufacturer

I'm a bit conflicted. Odds are there is nothing wrong with my battery, and otherwise this phone is perfect. Who knows if the replacement, rushed out in the next couple of weeks, will be as good.

Probably the same with mine, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, the rep I spoke with that was a supervisor said we have until the 30th to decide

I posted a similar post yesterday, I've seen it with HTC and Samsung where a few months into sales of a phone they seem to silently switch manufacturing to another vendor or use cheaper parts I guess to improve profits.....so my thought is now with this whole recall and it's cost to the bottom line will Samsung (A) Keep everything quality wise the same and take the full hit? or (B) Save every penny they can short of the battery pack? (i.e cheaper made camera parts from cheaper vendor etc)
You know someone on the boards the other day brought up a good point.
If the CPSC gets involved with this (as of now they are NOT) it will be illegal to sell a note 7 that has been recalled. So if you were going to sell your faulty Note 7 on ebay or something
it would be illegal.
So i would def get a replacement if you are planning to sell down the road.
My wife and I will trade ours in when they get the replacements in stock. We're not going to trade it in just quite yet.
its my understanding that T Mobile US might not be affected by the recall at all, and we all might not wind up needing new phones.
