I just went to one and they don't carry SIMs. I went to a regular store and a repair center.

Google? Newegg? EBay? Amazon? Should I go on? Lol

Didn't know there was only one regular store and repair centre in the whole of Florida. How about calling Customer Service?

How do you lose a sim card? not like it can fall out on its own.
my dog did manage to chew up a tmobile sim I had minutes after I set it down on the table but I've never lost one.

What is the point of a sim card anyway? I tried to put my gf's sim in my phone and it kept telling me it was an invalid card.

Sprint UICC
Hi I am a Sprint Product Ambassador supporting the S4 and am here to help.
Any Sprint Service and Repair center should have replacement UICC/SIM. There is a $50 fee to replace a lost/stolen SIM.
The SKU is: 760492013536 CZ2102LWR.
Let me know if you have any questions.

better not be $50 thats insane.

50 bucks to replace a sim?! That's ridiculous! I don't know if gsm carriers charge for sim replacements but fifty dollars is robbery! I don't care what the excuse is, if they did charge 50 dollars for a replacement sim, 99.9% of that price is pure profit. I can't imagine a reasonable replacement price for a card being more than five dollars at the most.

It's probably $15 for the SIM and $35 activation charge. They will argue that there was absolutely no reason to remove the SIM in the first place.

They could at least take you out on a date first (wine and dine you) before sticking it to you. Sheesh....

Why did you take the sim out in the first place?

Isn't that like the double jeopardy law? You can't be charged again for a phone to be activated that has already been activated. If it was charged for activation, but the activation process didn't complete 100%, then how can they charge you again? Also, if a phone ESN has been activated, then the phone is known to the network. Just because a Sim is replaced, doesn't change the ESN. If they were trying to double charge you, then I'd go midevil on their collective butts.

It is insane but very true, when I lost my sim to my iphone 5 long story but anyways they wanted 50 for a replacement I laughed and just traded my 5 in for the s4 had an upgrade

I guess I got lucky. I got my S4 off eBay and it did not come with the SIM so I called and they are sending me one. They did not say anything about a $50 charge. Hopefully it does not just mysteriously show up on my bill.

A bit related (maybe unrelated) but I bought a used iPhone 5 that didn't come with a SIM, went to a Sprint store and they were going to charge me $50 for one. I let a tear or two roll down my big eyes and the manager took pity on me and my sob story and let me have one, just this one time.
I guess if you plead your case genuinely and they're compassionate enough you might be in luck.

[Q] Should I buy AT&T Refurbished? And SIM Question.

A refurbished Atrix is $99. Saving $100 is good. But is it riskier? Refurbished phones are just phones people return within 30-days because they don't like them, right? So I'd have to be pretty unlucky to get a dud, right? I'm just trying to verify my logic here.
Also, I'm planning to upgrade to an Atrix through my mom's line, then I'll just put my SIM into the phone and she'll keep her phone. Will this work? Or do you need some new SIM card for HSPA+ phones? My SIM is more than two years old.
Id say do it, even if you get a dud, you can go and swap it out
regarding the sim, i think you will have to change it, because most were getting a new sim with the atrix, it shouldnt be a problem tho.
Costco. IIRC, they have it at that price, or near it, and give a better warranty/return policy. And a free car charger and p.o.s. pouch holder thing....
I know that isn't really responsive to the post, but I hate to see people waste money.
And a new sim is not necessary.

I buy a lot of refurbed electronics and to this day they all still work flawlessly. Check amazon, Got mine for 150 there brand spanking new. Regarding the sim-You will get a new sim with the phone and Att is very lenient about upgrades. My bro used my mothers upgrade to get an atrix so he could get rid of his iphone 4. He had unlimited data on his line and my mother did not have a data plan. they allowed him to use her upgrade and still attach it too his line with unlimited data. The atrix is a flagship device, they are willing to work with you. I recommend going to an actual store, makes the process easier.
Edit: They did however say it was necessary to used the new sim. I tried the one from my blackberry and it worked fine but, Att insisted i used the new sim. Might as well use the new one, doesnt make the process any harder. The sim is slightly different than older ones.
It's 99 at Radio Shack new. They we're running a deal for lapdock with purchase, but unsure of that n e more.
[Edit] agree with above post. Sim is no extra, at least at radio shack, and just just enter the sim 8901new bla bla number instead of your old 8901 sim number into att portal. Not trolling but one of my jobs is radio shack. Got the atrix n lapdock outright for 700 and unlimited everything for 20 a month so if u know anyone who works there the price is probably even lower =D

There are SIMs that don't support HSPA+. They are pretty old though. It's best just to get a new SIM rather than worry about it. They are free with each new phone anyway. At&t doesn't have any LTE tech out there yet, even SIMS chips.
Keep in mind that refurb phones only carry a 90 day warranty as well.

It definitely wouldn't hurt to get a new free sim. Mine was a year and a half old and had been in an iphone and nexus one... I'm about 90% sure that for some reason I was having some data connectivity issues because of it. At least, customer support said to replace it and the issue magically went any.
Besides, no real reason not to get a new one.

I just had a "duh" moment. SIM cards are blank until you activate them. So even though I'll order the phone through my mom's upgrade, I can just activate the new SIM on my line. Duh. Never mind that question.
Both Radioshack and Amazon are offering the phone for $149 new. I think I'll go through Amazon just because I like Amazon.
Thanks for the replies, guys! Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

EDIT: Nevermind, just checked the Radioshack site. It'd be $269.99 for me. Wow.
A refurbed "anything" may have just been returned because someone didn't like it, or because it wasn't working. Either way it is supposed to get completely tested, repaired if necessary, and confirmed 100% working before it goes back out. So if a company is doing this properly you get a 100% tested and working phone. Except...
The new phone usually has a one year warranty, the refurb sometimes only 30 days. What's a warranty worth?
And no one will answer if you ask them whther you're getting an old used battery, or a new one, in a refurbed phone.
A refurb can be a bargain is there's some warranty and the price is right.
But if you buy the phone on your Mom's account, remember that price is usually only good if the phone is activated on her account, with a data plan, within 30? days. And she's going to keep paying that plan+data rate even if she stops using the phone. And contract renewal, if they require one.
Now when you put your SIM in the phone, AT&T will also charge you a smartphone rate, once they recognize the phone. You may or may not already be paying this, but they don't support all plans for all phones, so they may change your plan.

Considering I can get it for only $149 new, I'd say the much longer warranty is woth the extra cost. And brand new is brand new.
My mom has an iPhone 3GS, so she already has data; that won't be a surprise. Of course, me using her upgrade will throw out her unlimited data. But she hardly uses 100MB a month anyway; it'll actually save her money. I'll then get a DataPro 2GB plan on my line for the Atrix.
But are you saying that she'll have to actually use the Atrix on her line for the upgrade price to remain valid? I hope not. I thought that once you have the phone in your hand, you can do with it whatever you want.
I would agree that the longer warranty is well worth the additional vost.
You can activate the phone on your line using her upgrade. Also, she does not need to lose her unlimited data and you can get it for yourself if you have access to an iphone 2g.
"But are you saying that she'll have to actually use the Atrix on her line for the upgrade price to remain valid?"
I don't think they care is she uses it, but they will make her pay whatever the "Atrix plan price" is, i.e. a minimum data plan and possibly a minimum minute plan as well. IF she's already paying the "Atrix rates" they won't care.
That's what I've been given to understand, but your mileage with AT&T apparently varies with whoever actually activates things. One rep said I couldn't keep my old misers' voice plan I'd have to upgrade, another one said "You're good to go" with no changes. Either the reps are inept, FOS, or just plain nuts.
All you can do is do the upgrade in person, ask the rep about any rate/plan changes, and see what happens.

Check best buy they had it for 99$. You can use your mom's upgrade and then switch the phones around by calling customer service, you wont loose unlimited data. I just did this same thing

Whoa, thanks for the heads up! Best Buy still has it for $99.
Honestly, I don't really care about keeping unlimited data. My mom doesn't need it, I never had it, and I have no access to a 1st Gen iPhone. Whatever happens with that happens.
I think I'm set for information.

I mean its pretty much a given that the phone is going to be around $499.. radio shack is selling it full retail for $499, Amazon for $469 so Im guessing sprint will be in the $450-499 range. But I dont get why theyre the ONLY people that HAVENT given a full retail price yet considering its a damn Sprint phone.
Nice I'll have to check that out on line
Does anyone have any idea how long Sprint usually offers its buyback price? I'm curious how long the price will hold.
I've searched on google for answers specifically about sprint buy back of the evo 4g and this was unfortunately the closest i could find. Anyway, here are my questions. Thanks in advanced.
1. Am I assured $150 for my phone or do "they" determine the value an give you an amount they choose. I'm skeptical of actually getting the full amount.
2. Can I keep the micro sd card and charging cable? That'd be awesome if so.

All you need to send them is the phone. You keep everything else.
I've read in other forums that they give you a flat 150 dollars as long as the phone powers on. But I'm not positive.
Hmm... ok, cool. Thanks.
I went into Radioshack today, and they said I can call Sprint, because they'll push my upgrade to 1 year early (for a limited time though) and I can buy the 3D for $199, or if I sell my phone to them (Radioshack) it'll only cost me $50

[Q] What to ask ATT for a sim?

I just bought an unlocked Nexus 4, but am currently on a non-data plan with ATT. After I attempt to cut my regular size sim card and fail, I'll have to head down to the ATT store. The thing is, I would like to try and leave data off on my phone and not add data to my plan, and use my Nexus like this until my contract is up and I can switch to T-Mobile. My question is, what can I tell the ATT rep to get them to give me a micro sim without them wanting to see the phone I'm going to stick it in and subsequently add data to my plan?
What I do with Rogers here, I just go in and ask to buy a microsim. Take it home and call in and say you want to update you iccid(number on sim card). If they ask why on the phone I say I damaged my old one and bought a new one. If they ask in store why I just say I am buying one for a friend
Do you know how much they will charge? From searching around, they would likely give me on for free if I can word it right...

I have att. I just went into the store and said I need a microsim and without any questions or concerns the guy just proceeded to give me one so I think you should be fine. Unless micro sim is exclusive to smart phones, they aren't going to ask to see your new phone.

ATT wanted $26 for a new SIM from me. So I walked over to the T mobile store and bought one for like 10 by buying 3 pay as you go days worth. I then used that Sim as template to cut down my old att Sim with a kitchen knife.
If I wasn't on the cheep with a family plan on ATT I'd be on T-Mobile in a heartbeat.
P
Just say you need a new sim that's what I did and go it for free.
Just a heads up AT&T does regular IMEI sweeps. They also have the play store Nexus 4's IMEIs on file as smartphones so eventually they'll force a data plan on you.

Don't have ATT, but the other day when I got the phone I just went to the T-Mobile store and they had a little tool that will cut your sim to a microsim for you

Free Galaxy Note 3......I'll take that!

Went to At&t retail store on the way home to pick up my Note 3....went thought the check out process with the Att rep and came to pay and she said "Well I guess its free". She had the manager come over and check and he said the same thing. Oh well good for me I guess...LOL :good:. And I high fived the rep as I left.
Yes I used my 2 year upgrade to get it. Also it was also a business account and it was not charged to the account (I checked)
Oh well just thought I would share....
Oh ya and I had to do some extra work to keep my unlimited data since they try to remove it no matter what now....I had to call 611 and have them reapply during the switch over to the new phone.

Ya I didn't want to add that to my companies monthly bill!
Are you sure it was free? There is a program called next where the sales tax is charged at point of sale and then an installment plan is added for 20 months...
There is also a bug right now at Corp stores where sometimes sales tax is not charged on a transaction...
I'm a great salesman and part of being one is knowing every deal and offer... that's the only way I know where the note would be free.
Don't get me wrong I love the next program but this sounds like possible bait and switch...
If this happened to you, you will notice a 35 dollar increase in you bill and a lack of the standard upgrade fee.
Trust me, I am a retail sales person at a Corp store. It sounds like they signed you up for next which is an installment plan that raises bill. It gives a one year upgrade option but it should only be sold to someone that wants it.

I called AT&T, instead of the insurance company. First time (headphone jack), the rep said it was still under AT&T's warranty. Second time (water damage), the rep said it would be a pain to go through the insurance company & they could replace it , but would have to charge the deductible. I asked could he waive it. He checked with the manager & he ok'd it, even sent the replacement overnight.

That makes more sense. I've never had an issue getting a phone replaced within a year from AT&T, some had physical damage to the housing. Water damage would be pretty iffy, but as long as you have documentation, I don't see how they can charge you. I've never paid for insurance, so I don't have experience with that process.
This thread has run its course. Clerical and pricing errors don't happen every day, congrats OP on a legit free device.

JUMP Upgrade vs Regular Upgrade

So I preordered mine over the phone thinking I was using my JUMP upgrade and inquired about my return label to send back my s5 and they told me they didn't do JUMP upgrades on the phone, it was treated as a regular upgrade. She told me I didn't have to send my phone back and could keep both so long as I continue to pay for both EIP.
I only have $300 left on it so I plan to pay it off and then sell it for $400-450. Talk about lucky (after a not so lucky preorder with the note 4). Anybody else have this happen to them? I'm wondering why JUMP is even worth it then if I can just finance the phone, upgrade whenever, and then sell the old one to pay off the EIP.

Jump is also your insurance. Pretty valuable when talking about EIPs

Wouldn't it be more economical to do square trade or whatever it's called instead of paying $10/mo.
Meh, considering it's an $800 phone if it even looks at me wrong I'd use jump to warranty it.

From what I can tell, JUMP is pretty much only a good option for people who don't want to go through the hassle of selling their phones.
i had the same thing happen to me. when i first joined tmobile i got the nexus 5 coming from a sprint note 2. the screen was just too small for me and i wanted to trade it in, but wasn't eligible to jump for another 2 months. the lady at the t-mobile store got me a note 3 and just added the EIP to my account. i then sold the N5 and paid it off. the best part was i was able to jump at my original 6 month anniversary and not 6 months from the note 3 purchase.
Just got my note 4 and need to send back my m8. Wanted to know if tmobile only needed the phone or do they also need the accessories that came with it? I want to keep the extra charger. Thanks.

Square trade? Isn't that the Costco thing? Or is that just square trade hooking up with Costco to do a deal thing... but anyways the reason I am going to get JUMP is because of the accidental protection but it does come with things like theft tracking and the upgrade thing which I don't know if I am going to use those *shrug*
but if there is more accidental coverage companies out there I would like to know, I know of the Samsung deal where you pay like $100 for like a year or something but the sdevice turn in is like $75 instead of like $50 for jump I think I look it up again

You can buy a square trade warranty online as long as it's been less than 30 days since you bought the phone. It's $99 for 2 years coverage but the deductible is $75. It won't pay your EIP off but you can get it fixed locally and they'll reimburse you or do overnight shipping for repairs/replacements. It covers all kinds of accident and damages but does not cover theft which is why it's cheaper. You gotta send a device back to get a fix or replacement.
The jump deductible is $175. I would only see it being beneficial for a stolen phone replacement/upgrade. Other than that I think ST is a better deal.

thanks. I forgot to mention I did my jump online. so they sent me the prepaid envelope and was trying to figure out if I should just put just the phone or the phone in the box into the envelope and send it out. I did my 1st jump in store so I did what u did but I gave them the original box and all the other accessories.

1. What's EIP again? Haha sorry...
2. So Square Trade seems so much better... thanks for replying and info I will look into that!
3. Also this might be off topic sorry if so just pm the answer I guess... but how does stolen devices like phones work say you don't have the theft protection you just what file a report with local authorites and “they'll watch out for it” granted you probably have like the IMEI, serial numbers etc... and if they do find it you get it back yeah? Haha

EIP equipment installation plan (if you finance your phone).
I had my s4 stolen in April (good excuse to upgrade to s5!) and passed along my IMEI to the police. They report it to a database that pawn shops use to prevent sales. You can report it to Tmo to block it from being used on Tmo but unfortunately, they can flash it to other carriers and sell it through other means such as Craigslist or Ebay. Never got my stuff back

How was the JUMP process online?
I am thinking about doing it. Was it easy?

simple and easy just follow the steps and sign the new eip agreement, checkout and pay whatever fees then have to wait for it to be shipped. Didn't have to deal with a retail sales person.

Finance the phone?... you mean the monthly charges if you didn't pay for the phone fully? If so yeah I expected to pay that even if I didn't have the phone (physically) lol...
Anyways yeah that sucks but I just read an article about top things note 4 users should do when they get their phone and the first thing was to set the android device manager or something but it can be used for locate your device and also you can do other things like reset pin, full wipe, etc.. but my favorite make your phone ring for up to 5 minutes loudly so you can annoy the thief(s) xD but really the location of the device should come in handy if you do it right away don't wait like a day or something you know, ASAP when you lose your phone

They offer non-jump insurance for $2 less than jump. I had to remind them of that when they twice tried to Jump me without my consent.
I was able to jump my LG G3 to note 4 even though I only have my LG G3 for 2 months(paying monthly btw). I thought I have to wait every 6 months or pay half the price. Good thing I asked about my availability date to JUMP!!. Can't wait for my Note 4. back-ordered
No with JUMP, you can upgrade whenever you want. T-mobile will only pay for half of the phone that you're turning in. If you didn't pay for half of the phone then you'll have two EIPs on your account.
