[Q] Removing some stocks apps di custom ROM - Blade General

Stright to questions..
If I want to remove some stock apps in custom ROM, can I just extract the ROM file and go to \system\app then remove the apps that I don't need then compress back to zip file?
Or any other file need to edit? Please advise.
Other question:
I would like to remove all Google apps (Gmail, Gtalk, map, etc) except for Android market, what file should I delete?
Thanks..

easiest way i know is either using titanium backup pro or bloatware freezer apps from the market

Need help..Accidentally deleted an app

So I just updated from the leaked .13 froyo to OTA. As I was restoring apps and removing bloatware through Titanium Backup, I deleted the "Accounts" application. I thought it would remove the icon from the application drawer, which it did. However, now when I go to Settings > Accounts, I get a force close; also, the sync icon remains in my status bar. Can anyone either send me the apk, or the backup files from titanium??
Thanks in advance!

Is your phone deodexed or not?? I ask because if it is... you need a deodexed Account apk.
Can someone please explain deodex-ing please.
Look for chadhaney(. Com). Sorry for the (), I'm a new user and can't post links. Look for droid x default and it has downloads for all the stock apps.
This is the page i use to reinstall bloatware/system apps. After you download, it will save to your sd card.

In simple terms... deodexed is making your phone available to be themed. It removes all of the .odex files in the system/framework and system/app and combine them with their corresponding .apk
In a stock phone you will have as an example Camera.apk & Camera.odex. If you deodex your phone, the two .apk and .odex will be combined into one Camera.apk.
That is also how to check if your system is deodexed or not... look in your system/app & system/framework folders and if you do not see any .odex, then you are deodexed and ready for themes.
Sounds like you are not deodex so just follow what Lt1demon says.

Removing Applications

I rooted with Z4Root, and now I'm trying to replace my flash with a modified .apk. Can anyone run me through on how to remove the already installed programs that came stock on the device? For instance flash....
Titanium backup will do it. Also root explorer and a host of other apps on the market.
Be careful though, as some stock Alps have no apks and wont get backed up - the only way to reinstall will be to flash!
Thank you!

Evo 4g stock files?

I deleted a few of my stock files with titanium backup pro. When I try to restore them, TBP just keeps saying restoring app+data & the status icon keeps spinning.
Is there a place I can download the stock apps I removed?
Thanks
You could probably find a stock ROM that matches your version in the development forum that you could get the apps from. It does not matter if you get a rooted version of the ROM. You just want to get the odexed stock ROM that you can get the apx and odex files to replace the ones that you have removed.
You are not supposed to remove stock system files, you are supposed to freeze them. You will probably have to reflash the rom to get those files back.
You can remove the system files if you are sure that you will never need them again. Freezing them is a way of preventing them from running without actually removing them... useful for testing to see if removing the program causes any unforeseen problems.
If you have removed a file and now have changed your mind about not wanting it (i.e. Now that it is football season you find that you really do want Sprint NFL back) it is also possible to get it back without reflashing. You can extract the apk and odex (if any) out of the stock ROM and place them back in system\app. I have done this with Root Explorer. Make sure that you set the permissions back (to 644) after copying the files.

Which stock are you running? 4.53, 4.24, 4.22, 3.70?
And which apps?

Cannot find some preinstalled in \system\app after upgrade to ICS and rooting

Dear all,
Yesterday I updated my P7510 to ICS using the UK ICS release and rooted the thing properly. I managed to delete some of the preinstalled apps using RootExplorer in the \system\app folder, but for example I cannot find the apk to get rid of Pulse (what is the name of the apk in this case). Is it located somewhere else or is there another folder in which apps are stored as well? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Although I can help you with the location, manually deleting the apps from /system/app seems like to much "work". Just get Titanium Backup and uninstall (and probably backup first) Pulse and all the other via the app.
Thanks for your reply. In the mean time I kicked out all unwanred preinstalled apps manually, so I am only looking for the apk name of pulse
I found that some apps were just "Installed" have you tried to just uninstall them?

Not all apps are installed to /system/apps when you ODIN flash, check /data/app for the Pulse.

[Q] (Q) Deleting stock apps

I have the superuser icon on the phone after i rooted a while back and could never figure out how to take stock apps that serve no purpose on my phone off. Just do not know the process on how to do it. Any help would be great!
Use a file exporter with root access (my personal favorite is Root Browser included in ROM Toolbox.) Navigate to System/Apps and delete the apk and odex files of the apps you don't need. I think there are root uninstallers that do the same thing but I'm not sure. I almost always use a custom ROM such as Cyanogenmod that doesn't ever have s lot of bloatware pre installed.

Here is a list that I use to freeze/delete apps when I run a stock ROM.
