Hello everyone, I have a new nexus 7 and love it, but it seems to take way too long to charge. After a full discharge, my tablet takes more them 24 hours to charge. I have drained my battery twice to the point that my nexus powers off. Then I plug in, some back after more then a nights rest and still not fully charged? Not sure what'd going on, but this does not seem normal....

are you plugging it in a usb or a wall charger? usb will take much longer.
I am using the wall charger adapter and cord which came with the nexus...

try a different outlet or a different charger? to make sure its not the n7 that's having an issue.
Great idea! I should have thought of that, now I feel like a retard....lol

I'm in the same boat. It makes no sense. I've called Google Play support once already because it randomly died at over 30%. This last time I was using it I was at I assume over 20% since the battery level wasn't red and then it made the noise that battery was low and then turned off. What is the proper way to calibrate a battery since there are 90 million different ways if you search Google. I am running stock, rooted 4.1.1 btw. The last person's suggestion and lols following are not uncommon nowadays on xda, we just need some real solutions, thanks.
I feel my Nexus 7 is slow to charge, but it does do so overnight.
When plugged in to the charger and cord provided by google/asus, under Settings/Battery it says it is charging(AC), though once it did say charging (usb).
Hey Guys,
I have been following this thread since a while and finally took the plunge with the S3.
it was a blue s3 and i loved it.
All stock, not rooted nothing..
So i was downloading my games and apps the first day all went well
the second night, i bought NOVA 3, and put it for charge while downloading the 1.7 gb data for the game over wifi.
i woke up in the morning and the phone is dead, it shows a yellow connect it to kies message.
I dont know what happened?
took it to the service center, they tried re-installing the firmware, but no avail. finally told me they have to replace the motherboard it was fried.
I fought with them and managed to get a replacement unit which im gonna get on monday.
The ordeal aside, i want to know, is it possible this happened because i downloaded too many games(6 actually)
each with about 400 mb data.
can a phone get bricked if i download nova 3's data of 1.6 gb
cause i am going to get all my games again.
so help with the solution!!
probably a 1 off defective unit.
You left it charging overnight right, have you considered a power surge may have fried it?
It's better to wake up early in the morning and put it on charge than to leave it overnight.
Sorry about your loss though.

Not true. Modern mobile batteries like s3' have overcharge guard

To answer your question, you just had a defective unit that's all.

I think heating was the problem... I remember few guys with sgs2 with same problem reporting..

I don't think the game's could do anything wrong to you while downloading.
Btw while playing games on SIII take care as the Phone's temperature reaches the sky and literally i have to close down the game because the phone becomes too hot.

power surge and over charge are totally different things. over charge protection would not prevent a power surge.
Most probably just a defective unit.
I left my HTC Sensation charging overnight once, and somehow there was an app running continuously and when I woke up the phone was scalding hot to touch. I freaked out and pulled the battery and let the whole thing cool before I booted it up again. Might not be relevant but just goes to show that our phones can take more heat than we think.

Well I have been charging my handsets overnight for at least 6 years now and I have never had a fried nokia, hero, desire, sgs2 or sgs3 ever.
Charging overnight is safe

yeah , modern batterys not like old batterys
Hey guys ...
As you know this beloved phone has Li-polymer battery and I remember that once I had read that this kind of batteries have this possibility that for example even if they are not fully discharged, we can connect them to charger and it does not damage them and so on.
Is this true? Do you know about this?

It is even better for these batteries to not fully discharge.

Read this article, basically says everything you need to know
Just charge and use your phone normally, there are a lot of myths about batteries. One is the fact that if you discharge the battery to zero you can damage it. That's true at an electrical level, but your phone will report "zero" and turn off at a safe level, well before any potentially-damaging level.

Im wondering if my battery life is normal, im pretty sure I remember before doing yhe mf9 update I had better than this. If it could be better, what would you suggest I do to make it better? Look at the attached pics
Also I was playing a game for a while but I'd still think it should last longer.

I've read threads about worse battery life on MF9, but that is certainly not the case for me. I've been on MF9 3-4 days now, and am for sure not seeing worse battery life. Perhaps a little better, but it's hard to tell. For sure not worse.
Stock rom, rooted, some bloatware disabled. Same setup I had on MDL.
Ahh. But another thing, it takes FOREVER to charge. It has probably been plugged in for 20-30 minutes and it is at 2 percent. I used it to call someone a couple times. But I dont understand why it wouldn't charge.

Are you using the charger that came with the phone? Its a 2amp charger while almost every other phone charger is a one amp.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4
Actually this is what's weird.. when I use the 2 amp charger it charges slowly. But when I use a 0.7 amp charger it charges faster than the 2 amp. Could it maybe be the usb cord? I have a different one than the original because the one it came with, the plug broke

Last month I used my tablet, and the next day when I went to use it again it was off, and wouldn't turn back on. I tried every variation of letting it charge, unplugging, replugging, holding button down, etc. I eventually figured it was the battery, so I finally got around to buying a new one. However, it still isn't working. What the heck?! Someone please tell me they know of some fix, or can recommend me something.
Well you are comfortable taking the Nexus apart, so leave it on the charger for 24 hours. Open it up and actually measure the battery voltage. Then report back with your results.

Might be a dumb question, but I never measured voltage on anything before. At which points do I take the measurements from?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Bad assumption on my part. I figured if you would replace the battery yourself, you would have some electronics experience. Don't stick probes into your nexus - you will short something. Unplug your hopefully charged battery and have a friend who is good at this measure the battery voltage while it is disconnected. Also have him check that you also successfully reconnected all those tiny connectors. The nexus 7 is really not good for a first electronics project -it is easy to do far more damage than good. And review the ifixit video again.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Ah, well, I don't really know anyone who has any electronics experience. But I figured there would just be specific spots to place the probes to get an easy measurement, and that would be it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Well if the battery is disconnected, it is a two pin connector. One probe to each hole. I would make more suggestions, except I am afraid you will short them and start a fire. Be careful. And look for a techy friend.
