[Q] How to install default Gingerbread Launcher?

I installed a new Rom, but it came with ADWLauncher, and i really don't like it. I want to install the default gingerbread launcher. ADW drains my battery so fast, and it is slower than default. What should I do?
Its risky to explain. Because i dont know wich rom you use. But be warned, you can broke your nand install. Then you need install again your rom. Make backup before go to froward.
This is only for gingerbread version.
1. Download rootexplorer at market and install it.
Open root explorer and go to /system/app folder.
Look did you have Launcher2.apk (on gingrbread rom) there. If yes, then go forward to step 2.
If no, download attached file and extraxt it. Copy extracted file to sd somewhere. Then with rootexplorer copy this file to /system/app folder.
Go to step 2.
2. Delete the ADWLauncher.apk.
Dont try go back to home screen. Right there where you are (rootexplorer opened on /system/app) press power button and go to reboot.
Enjoy, if all was gone right!
Thank you! will try asap
I'm using TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 v2.3 ROM. As soon as I can I will try it. I'll post the results. Thank you so much.
Go to settings, applications, manage applications and find ADW launcher. Clear the defaults for the app and then press the home button. You should be offered the choice of launchers that are installed on your phone. Set whatever you want as default and just never use the other(s).
This obviously doesn't get rid of any applications, so you can switch between launchers as much as you like.

when you put something in system/app you don`t "run" them.
just reboot the phone. the apk will be installed automatically.

I have tried few of the steps for copy and paste the Vending.apk in /system/apps and changing its permissions but this doesnt help much.
Whenever I am trying to launch Market, its running in the backend but interface doesnt comes up.
Any one who can help me to fix my Android Market in ICS Beta ROM??
Thanks
Guys its sorted now problem was with sdcard
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
just try other moded ics rom, like ka06 ics rom, my current rom
I had the same issue with you and couldn't find solution, so i returned to stock 2.3.4.
I will be following this topic and hope you will find solution.
Hi the problem was with Sdcard.
After installing the ICS Beta, I took backup of each file and folder from my sdcard into a folder on my computer.
Format the SDCARD using the option available in the ROM.
Copy the required ZIP files back to Sdcard. Then you will be able to install any ZIP or New ROM from the SDcard.

[Q] Apps from rom to rom

Ok,I have app in one rom that I want to transfer to another rom (installed on hd2),how can I do that?
I tried this-on my PC pulled apk file from rom, then connected hd2 via usb and copy that apk file to sd.Then with root explorer transfered apk to system/apps and after that tryed to install apk by clicking on it and all I get is Aplication not installed.
Help?
Try Titanium Backup (from google play/market)
Install Titanium Backup on both Roms, back up the app(s) from ROM 1, restore to Rom 2.
I use "android assistant" for that purpose But f it came default with the ROM it will not make a backup of it.
give the link a try
- How not to Google Play when using diffrent roms so as not to always go to Google Play or if data/ wifi is not available.

Install S voice when Custom Rom doesn't have it

Now that there are some new roms out for I9505 I want to start testing
If a custom ROM removes some apps such as S voice, S translator, How do I install it back after the installation of the custom Rom?
Thanks
Get the apk and install it. Or copy to system/app to make it a system app.
