Browser brightness - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi
It seems that the browser has its own brightness setting. This causes the brightness to change when you open/close the browser, since it is usually not in sync with the general brightness. Is there any way to either disable browser brightness, or keep it in sync with the general brightness setting?
Thanks!

When using auto brightness, the browser follows that and disables its own brightness setting.
But I do not know what happens when you switch to manual brightness then.

Automatic brightness adjustment?

Anyone know if there is a way to adjust the automatic brightness function - i.e. have it still be automatic, but be a little bright or darker for a given ambient light?
would really like to keep using it, but want my overall brightness turned down. using manual brightness with widget for now, but don't see why automatic brightness could not be tweaked. tried searching for an app to do this, but have not come up with anything. nothing came up in a google search of xda either. anyone got anything?
I want to know as well, I wouldn't mind setting the auto brightness to be more fine tuned as well, smaller changes.
Yes a better working app is needed. something like My Light or Lumos for winmo

[Q] problems with brightness setting Tmo TAB [maybe others]

has anyone noticed that in the web browser, brightness reduces to about 30%?
I have the setting on manual to about 70%; every time I go to the browser it automatically reduces the brightness [WTF] if I hit the home button it comes back to the previous setting I chose. if i use the quick bar and go to a recent app it automatically goes back to normal
also even though it reduces brightness in the browser if I use the quick brightness setting it still shows what I had it set to. If I choose the auto brightness setting and then switch to manual again it gets bright again but as soon as I browse to another page it goes to reduced brightness
The browser has a separate brightness setting, just hit the menu button in the browser, and there will be a brightness setting don't worry it threw me off at first too.

Adjust auto brightness

Is there anyway to adjust the brightness level of the auto brightness?
My problem is as follows: to save energy I usually set the brightness to the lowest level. If I want to use the tablet outside literally can't see anything because of that and have to go inside to adjust it. If I use auto brightness the brightness is to high though for most purposes. My ideal would be to use the brightness level the automatic mode sets minus 10% for example.

Great Idea! I would really luike that one too. I'm pretty shure that the option doesn't exist in standard roms. But maybe an app?
I thought about looking for apps a couple of minutes after I started this thread and was kind of embarrassed. However, I didn't find any that worked the way I want them to.
I stumbled over one here in the forum lux something, but I doesn't work with jelly bean I guess.
If you find one, please let me know

Lux auto brightness does exactly what I want. You can set up different screen brightness settings for different lux values. It's an awesome app, check it out

Apps can't control the Brightness

I have an odd problem. Until recently apps could control the screen brightness. For example my video player has a brightness gesture so I can manually set the Brightness while watching a video. However now, no matter what I do, I can't control the Brightness via third party apps. I can use Android's built-in brightness settings and auto brightness mode but no other app can control it. I really want to get this fixed since a I'd like to try the Lux Auto-Brightness app.
Any idea why this is happening? I'm running Android 4.1.2 Stock with Root.

Does your phone do this?

If you have auto brightness, adapt display and auto adjust screen tone off aswell as having brightness in browser and main settings all the way up does your phone go slightly dimmer when entering the stock browser? If someone could test this it would be brilliant! Thanks guys

Click to collapse
i believe there's some settings you have to tick in the stock browser's settings
Do you mean the brightness and auto brightness in the browser? Brightness is at full and autobright off... take it your phone doesn't dim at all?
