Loaded Slimbean on my S4 yesterday. I love it by they way, real clean look.
I can't watch videos though, specifically avi files, both locally and streaming from my NAS. Youtube works, recorded video works (minus sound), but not the rest of the content that I could play on my stock rom.
Did some googling, and I found some references to the DPI settings, so I tried setting that to stock (480), but that didn't help.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I just got a new TF101G, and I would like to transcode some of my TV records for the Transformer.
So I just went along using Handbrake and created a MP4 file out of my TS recording.
The re-coded movie has a resolution of 720x572 (that's the original size, I didn't changed anything in Handbrake). But when I play that using the stock app, the aspect-ratio during playback seems to be odd. I basically followed the settings on http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...onvert-video-transformer-using-handbrake.html.
What am I missing here? Is there any "trick" to re-code movies for the Transformer?
Try Mx Video Player on the market. Works for just about everything. I would post a link but I can't yet.
OK; I will try that - but shouldn't the video also work fine with the stock player?
I use the stock player for movies that I have made into mp4's using handbrake. They're not HD so I have not changed any setting in handbrake either. They have all played fine so far.
I have also used dice player to play a video that was downloaded and mx or stock would not play it and dice player did, so who knows with this stuff
What resolution are your movies that you re-coded to mp4 using handbrake?
Hello!
I would like to question one thing... can we play 720p videos?? and 1080p?
I'm sorry for the newbie question.. but i have already tests on my tab ( i have shared the video on my network).. and it did not work, it gets lag a lot
I have light speed 2.0 custom room whit honeyvillain kernel.
Sorry for my bad English
Depends on the player and if you're willing to pay for it....
I use rockplayer and it works well with most stuff, diceplayer also as a backup and mxplayer too. Don't use the stock player very much...
If you're playing HD stuff then go here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184002
This will give you encode advice, instructions and help you out...
Cheers...
BS Player is great for playing videos. The best free one. 720p should be no problem.
1080p videos are highly reliant on how they are encoded. You will probably not be able to play the 1080p videos you already have on your PC.
I tried tons of free players (wasn't willing to try all the pay players for obvious reasons) seems Diceplayer & BSPlayer to be the best, with my nod (for what it's worth) going to BSPlayer. Will play HD content , subtitles (internal & external) & allows selection of multiple audio tracks. (Will even download the subtitles for you!!!) A very sweet player
I have had some problems with 720p videos rendering on Gingerbread versions for S5, the same videos where playing just fine in FroYo, with this patch i made some of them working again, in HW mode not SW.
Recorded 720p where working just fine without the patch.
-I watch 720p movies using DicePlayer or Stock player, depending if i want subtitles or not.
Make sure to backup your original libOmxVdec.so, in case something goes wrong.
Tested and working on DSC and CM7(DSC Kernel), but i think it should work on all GB roms out there.
I have atached the patch here, you can flash it using Streakmod.
Hope this helps!
P.S. This is not my work, original work/thread can be found here and original flashable zip can be found here.
re
I installed the ZIP.
I have not noticed any change but....
With this MOD, the browser stopped playing embedded flash videos (youtube,vimeo,indavideo...)
I tried lot of browser, but the result is same.
After I restored the original files, the video playing in the browser works again...
I had no problems with flash player embedded, i also watch movies online on my phone, this patch made some videos 720p working, same videos wouldn't open in HW mode using the original lib.
In froyo i could play almost any 720p i would like, in this, not really, but this patch made some videos playable.
I don't think the browser problem was from the lib, but who knows...all i can say is that this is working just fine for me.
For some reason, I can no longer play videos on my Galaxy 10.1 tab. What the heck is going on? They played beautifully before ICS, now they play with sound only.
I was using Dice Player with the plug-in, and they worked fine before. But now they won't work. So I deleted them, and downloaded them again, but they still won't work. So I uninstalled them again, and installed the Mobo player. Same thing -- audio, but no picture.
Is anybody else having this problem? I can't believe it's only my tab. Anybody have a solution? Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem after the update to ICS 4.0.4 the problems started.... this is because developers NO LONGER support the ADOBE Flash Player..!!!
Seems both have had issues, so Adobe stopped Supporting and updating and Google or Samsung or both have disabled its functions in the Update ICS 4.0.4...!!
Solution is to find a working / supporting Video Downloader which gives you the choice to View and Downliad Videos..!!
I am now using "Firefox with Video Downloader and the MXPlayer" works well..!!!!!
Just have to test and choose whichever combination works for you.!
Hope this answers your Q's

I guess I should clarify my original post. I have absolutely no problem playing web-based videos. I have no problems with Youtube, and videos play when I visit websites with flash video. My web-based videos play fine whether I'm using Firefox or the stock Android browser.
On the other hand, I am having problems with my personal video files (MP4, MKV, etc.) that I import into my tab. Prior to the ICS update, the videos played fine using Dice player. And even for a couple of weeks after the ICS update, the videos played, although choppy. After consulting with a Samsung tech person, he advised me to do a hard reset of my tab. That seemed to fix things.
But now, my videos play with audio only, no video. I have installed and reinstalled Dice Player, and Mobo Player, but neither work. This is really bumming me out because watching videos is one of my primary uses for the Galaxy Tab.

OK, I've tried everything, and just now (reluctantly) did a hard reset of my tab. No change; I still can't play most of my video files. All I get is sound, no video.
Does anybody have any idea why my video capability suddenly stopped working? I have checked every setting I could find; I have installed and reinstalled video players; and have even tried recoding some of my videos. They are coded at mp4 with H.264. A week ago, they played flawlessly in my Dice player.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Just wondering about video format compatability, I have a galaxy s3 and I can dump darn near any video on it and it plays it like a champ with the stock video player. The N7 on the other hand is really picky about videos, and most of the time I have to use vplayer to play anything and it plays like crap. Can anyone weigh in on this?
Use MX player seems to be fine for me
MX or Dice, and throw anything you got at it.
I know you can get video apps that will play different file formats, I guess my main question is why do different devices have different video capability when running almost the same OS?
