[Q] Hard Brick? Flashed wrong kernel - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

So, I accidentally placed a GSIII kernel in my ROM folder for my S4, flashed it and now...bricked. I press the power button and it vibrates 3 times and nothing but black on the screen. Plugging it in does the same thing with no LED. Download mode and recovery 3 button combo does not work, just more vibration. I'm assuming this is a hard brick? I have 2 days left to return it on my purchase. Can I return it in this condition? I got it from Walmart.
*Edit*
Wow, I was able to get into download mode, reflash the stock tar via ODIN and it's still doing the same thing. It rebooted and still just vibrates at a black screen.

HELP: Cannot get back into Download Mode...Truly Bricked??

I'm pretty sure I just bricked my **@#*& phone trying to Flash the Semaphore 1.6.0Bm kernel
It failed the first time around when I tried to flash it via Odin.
So I took the battery out like I usually do then went to put it back into download mode... To my surprise I cannot get into download or recovery mode anymore.
I've tried all button methods and none worked. I can't get past the screen that has the cell --- computer screen.. Looks like I may need a jig now...?
Any other ideas that I might be able to try?
Thanks.
What happens when you three finger boot and just keep holding it? Same screen you have now?

You mean holding the Vol up & down, Home and power button?
Same thing.
I've left the battery out for over 20 minutes, tried it while plugged into the computer, the adapter and not plugged in at all.. Still nothing.
This sucks..
if the phone doesn't do anything at all you can probably take it in to your service center and tell them it wont turn on but it didn't get wet or anything... ubless they have some magical way to get it into download then they'll replace it if you're under warranty.

Load up Ubuntu or something and load up heimdall command line. There should be an option to kick it out of the connect to PC screen.

Thanks for your responses.
I tried the OneClick.jar heimdall method but it seems to not recognize that the phone is even plugged in.
I did just purchase a USB jig off ebay, I'm guessing that this is my last option before having to bring it back to Telus for a replacement
have you heard of One-Click UnBrick?
I have seen that screen a few times. This worked for me every time to get it back into recovery...

I got this same problem when I installed CM7 on my T959d for the first time and Odin hung after clicking [Start]. Rebooted my phone and was greeted with a nice soft-brick screen. What a scare that was.
Here's what I did:
1. Take out the battery from the phone.
2. Plug the phone via USB to the PC (odin was open)
3. Hold down [VOL -] key
4. Hold down [POWER] key
I don't remember if the SGH-GTI9000 screen popped up, but if it does, wait for it to switch back to a black screen and then release just the [POWER] key, keeping [VOL -] pressed.
That put me back in Download Mode. Fired up ODIN again and the flash was successful this time around.
edit: Also, the Semaphore kernel i see in i9000 is for JVS roms. I'm not sure how that would affect darkys, since it's a JVR rom.

[Q] ?Bricked? LG G2 (D800) *Seriously Bad*

So I tried getting Cyanogenmod 10.2 for my LG G2 (D800). I did some stuff and ended up rebooting and getting this screen.
[650] Fastboot mode started
[700] udc_start()
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2403056&stc=1&d=1384904247
I used TWRP for backup, but can't even get into phone to do anything.
Also it won't come up on my computer when I plug it in with usb. I tried both my computers and they both had the drivers but the phone won't even connect to either pc. I could connect easily the day before though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2403058&stc=1&d=1384904247
I also got this while pushing Power and both Volume buttons at same time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2403059&stc=1&d=1384904390
What should I do? :crying: If you guys need more info or pictures just tell me, I'll do anything to fix my phone.
Hold power down for 15+ seconds. Then hold volume up and plug in USB. This should get you into download mode to kdz. May take a few attempts.

I see your using Utorrent you pirate! JK
It looks as if your phone has some life left, not really too familiar with D800. Have You tried the key combo to get into TWRP? Does the D800 have download mode?
Also did you by chance flash the wrong rom (different carrier)? Did you wipe the internal storage?
It looks like the incorrect ROM was flashed, it did not like your boot.img. You should be fine. Hold down the power button for +-15s as he said. During that time the screen should turn off, back on to the LG screen, then back off again. The phone should stay powered off. Then, hold the vol- & pwr buttons, releasing them when you see the LG screen. While still on the LG screen, press and hold the power button until you arrive at the LG factory reset menu. Press the power button to confirm a factory reset, which will actually boot you into TWRP so you can restore your backup.

I have the lg g2 d800 as well and I also had a similiar issue. I wiped to clean for new rom and accidently before installing cm-10.2 I hit the reboot button. I just want to say thank you guys for all the knowledge base. Reading this thread fixed mine too.
I had similar issue couple weeks ago bad flash,no backups and unable to mount sd from custom recovery, the only way for me to fix this was to install rom via sideload, which was pain for two days.

boot loops at recovery???

So I have done some searching but nothing I've tried help or not the same issue.
I was trying to root everything seemed to go fine. Phone reboots and now all it does is goes to a screen with blue letter at the top left that says recovery and then reboots. I've tried to power button home button volume key combo same thing happens. Phone keeps looping, so I pull the battery. As soon as I put it back in it starts looping again, even without me trying to turn it on.
Am I screwed? I have tried adb but it cant find the device, I assume because it keeps rebooting. Does Samsung have something like the HTC RUU or would that not matter because of the boot loop?
Any help would be great!
Thanks

If you cannot get into download or recovery mode by using the
Home+VolumeDown+PowerButton or Home+VolumeUP+PowerButton
then you will need to purchase a "USB JIG" from an online store or from
eBay, it's very inexpensive $5.00 or less shipped.
You plug it into the USB port of the phone after the phone is fully
powered down. After doing that it takes less than 3 seconds for
the phone to go into "download mode" automatically.
Once its in download mode and you unplug the jig you can Odin
flash the official stock firmware/rom and have a fresh start.
I have been using a JIG for years on many models of Samsung Android
phones and it works GREAT! It even worked perfectly on a friends HTC.
Good luck!

[Q] Note 3 will not turn on

I just got my hands on a rooted 4.4.2 note 3 with safestrap already installed. I wanted to get Eclipse on it and get it going. I backed up the stock rom, wiped it, the installed Eclipse. Then, set it to Download mode, opened Odin, and flashed the unified firmware. Now, the phone will not even turn on. I have tried multiple batteries, left it plugged in for a few hours, and tried to get something to show up with Vol up + power + home button to no avail. Anyone with suggestions?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Have you tried removing battery and plug from the outlet and pressing and holding the power button down for about 10-15 seconds to reset it? Other than that, unless all the batteries you used are defective at the same time, I would say the phone is defective.

When you flashed the Unified Firmware in Odin, hopefully you used the AP slot and didn't use another slot.... if you didn't use the AP slot, then I'd be worried that something could have gotten messed up with the bootloader.
So it sounds like you've tried holding the volume down+home+power buttons all together, but it doesn't work any more to boot the phone into download mode....
You should check out the unbrick thread from hsbadr here: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54534374 ). It might help to get the phone back into download mode.
You could also try a usb jig to see if it would force the phone into download mode. Here's a listing for a usb jig on eBay that is less than $5 and the seller seems to have good feedback. The listing says it should work on a Note 3. There are also several guides on YouTube and xda on how to make one if you'd rather do that.
As long as there are no hardware problems and the bootloader didn't get totally messed up.... then if you can get the phone into Download (Odin) mode, you should be able to restore it back to stock 4.4.2 by following the steps in Droidstyle's restore guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46461911

Random reboots and now black screen

Hey guys my wife's S7 edge (SM-G935W8, Canadian variant) started rebooting and boot looping for a few days until it suddenly rebooted and stayed on with a black screen and the notification LED stayed blue until the battery died. Even holding home, power and volume down didn't do anything...
The phone was never rooted and completely stock. I just tried reinstalling stock firmware with Odin and everything went well as I got a pass but it still won't boot and gets stuck with black screen and blue LED.
Does this sound like a dead phone? I can't get into stock recovery, only download mode once the battery dies.
Just wondering if it's fixable.
Thanks

As the device switched off press the Power Button together with the Volume Button down, when the device vibrates, release the Power button and only keep the volume down button until the device starts up to the start screen appear.

You can enter download mode right ?
why don't you try installing TWRP recovery with ODIN
Go to TWRP website... and find your device
download .img.tar file
open odin and insert this file in AP tab and in the option tab (disable "auto reboot" )
( plug your phone via usb to your PC.)
on the log it will show (added)
hit start
once installed...press and hold vol down + home +power key (while it restarts) press and hold vol up + home+power key
You will now enter TWRP Recovery...swipe to allow modifications
wipe - > advanced wipe -> except sd card...select everything and wipe them (all your data will be gone)
now install any custom rom from this site..

I didn't try TWRP but I did try stock firmware from Samsung and Odin, said it passed but I couldn't boot the phone... Doesn't OEM unlock have to be checked in order to install TWRP tho? This phone was completely stock and never rooted.

yes i know but have you tried it ? i thought advanced wipe might help as it will remove everything.
My S7 edge is also having similar issue. It just died 4 days ago at 5 percent battery and red LED kept blinking. I tried to hard reboot using Power + Vol Down, it didn't work. I couldn't get into the Download mode either. It doesn't charge when connected to the charger, not detected on any computer as well. Any thoughts?

I plugged it in last night, after the battery was completely drained. It's been a week since the issue.
It was fine till this morning. I inserted the SIM cards and then connected to the laptop. I thought I would backup the data using smart switch before doing a factory reset. The backup went fine till 75% and then boom again turned off. This time there's a lot of battery left, and I might have to wait 4-5 days before it can be drained completely. But I'm now hopeful that it'll eventually turn on and when it does I'll immediately do a factory reset before doing anything else. I'm suspecting that a rogue app might be causing it. This time it might have happened while that app is being backed up. The LED is constant Red this time indicating the state it was connected to the laptop at the time of incident.
It turned on again last night when I connected the charger. It was showing the charging symbol. After 5-6 minutes of charge I tried to hold Vol - + Power buttons briefly to reset the device and it went off again. It's lying like a brick currently.
No sign of life again!
