Just found this and wanted to share.
Arc & Neo ICS updates out today.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/05/2...eo-android-4-0-ics-updates-start-rolling-out/
On a side note I thought I read somewhere that the Arc is a common ROM to be ported to Xperia PLAY.....this true?
Anyway just sharing.
Yes, it is true.

Wohoo, this sounds promising, it sounds like my first try to port a ROM ever here, since I really want a ICS-ROM for Xperia Play, but only if the android version is 4.0.4 then, otherwise, it will not get better And after that I will try to get everything to work as well
it seems that the latest Xperia Pro ICS firmware has been leaked!
The sony devs better pray that it runs like crap on our phones because I cant imagine them looking worse than they do right now
If devs port this rom to the Play, get TouchPads working with all the touchpad games and I'll retract every ICS is bad for the Play comment I've made recently

Which is.... pretty much impossible. The dev's need to update the games.

But we'll need a kernel won't we?

If it wasn't for the custom roms, I would feel like crap for buying this phone (Xperia Play). At least, there are some decent roms out there.
Anyway, it is a shame that Sony hasn't released, at least, the sources, or have they?

ICS is great for us who pretty much just use the pad for emulators. Emulators work fine in ICS, and you get all the niceties (sadly the rotation animation is way up there on my list).
I could care less if Sony released an update or not, I'm still able to get a damn fine ICS experience with the aokp rom.

CDMA users definitely need something.
Not sure if this question has been answered yet or if there's already something in the works.
Has anyone heard or know of a Sense ROM thats being ported to the N4?
I do prefer AOSP over Sense any day but I love variety and switch it up up every now and then. Not to mention that I would love to see how the N4 handles it with its 4 cores and all..
Feel Free to post any Links, Rumors, Opinions, and/or leads on other similar topics.
With release of HTC M7 around the corner hopefully that will strike a match on Sense for N4!!
Thanks for your interst.
It would take an enormous amount of effort from a developer and there's pretty much no demand. So no there won't be a sense rom.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes it's totally possible. G1, G2, and Nexus one all had Sense roms despite being shipped with Vanilla Android. Sadly no devs here appear interested in porting Sense but, hopefully they'll port Sense 5.0. My only concern is that all the devices I mentioned I had were HTC and well they shared drivers with sister devices and this could mean a port will be challenging...

I believe you are incorrect. There is a demand for the sense rom. ATM their is not a version we can port effectively until sense 5 drops.

Lucky for you, no one is forcing you to. I've seen a lot of useless, provocative comments, but yours was special.
Don't get your hopes up. The Galaxy Nexus got a Sense 4 ROM but it was pre alpha and the project stopped fairly quickly as there wasn't much demand. (I mean, this is a Nexus, amirite???? AOSP is what most people want)

What ppl don't understand is that it's nice having options. Sure a majority of ppl prefer AOSP over Sense, but if one gets bored they have something new to try out & tweak. Whether it's Sense, TouchWiz, or MotoBlur.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
The Nexus one had the same hardware as the HTC desire, barring different partitions and trackball. It was easy to port sense for that thing. Will be a lot harder on this phone.

It may be so but if a developer won't get as much audience compared AOSP then there's not much point in continuing and refining the ROM (squashing bugs etc). I wouldn't mind using a Sense port, and there is a good chance someone will take on the challenge, but it will likely get close to using as a daily driver.
*not get close. Lol sorry

Hey guys is there a touchwiz ux launcher for our n10?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260823
You'll have to resize it for our resolution yourself, however. It looks horrid (aka small).
I never heard of anyone that wanted to ADD touchwiz. Thats like saying I want to add cancer to myself lol

Well, just the launcher at the moment, I like the way it scrolls and what not. What makes touchwiz heavy is the framework correct?

Correct. It IS heavy, file size-wise and ram-wise, but Touchwiz UX Nature flies. My S3, at least at the homescreen, flies compared to AOSP. It's just smooth. Sadly it's ram-heavy so you'll much easier get a slow phone. My S3 nor N10 have never been slow with AOSP.
Would be much cooler if someone ported a Galaxy Note 10.1 rom. :victory: I remember porting the tab 10 rom to TF101. Fun times.

I agree. I got a galaxy tab 2 7 inch for my cousin and I actually like the launches look and transitions though I prefer the aosp settings do handling a touchwiz launcher would be great. Zerosuit made a miui5 launcher compatible with nexus 10 so maybe when he gets better he can make a touchwiz one.

It's gonna be a stock based (not gonna touch boot cuz already bricked and sent to Samsung once) but I'm going to try and theme it like the Xperia z because I love that interface.

So I just saw that the Sony Z Play edition is now available. I can't confirm because the Play Store Link isn't usable in my country.
If this is true does it mean we can pull the core rom from the the Sony Z edition and use it to help CM etc?
It's only the Z Ultra. And yes, Z Ultra GPE software will run on the Z Ultra without modifications. Will also really speed up Z1 development. For the Z there's not that much of an advantage.
I can only find mention of a Google edition Z Ultra, not a Z.

Nope, and there's not much point. The Z is very easy to develop for (there already are fully stable KitKat builds) and has a lot of hardware that's similar to the Nexus 4 which helps a huge lot.

I have the t mobile xperia z and I was hoping that because its a stock rom from sony the bootloader can be locked cause its same kernel and stuff from sony.
made sense to just be able to flash it.
it sucks there is no international LTE version that suits the US t mobile with unlockable bootloader.
I talked to sony and they say t mobile locked the bootloader which doesn't make sense!
maybe I should do a warranty exchange and talk to sony before hand and ask to get another with LTE and unlockable bootloader.
