Does your phone do this? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If you have auto brightness, adapt display and auto adjust screen tone off aswell as having brightness in browser and main settings all the way up does your phone go slightly dimmer when entering the stock browser? If someone could test this it would be brilliant! Thanks guys

i believe there's some settings you have to tick in the stock browser's settings

Do you mean the brightness and auto brightness in the browser? Brightness is at full and autobright off... take it your phone doesn't dim at all?

Browser brightness

Hi
It seems that the browser has its own brightness setting. This causes the brightness to change when you open/close the browser, since it is usually not in sync with the general brightness. Is there any way to either disable browser brightness, or keep it in sync with the general brightness setting?
Thanks!

When using auto brightness, the browser follows that and disables its own brightness setting.
But I do not know what happens when you switch to manual brightness then.

Adjust auto brightness

Is there anyway to adjust the brightness level of the auto brightness?
My problem is as follows: to save energy I usually set the brightness to the lowest level. If I want to use the tablet outside literally can't see anything because of that and have to go inside to adjust it. If I use auto brightness the brightness is to high though for most purposes. My ideal would be to use the brightness level the automatic mode sets minus 10% for example.

Great Idea! I would really luike that one too. I'm pretty shure that the option doesn't exist in standard roms. But maybe an app?
I thought about looking for apps a couple of minutes after I started this thread and was kind of embarrassed. However, I didn't find any that worked the way I want them to.
I stumbled over one here in the forum lux something, but I doesn't work with jelly bean I guess.
If you find one, please let me know

Lux auto brightness does exactly what I want. You can set up different screen brightness settings for different lux values. It's an awesome app, check it out

screen question?

Ive noticed when going from the home screen to the browser my screen goes a little dimmer and when I go back to the home it brightens back up also it does this on some apps.
I was wondering what could make it do that ? Auto is off and the brightness is all the way up .
im running mint jelly with fuax123 kernel .
Did you turn auto brightness off in the browser settings also?

Some apps have their own 'auto brightness setting'. Check the apps settings which are causing the fluctuation and see if there is a brightness setting.

I don't know about apps but open your browser and press the menu button, there you will see brightness. If its on auto, that is your problem.

K I checked that and its off also the apps and I couldn't find any with a brightness setting . It seems like the apps just dim a little and cant really tell if it goes back when going home but all the browsers have a slite dim its kinda like a fade and when exiting its like a instant back where it was . Hard to explain I guess.
Auto adjust screen tone under display settings turn it off and it will be fine.

Brightness in Profile settings

I mainly use cm roms in my E610 phone. You can fine adapt every aspect of the phone using profiles, but you can't change brightness. It would be very useful, if i select profile i.e. 'outside', i propably need more brightness than in profile 'night'.
Or am i missing something? I 'd be very happy if there is a workaround.

whats wrong with automatic brightness ?
it adjusts the brightness depending on conditions the phone is in
Automatic brigthness doesn't work on my E610 too. I'm on CM11.
I think this phone doesn't have that feature.
Why don't you try the status bar brightness control?, it's a easy way to quickly change screen brightness.
Regards.
Our phone doesn't support automatic brightness.
Slide upper screen limit is what I do, but I thought it would be useful brightness to be included in profiling. Just an idea.

how about battery saving app ?
like http://download-androidapkfiles.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/brightness-manager-root-1102-full-apk.html
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ijinshan.kbatterydoctor_en&hl=en
they are/have a kind of profiles called triggers
I'm using Screen Brightness app from Play Store. It has few options to config, e.g. you can put app to notification bar or/and set 5leveled switch. It's nice app, you should try it too
