Now that there are some new roms out for I9505 I want to start testing
If a custom ROM removes some apps such as S voice, S translator, How do I install it back after the installation of the custom Rom?
Thanks
Get the apk and install it. Or copy to system/app to make it a system app.

Softmod roms are usually existing roms but with new features installed (Built in apps, themes) You basically install the themes and apps (apps need to go into /system/app) and other enhancements then back up your ROM in clockwork, then post the system.img, boot.img and nandroid.md5 files so people can install your ROM. (Thats one way of doing it )
Hope it helps,

Yup, I know this method. But is there any way to get DSIXDA's kitchen working properly?
i dont think that kitchen will work because its not for are phone?? hot shore.
to build a custom rom:
1) install the apps you want on the system normally
2)using root explorer move the apk files from /data/app to /system/app
3) reboot the phone
TIPS:
not all apps work in the system partition
use cyanogen backupper to take your added system apps from one rom to another(or and update)
download titanium backup from applanet to merge apps updates with the system
well why not use a Virtual Box?
Thanks for your replies,
But one more question. How do I De-odex my 2.1 stock ROM if DSIXDA's kitchen doesn't work?
Stright to questions..
If I want to remove some stock apps in custom ROM, can I just extract the ROM file and go to \system\app then remove the apps that I don't need then compress back to zip file?
Or any other file need to edit? Please advise.
Other question:
I would like to remove all Google apps (Gmail, Gtalk, map, etc) except for Android market, what file should I delete?
Thanks..
easiest way i know is either using titanium backup pro or bloatware freezer apps from the market
Ok,I have app in one rom that I want to transfer to another rom (installed on hd2),how can I do that?
I tried this-on my PC pulled apk file from rom, then connected hd2 via usb and copy that apk file to sd.Then with root explorer transfered apk to system/apps and after that tryed to install apk by clicking on it and all I get is Aplication not installed.
Help?
Try Titanium Backup (from google play/market)
Install Titanium Backup on both Roms, back up the app(s) from ROM 1, restore to Rom 2.
I use "android assistant" for that purpose But f it came default with the ROM it will not make a backup of it.
give the link a try
- How not to Google Play when using diffrent roms so as not to always go to Google Play or if data/ wifi is not available.

Hello. Is there any chance to pull an apps from any rom and push it in your rom
I tried to change the original dailer Samsung to the dalier from miui rom and another rom but I can not doing that. try by root explorer with all steps
Any one have an idea for that
Hi.
Can somebody explain to me how i can install a ROM, and choosing not to install certain apps that come with it.
For example, i want to install AospExtended, but it comes with AOSP-versions of calendar, clock, dialer etc.
I wish to use the Google-versions instead.
If i just install the ROM with GAPPS, i get both Google and AOSP versions of the aforementioned apps.
If i then uninstall the AOSP versions, the GAPPS versions do not work properly.
Thanks in advance.:good:
You can use the OpenGapps Aroma installer to replace the stock apps or use your own advanced config file to remove stock versions of apps. The Aroma installer is the easier way but creating a config file isn't too difficult

Excellent, that was what i was looking for, editing the config file. Thanks!
Your other way is to use Titanium Backup, amazing app in which you can easily freeze or remove unwanted apps. As long as you are rooted you can remove any unwanted apps.
