Battery charging issue - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I Know there is technology is our battery for the accelerated charging but yesterday my phone started taking forever to charge. Normally it would go from 0 to 100% in approximately 1 1/2 hours. Has this been happening to anyone else? Any remedies?

What do you mean by accelerated charging?

Same cable and charger?

I know on the KT kernel, i see the option for fast charging. Are you running stock?

Do I need to charge properly first time use?

Or I can I have a look at it first without charging for four hours or will that ruin the battery?
Possibly a stupid question I apologise

It depends what you are doing.
Download better battery stats (from xda) or wake lock detector from the play store to see of you have an app that is draining the battery

If the phone is just idle than no, I lose around 4% over 8 hrs when the phone is idle if that's any help. I also try to clear out the active apps via clear memory as this seems to be the only true way to stop a active app.

that's not normal unless you have your screen on for the majority of that time. I usually get 16 hours of battery life with 3.5 - 4 hours of screen time each day. I have wifi, bluetooth, and all gestures on with screen brightness at max. This suits my needs.
2- 3 % a hour on sleep.about 10% which screen on.
2-3% over 8 hours idle
Any phone with a 5 inch screen using LTE ain't gonna last.. I don't care what you try doing to it. Go on ebay and pick up a few extra batteries and chargers. It's was easier and you don't have to worry about battery drain as much

You may have something running. I know the phone can get hot at times due to the quad core CPU. If you hold down the home button you can swipe apps to kill them from running in the background. Holding the home button down for awhile brings up the task manager.

Thanks, I kill all the app like that, also have betterbatterystats and nothing seems to be out of order. the proble it's worst when I put the phone on my pocked.
mine does NOT get hot, or even that warm (screen on in use gets warmer than phone/battery during charging), i have UV'd the CPU *slightly* but it should not get 'hot'. maybe check out Temp+CPU and see how hot its running. Im usually around 31C, same as battery.

Sorry about that kenny, by the way, I found the problem, it was my sd card, all I did was format the card twice and the overheating is gone..

Phone locked after chargin

Anyone have an issue with the phone locking after charging?
I'm rooted but stock. Occasionally while my phone is charging for an extended period, the phone locks up. The notification light blinks or still works, but the phone won't turn on until I pull the battery.
I have removed a few apps using titanium, but no crazy apps.
I have the same problem as well, only difference is that I'm running a custom rom with most of the bloatware removed. Makes me wonder if the reboots are caused by the an app that was removed.

Just got my GS4

Hey everyone! just upgraded to a GS4 from my old GS2 so far I'm loving this phone! but I have had a few concerns.. does anyone else notice their phone is warmer than others? I don't remember my GS2 getting warm under regular use.. the first device i got was getting really warm even when the screen was off so i exchanged that and the new device runs much better but still warmer than my old GS2.
also what kind of battery life are you guys getting? on stock I get about 12-13 hours of moderate use or 6-8 hours of heavy use.
I would say your battery life is about average, but may get a little better after 5 or so full charging cycles.

Thanks for the replies guys. Which method should I use for rooting? I'm on MF9 now, is it safe to use the method in qbking's video? He mentions its for MDL but does not say anything about MF9.
It works on MF9. If uiu read the last 5 pages you would have seen that.
